Juan just finished up a drywall replacement related to a roof leak. He ripped out old insulation and replaced with new insulation he got for the job. He put some extra cross pieces (of wood) in between ceiling beams so that he could have extra points to attach the drywall to. After that, he taped and mudded and after that dried, did an excellent job applying texture to match the existing. Much appreciated and relieved to have the project finished. Maria was similarly very easy to work with - very pleasant and handled some scheduling issues quickly and professionally - also, much appreciated. Brought Level Up in to cover a shower wall that was opened up to do plumbing work. They said it would take 2 days and take level 4 finish. When Juan arrived and learned that the area would be tiled over we agreed it didn't require finish other than covering the taping and texturing the adjacent couple of inches that would show after tiling, as well as a 6" x 12" section that had some molly heads that needed covering. Rather than match the original removed areas we agreed he would remove some remaining drywall so it would be a neater job with fewer seams. It also meant that it would be easier and he would not need to come back a second day to do a final finish. In all the job used less than $50 in materials and took 2 hours 15 minutes start to finish. Juan charged $700, the original price--even though it was fast, easy and didn't require two trips. He would not reduce the price so I paid about $300/hr for his labor. Outrageous! Juan was on time and did good work--but his pricing is through the roof. read more

He took the time to inspect the work area first before working. This led to him showing me a crack he found on the top side of my bathtub and asking if I wanted a couple of drywall anchors repaired as well. The patches were on top of the work I had requested but I did not see any additional charges for the work. I also had some questions on how I should paint the areas the work was completed and the owner Juan took the time to visit, give me some advice on how to proceed, and assurance I could reach out with anymore questions or concerns in the future. I couldn't have been more impressed with Level Up - they were fast, responsive, available and did a superior job. Our project was to remove two built in bookcases and really wanted to save them (100 year old Craftsman). They couldn't guarantee it was possible, but in the end, they were able to keep them intact! These folks kick ass. After piddling through DIY basement renovations for 3 years, we finally decided to call in the professionals. Juan, Rojelio, William, Alfredo, Irwin, and probably a couple other folks I'm forgetting, all did outstanding work to finish up two large rooms for us. They closed up and textured one room that was ready for them, then demo'd another room (replaced the 40 year-old insulation, installed resilient channel on the ceiling), textured it and closed it back up, along with various patchwork all over the place, and did it all with smiles and startling speed. These guys did an amazing job repairing and skim coating the ceiling and walls of two of my home's bedrooms last month. The ceilings had a horrible texture that must have resulted from a poor/partially removed popcorn that had then been painted over multiple times. The walls also had a weird texture and a patchwork of poor repairs done prior to my ownership. Now they have a beautiful smooth finish top to bottom. I had the option for them to add texture but I prefer the smooth, flat finish. Juan was extremely responsive to my questions, provided a quote and delivered upon it beautifully. If you have had it with every contractor you have tried to get to come and work on a small project, I am here to tell you there are still some good guys out there. I called Level Up Drywall to see about finishing drywall in a small primary bathroom left unfinished from the last contractor. Their communication and responsiveness was wonderful. I sent them pictures and they gave me a quote. We agreed upon a day and time that would work for my schedule, and lo and behold- they actually showed up. If you have been working on an entire condo renovation like I have, I can tell you that everything I just mentioned- which should be such an easy thing- is absolutely not easy at all when dealing with the various trades. In fact, it is very painful. My experience was the exact opposite with Level Up Drywall. Juan finished the skim coating on Day 1 and it looked fabulous. Geraldo finished the sanding and added matching texture several days later. Both men were on time, friendly, and super easy to work with. The job is flawless and the wall that they fixed, (which we discovered was damaged when removing the wallpaper from the previous owner) looks like a brand new wall.
