They were incredibly prompt and transparent throughout the process, especially when it came to pricing and helping us compare options with other companies. Communication was consistently clear and efficient--Yekaterina kept everything organized and responsive, and we always knew what to expect. Vasily was fantastic to work with and was frequently on-site, which made a big difference in ensuring things stayed on track and met a high standard. The crew was professional, respectful, and easy to have around--no issues at all--and we really appreciated that it was the same team from beginning to end. Any questions or issues that came up were communicated immediately and clearly, which gave us a lot of confidence throughout the project. The final result using James Hardie siding looks great, and we're very happy with the quality of the work. Would highly recommend KV Construction to anyone considering a siding project.

At least 20+ holes were patched and are now absolutely invisible in our color-drenched home. Overall, communication is excellent- everyone on the team gets cc'ed on emails, project managers visit the site regularly, and the onsite leads are extremely professional and detail-oriented. Arnoldo was our first project painting lead, his skill is unparalleled- watching him paint or come up with a painting solution for a tricky area is astounding. Adrian M was our most recent painting lead, and he is focused, efficient and clearly works very hard (the guy runs fast but is very professional in everything he does) and has a level of skill that is unmatched. Everyone is polite, respectful of our home and friendly. Phinney Ridge is tidy and clean, they take feedback well when things aren't quite perfect, and they are timely and efficient, and they solve problems. The cost and quality are commensurate, their experience is well evidenced and they always have solutions for tricky old house problems, plus a great warranty. I would happily hire again, and we plan to when the time comes to paint the exterior of our house in another year or two.

When I moved into our 1938 Ballard home a few years back, the inspector, after giving a full…read morereasonable report of the house said, "Oh and the garage, well... I think you know". Indeed the detached garage was more of a shanty spider nest with a gravity defying lean that was barely safe enough for my lawn mower. "Someday", I said. "Someday we will rebuild..." Over the years I consulted with a few contractors including a few of the larger firms with strict lower limits on the size of projects they are interested in. Never felt right. I've never been involved in a construction project, I have no idea what I'm in for and I knew it. This was just too much. Meeting with Barry gave me new hope. He was full of creativity. Lots of options with varying budget options. He even had ideas on how to save the original structure. I nodded along politely and then said, "Let's tear it all down." Nine months later I'm writing this review in my new garage/office. Gentle natural light is filtering down from the skylights in my vaulted ceiling onto gorgeous polished concrete floors. My A/C has clicked on to celebrate the rare 80+ degree day. Later this evening I might open the tri-fold patio doors and enjoy the cool breeze reflecting on the journey that was both harder than I imagined and yet more successful than I hoped. Barry was a great partner in all this. He runs a very tight ship and has an excellent crew. He works really closely with our designer Joanne to get our plans and permits together. The demolition crew put on a hell of a show and even let my wife run the excavator. They were super flexible and didn't flinch when they needed to pull up some giant tree roots and fill in sinkholes. The framers put the structure up so fast I just blinked and it was done. Jesus the drywall guy is a straight wizard. Patrick the carpenter has an eye for detail, always ready to discuss which of us has the better obscure sci-fi reference t-shirt, and built the most beautiful fence I've ever seen. Barry is himself a great communicator and problem solver. I also found it very reassuring that he lives only a 1/4 mile away where he (and sometimes his young sons, and once even his mom) could be onsite in minutes. We had plenty of challenges where any thoughts I may have had over "Well... what do I really need a contractor for?" were easily banished. A million decisions, inconsistent inspectors, cranky neighbors, a global-fucking pandemic, we made it through. I'm probably completely spoiled now and I wouldn't have any other way.

Hire Rain City Exteriors!!!…read more Our 55 year-old house still had its original siding when we decided to replace it. We contacted three contractors with top-notch track records.  The first two sent out sales reps, but when Rain City's owner, José Olivarez and project manager, Monce Marquez came out personally and patiently answered all our questions, we decided to go with them.  And boy, are we glad we did! Monce was a wonderful project manager, good at explaining the whats, whys and whens of the work to be done, and always attentive and responsive to our needs. But the best thing she did was to assign Joel and his crew to us.  The good things we have to say about Joel and his crew could fill an encyclopedia: Not only did they competently and efficiently attend to every detail of the installation, but also, Joel always considered our preferences whenever decisions, large or small, had to be made. In nasty weather, Joel took special care to ensure that everything stayed dry. At the end of every day, the crew's clean-up made sure there was nothing left to trip over. In eight miserable Seattle weather working days Joel and his crew cheerfully completed their task. Then came Armando and his crew, who painted, trimmed, and provided all the finishing touches to complete the transformation of our shop-worn looking house into a dazzling, brand-new home . There is one element that's hard to quantify and yet that really matters: Jose, Monce, Joel and every Rain City worker was so considerate, helpful, and above all, friendly, that although we know the project is complete and no more work needs to be done, we sort of wish they were still around. If you hire Rain City, we suspect you will feel the same way.
