Had a good experience initially with GKC consulting with a "temp" wall install earlier in August 2022. Based on that, I asked Anthony to come out and see if he could install a couple of dishwashers, and a garbage disposal at two of my properties.
Communication was good via text leading up to the scheduling. I sent an email with details on the scope of work outlining details on the dishwasher and garbage disposal, along with addresses and tenant contacts. Confirmed pricing via text. Thought all was good to go.
On the day of installation, I'm getting good updates throughout the day via text. I messaged Anthony that would circle back after inspecting the locations and talking with tenants after work. I received feedback from both tenants that the installation seems to be good, but after they ran their test runs there is excessive pooling of water in the bottom of the dishwasher and it is not draining. I reach out via text about the issue, and around the same time, Anthony asks about when payment will be complete. I called inquiring about the pool of water at the bottom of my tenant's dishwashers.
This is where it goes downhill... long story short, here are my issues with the interaction during this final call with Anthony:
1. Anthony says to the effect that the excess water on the bottom of the dishwasher does not have anything to do with his installation. Apparently, he had left both properties, and he says "tenants were happy" and did not complete a full test run of the dishwashers since he did not want to "wait around an hour for them to run." This seems weird since the specific model dishwasher has a short 15-20 min quick rinse cycle. I explain to him my expectation was that he would complete an operational check of what he is installing to make sure it is operating okay.
2. We had agreed via email and text on pricing for the work, but I was now getting texts and an invoice that was more than originally quoted. I inquired as to why it was more and was told he quoted me for the installation of only two dishwashers, not the garbage disposal. So essentially, I'm paying extra for him not understanding the scope of work that he had already agreed to?
3. Anthony starts going off on a rant saying that I'm trying to cheat him and not pay, he then complains he was working on these installs from 8 am to 2 pm and had a lot of issues with the garbage disposal, etc. Continues to vent... when I interject and tell him he's not the only one that had a long day, and that it sounds like there were multiple layers of miscommunication.
Overall, this round of service by GKC was sub-par. Anthony's lack of attention to detail in reading the scope of work contributed to the upcharge later, and his lack of follow through and patience to test and ensure proper operation of the dishwasher would've caught the water pooling and drainage issue. And finally, his unprofessionalism & lack of decorum during my phone call for just inquiring about the issues was the final nail in the coffin.
I told him, he would get paid, but I would not be requesting any more work from him. I hung up and blocked him. Utter shame... I would've sent tons more work his way. read more
