    Dinner portion of bolognese.
    Curt S.

Visiting the area on our annual golf trip and stopped in to eat at Giuseppe's as we usually do and were taken back by the changes. The waiter, Jason, said the owner has a new "concept". The "concept" was smaller portions (and higher prices). My Italian grandma would be embarrassed having someone walk out of her home hungry as we did. Stay away until the owner decides to go back to serving normal portions!

This restaurant is the biggest rip off and all of Williamsburg. I ordered the Bolognese. It's not even enough for a kids menu and it's $18.I am appalled ... what a fricken rip off.....Don't come here if you're hungry... You will leave hungry....

Giuseppe's holds a special place in my stomach. I absolutely adore the owner, chefs, and wait staff. You feel so incredibly special when you dine here, and if you come more than once they are sure to remember you and make you part of their family. The atmosphere is always so joyful, bright, warm, and engulfing. But it's the food that we want and they assuredly do not skimp. My latest wine dinner was hallow ween themed and oh my so delicious. The wines were so on point, every one was a burst of new flavors for me. Then the food , oh the food. I've been to many of their dinners but I always fail at getting pictures of each course because I'm having such a great time. Tonight I did it! Lol. The presentation, the flavors, the back story, oh my! Getting into one of these special wine dinners is not easy, you need to prebook, no day of walk ins. Your efforts will be rewarded though.

Very romantic setting. Not too large and the atmosphere is very personal. They talk to you to try and find your preference if you would like. They have signed wine bottles displayed in cubbies with accent lights. I liked it. The food was made to order and the service was excellent.

The food was fantastic. Our server, Susan was delightful. The atmosphere was lovely. The owner Anthony was very attentive of all of his guests. We will dine here again.

Strip loin with mushroom crème sauce and manchego cheese tortellini.

I meant to write this review a couple of days ago, my wife and I visited on Monday. The special was very good, it was a strip loin with manchego tortellini, mixing the meat with the cheese was perfect. The mussels are a favorite of my wife's and they are delicious. The place grew to be busy but the service was excellent. The restaurant always is very clean and has a great look to it. It has become a favorite for us when we want Italian and we live over a half hour away.

Giuseppe's is my go to for awesome Italian dinners when I vacation in Williamsburg Va. The pasta with grandmas meatballs was delicious and just hit the "spot". The pasta with shrimp scampi was amazing. The scampi had a nice sear on them and literally tasted like lobster! Always a great dinner!

My friend and I came to Carbo load before the Richmond Half marathon. Giuseppe's does not disappoint! We split the spaghetti & meatballs and pest gnocchi for dinner. The salad that was included was very fresh. For dessert, we split the seasonal lemon raspberry tiramisu, which was so unique but refreshing and delicious! The owner? stopped by the greet us and asked how we liked the dessert. Fast and great service, delicious food for reasonable prices (we're coming from the DC area). I highly recommend this spot that is popular amongst the locals!

These pictures are from various wine themed dinners. The food and wine are deliciously paired. I have several allergies which are always accommodated. I highly recommend you try their food!

First them meal: Outstanding. The wifey and I both ordered small pizzas. Mine was the All Meat and the wifey ordered the Arugula and Prosciutto. Let me say again both were outstanding and tasted amazing. When talking about my old meat pizza out of the four or five meats on mine with standard it out above the others was the sausage. Had an absolutely wonderful flavor. But surprisingly it didn't overpower when it was combined with the other meats. As for the wife, this is the second time she's had this combination type Pizza. The first time was in an authentic Italian restaurant, but was in Mexico. Yeah, that's kind of crazy pizza in Mexico but at that location down there it was incredible enough to make my wife want it again and this is the first time we have found a location that served a similar pizza. The arugula was fresh, not welted and really popped with flavor. Now both the wife and I had to really agree that the crust for both pizzas was not that heavy dough type. It had a little fluff to it, making it not weighing in your belly after you eat it. Staff: our server was outstanding as well. Very intentive checked on us several times and we even had some conversation back-and-forth. I believe we may have talked also to the owner who was sitting out front. If nothing else he was the manager again another very friendly man that we enjoyed our conversation with. As for the location: we found it very clean. And well kept. If you look at my other past reviews at locations via visited the one thing we really base cleanliness on is sometimes the restrooms. Well, in a shared ladies/men room, it was also very clean and well kept. So I will say again, outstanding location, outstanding staff, and wonderful food. If you're in the area absolutely I would recommend this for your lunchtime meal. We absolutely look forward to going back at a later time and trying some of the other dishes they offer.

However, I would not recommend the brownie and chocolate sundae dessert. The brownie and cookie were cold and hard, which made the dessert disappointing. On the positive side, the carrot cake was huge and definitely worth sharing -- easily enough for 3-4 people. The service was excellent as well. Overall, Second Street American delivers great food variety, strong service, and a family-friendly atmosphere, with just a few misses on dessert.

However, I would skip the beignets if you are expecting the traditional version.
