In the quaint little town of Ladysmitth, North Carolina lies a little Italian restaurant called Giuseppe's. Staring down a major back up on 95 south decided to check out this place about a mile off the highway. Wide variety of menu options which harkens you back 30 years. The servers are super friendly. The atmosphere is very home feeling and the food is just terrific. The bake lasagna jumped out of me so that's what I went with. The portion size is good, the sauce is good, plenty of cheese and meat. Add with it a side of garlic knots, which were really good along with a purchase of a side sale which also was fresh and delicious. read more

This spot is right off of 95 so it makes it easy to stop by when we are traveling south. The prices are good. We always get a table right away. There's lots of space and plenty of friendly employees. Food comes out fast and is good. We get the different seafood pastas and my wife and son love the chicken Alfredo. There's also an ice cream truck outside. I highly recommend this place. read more

This past weekend, we ordered a 14 inch calzone And fries. Long story short, the Entire calzone was burnt. The minute I opened the box, you could smell it. It was hard as a rock and it was not edible at all. Unfortunately, Doordash was not willing to give me any type of refund or credit so I called Giuseppe's. They refused to help me. The owner wouldn't even get on the phone. Nino is his name. He refused to call me back. They don't have a manager so they're kind of running without any guidance. I called for a couple of days in a row and kept getting the waitresses or the cashier. Very rude. When she said she would call him and called me back and told me that he pretty much said the same thing I explained to her that Doordash was not giving me a refund and basically what Nino is saying is customers don't matter. He owns the restaurant. It was a 57 dollar order and he was not willing to do anything about it to take care of a customer. The fact that the owner Nino was Not willing to do anything about it, knowing his cook burnt an entire calzone and they still sent it out is crazy to me. And he obviously does not care the fact that he would not get on the phone with me or call me back and made his cashier give me the news and then rudely hang up on me is just unacceptable. There are better restaurants in the area. And with all the new restaurants coming into town, I'm hoping people start going elsewhere. The fact that the cashier refused to let me continue talking yelled at me and then hung up on me is sickening that they're allowed to treat their customers that way. Food is terrible like most restaurants in this area. Just cook or get dominos. Their wings taste like generic grocery store wings and their pizza is comedically bad just a giant slob of cheese on stale bread with rancid pizza sauce. All of their sides are terrible. While we were still eating out meals the server came over and said " you'll b needing. You of boxes" and we told her ya but not to hurry. She also asked if she could get our method of paymnt before we even saw the check. Never once did he ask how the food was in hurry for us to leave. I'm certain she didn't much care for veterans. Found this place looking for a good sit-down meal on the way home from Kings Dominion. The food was delicious and I cleaned my plate! They allowed me to customize my stuffed shells with Alfredo sauce and added shrimp as well! He got meaty ziti and was stuffed to happiness. The waitress was super nice and the atmosphere good as well. They had a train mounted on a ceiling track, with real local businesses advertised on the sides of the boxcars - so cute! Went to this place because reviews sounded hopeful. Unfortunately I ordered the chicken parm light sauce (server said it was a specialty). First time she brought it swimming in sauce. Ordered a shrimp and pasta takeout entree. Pasta was overcooked and limp; broth was watered down but the parmigiana potatoes were fabulous and of a generous quantity. Returned just before Christmas and ordered 2 side orders of the potatoes and at a not inexpensive price, and was shocked when I got a minuscule styrofoam cup of each. When I asked if I could have the same amount as I had the previous week, it took 15 minutes to get an answer NO, and when I described the size of the container given me with the entree, which alone was 3x just one of the cups, I was again told NO. What a gem this place is. We didn't expect much after a long day of driving and enjoying rides at King's Dominion, yet this restaurant really made their mark with us. Staff was very pleasant. They were tentative, nice and patient with us, yet not overly friendly or fake. The food portions are large. Everything is very tasty. I'd say this is not authentic Italian food though, it's more like americanized Italian food, which is totally fine. In general, i think the food could have used a little more garlic (esp the garlic knots!). Other than that, no complaints at all. One suggestion: go for the pasta dishes and not subs. The meat Sauce for spaghetti et all has wonderful taste. You always have choices of pastas which adds so much to your meal. Extremely good salads alway consistent. My favorite is the Greek salad. It is always very generous in cheese and veggies. The meal is always a delight. (We ordered a tea - when asked for refills, "we are out") - ok we switched to water. Still charged over $3.00 for the tea. Food was hot good as always and my server Ms. Brenda was sweet kind as always. And a second server who is new was very kind. However, the attitude stares of the individual at the entrance, red head at the counter leaves much to be desired. On more than one occasion upon entry, this has happened more than once .... a nasty stare, no greeting. Today was no different. I walked in and stood there waiting to be seated. I was not acknowledged. So once again a mean stare or glare - no welcome to Giuseppe's - just a frozen mean nasty stare. So I continued to wait. The only thing this individual had done was pass 2 pizzas to a to go customer. Plenty of time for a greeting. I continued to wait. Someone finally came from the back & asked if I'm picking up, I responded no dining in. The staff with red hair is still looking mean. When I was seated I asked for a manager this staff member who seated me looked lost puzzled & just stared at me then proceeded to go Back to the register and start whispering. A manager was never sent over. I asked Ms Brenda bless her heart she didn't understand what I meant. I finally asked a different server and she shared Nino is the manager but he is off but Nina is here. I asked who is Nina - she points to the mean person at the register. So I declined speaking to her since she is who my complaint was about. The mean stare has happened on more than one occasion. I frequently dine here as well as my daughter my family. I've frequently sung praises regarding your food the freshness and shared on social media and with friends. It's concerning to be treated stared at I this manner. Not sure when I'll be back or if I'll notify Nino about Nina as I don't feel my concerns will be acknowledged. Customers who frequently patronize your business should not be treated on this manner. BEST chicken cheese steak sub ever! Chopped fine but still moist, covered with cheese, this is a sub done right! With a super fresh roll, lettuce, tomato and grilled onions, it's one of the best you will ever have. I have ordered carry out from Guiseppe's on numerous occasions and the food has always been just " okay" but today we decided to dine in and my experience was memorable. Parking 3.5 Food 3.5 Service 5 Ambiance 4 First off, our server was the sweetest and most accommodating server we have ever had. Her service alone made me not sweat the small things. On to the restaurant. Upon entering, patrons must wait to be seated. There are two seating areas. The one to the left is darker and more pub style. This seems to be the original set up. To the right is a much brighter and open area that accommodates larger groups and also houses the gelato freezer. I prefer this area for eating because of the lighting and open feeling. Guiseppe's has a varied menu but I ordered one of the pasta Farfalle special and was delighted. There are some items that can add up though. Outside of lunch hours the sandwiches are a la carte so when adding fries a meal can easily run $10 bucks. For the record the fries are are not good. Maybe go with the onion rings. Our kids like sandwiches and subs so yeah after lunch, plate specials and pizza seem more economical. Also we ordered a turkey sub and had to pay extra for pickles. Really? With a pasta meal you get one garlic knot. After that you have to either order a side of 3 or an appetizer of 9. That in my opinion is silly. I know this to be true because we dined twice and observed the same practice. If I have a large plate of pasta, another piece of bread should not set me back more money. Just a few things that I observed. I would still eat here because it's close to my house and the family likes it but just want to give my honest opinion. I have been in the area for a few week now on business. I have frequented several restaurants thus far. Had some nice experiences. I will now share my experience here. The moment you walk in you feel the Italian ambiance in the air, from the decor to the traditional Italian music playing in the background. I immediately ask for a tequila neat, the pour is nice 2oz. The restaurants I have been to in this area the pour has been about 1 1/4 oz. Moving forward, the server Mary, presented and explain the 4 daily specials. These specials include: brick oven pizza, vegetarian pasta dish, seafood pasta dish, veggie burger, fish special, and of course a nice cut of steak. I ordered a dozen clam (white). They were cooked well. Not dry, but a little too salty for me. I would order again in the future ask for lighter salt. The sauce however, was succulent with the rolls they serve. I ordered the crab stuffed flouder. I also asked for the pasta on the side. The order was delivered as asked. I would highly recommend this dish. To my surprise, I left wanting more. Delicious! I requested olive oil. OMG! This it was as if it was just pressed. No room for dessert, but will have to come again to sample. Highly recommend this little gold mine. read more
