This blend of cafe and bar is something that stands out in Solihull and manages to set it apart from many of the other restaurants and bars locally, they straddle the line between upmarket bar and vintage cage relatively well and have put together somewhere that is inviting without being too relaxed. One great thing to note is that they offer all day Brunch, which is great if you are late to rise and want a breakfast. This does make them busy on a weekend. They have a good selection of burgers. They also offer an afternoon tea at £10 per person which can be enhanced with Prosecco and offers a decent selection of both savoury and sweet items. I was impressed with the afternoon tea particularly as you didn't have to order ahead. My only complaint is that I didn't leave feeling full but the experience was very nice. I would deffinately recommend Ebb and Flow for a relaxed meal or a drink with friends.

The food has always been good here along with the service. However, my friends and I agree that the menu could probably do with a bit of an update or shake-up; it's been the same for too long. The last time we visited we enjoyed the sample bites to share (a great idea for a mixed starter for the table.) I also had the risotto which was very good. As always a fairly competent meal out. Shortly after finding a table in the late morning the crowds came in. If you plan on coming with a large group I recommend calling ahead to get reservations. They were serving the breakfast/brunch menu during our seating. I opted for the bacon pancakes. The food is presented just beautifully like the perfect instagram photo. And it tastes just as good. If you are a tea drinker you must order a pot just for the cute factor. All teapots come out dressed in little tea cozys. I wonder if they sell them as they all look homemade. My only complaint is that the food came old on the cold side. Perhaps it was due to how crowded it was, but it was like the food had been sitting out for a while. Regardless it still tasted amazing. I think prices for the Plough are affordable. If you have an Independent Birmingham card you receive a discount so keep that in mind. They have a beer garden out back that must be wonderful on sunny days..if we ever get any. I really want to get back there for lunch or dinner. And maybe try a cocktail if they have any. Brownies is a fairly small (might seat 10 at a push) independent coffee and tea room. It seemed like a good place to try as all the seats were full and people were still walking in - obviously earned itself a loyal clientèle! Tea and coffee choices although fairly standard (mocha, latte, cappuccino, espresso and americano plus English breakfast or fruit teas) were well executed and hit the spot, but this isnt why they had the five stars, that was down to the extra goodies. I was feeling peckish and happened upon bread pudding! I'm not sure how many readers of this will be aware of bread pudding but it was certainly a homely desert growing up and needless to say this did not disappoint! The addition of homemade pastries and veggie / vegan cakes also scored brownie points - excuse the pun :P All in all if I'm in this neck of the woods again I know where my caffeine fix will be!

It's near the airport but that's really it. There are a lot of people staying here who don't seem to leave. And a lot of families on holiday. And unlikely groups of mates. There is a gym and pool available which I guess might give you something to do. The décor is on a whole quite but early 90's but it's clean and they have considered getting as much light in as possible. The breakfast in the morning is very deep fried to make any time spent in the gym/leisure centre redundant. There is a restaurant here but all I saw come out was burgers and a Caesar salad. The menu offers things like a grill, fish pie, spaghetti carbonara, beef stroganoff etc. There is also a large, carpet bar called the 'Burgundy Bar'. It has a large patio that over looks some trees and the spill out car park. There are basic drinks offerings and no burgundy to be seen by the glass. The bar has excellent leather couches to sit on. The rooms are fine. They are clean, spacious enough, the bathrooms have powerful showers (good). You get a shampoo conditioner, bath gel, hand sanitiser and a body lotion plus soap. There is no mini bar fridge but there is some instant coffee, basic tea and a kettle in each room. Lots of storage. Internet issssss verrrrrrryyyyyyy sssslllllllloooooooowwwwwwwwwwww. I hate staying at hotels usually as I have a bad sleep and I find not everything is up to my standard but here I really had a good time and I think it was a hotel with a good atmosphere with a bit of life about it and here is why. - Location: The address is as follows; Coventry Road, Bickenhill, Solihull, West Midlands, B92 0EH. The Hotel is in an amazing location not for views but how you get there and for commuters it must be a dream. The Hotel is in walking distance from Birmingham airport, a railway station and the N.E.C. I dread getting to places in Birmingham as it is busy and I get confused easily but this Hotel really does make it good for you. If you don't fancy walking then a taxi is about £3 which is nothing. Driving it is not far from the M42 motorway so easy peasy. - Parking: The car park is huge and for the amount of rooms there I do not think you will have any problems ever finding a space. We were there when a wedding was on and there were still places even though the Hotel was quite full. - Appearance: From outside to be honest the hotel does not really look like anything special with plain brick walls but everywhere looks clean and the reception walk way is lovely. As you walk inside you will see reception to your right and staff are there looking friendly and they are very helpful indeed. Also as you walk in there are these great big vase sculptures which look amazing. In front of you is a bar area which has the most comfortable seats and they have a very good array of drinks available to you. It is not open all of the time so you may have to ask when you get there as as I was on a course I couldn't really work it out too well. To the left of you when you walk in is the dining area which is where we ate which is very pleasant and has a good feel about it. As you walk through the bar you can also find the restaurant which looks lovely but as there was a wedding on that weekend we didn't get a chance to eat in there. The whole hotel is quite easy to navigate around and all rooms are sign posted throughout well so you can't really get lost at all which is good. - Bedrooms: The rooms are standard but they look nice and have a very clean feel around them. They do get cleaned every day so you don't have to worry about anything being dirty which is what I always worry about with hotels. The bed is very comfortable and I had a double to myself which was lovely. They give you enough bedding so you don't have to worry about that at all. The bathroom is quite big and the shower is very powerful which I loved as I don't have a proper shower at home. I know people who did have the room service and they said it was very prompt and not too expensive but I didn't give it a go. - Conference Rooms: The conference rooms in this place are huge and well equipped and more equipment is available if needed. We had mints, drinks, paper and pens on the table which was nice and made you feel more relaxed. I get the feeling they really look after their conference suites well as all of the furniture was nice and new looking. I think they have quite a good range of suites as well. We used two of them while we were there and one room was massive and the next pretty small and they were both lovely. - Leisure Facilities: This Hotel has an amazing pool so if you stay do remember to take your costume as it is lovely. The gym I didn't go to but had a sneak peek and they look like they had a good range of things but it was very busy when I looked. There is also a room that shows sports on a big screen which as predicted was filled with people on the Sunday as there was a big match on. ---- Food: The food here is lovely. I only ate dinner and one day I had a full buffet with curry and then followed by the best chocolate fudge cake I have ever tastes that I had three slices which was very greedy of me. The prices are reasonable at around £3-5 for a sandwich with crisps and salad and main meals are £6 13 and they do have a good selection such as mussels to start followed by salmon. I didn't eat there in the evening but my friend did and she said the meals were lovely and very filling. - Prices: For a room last minute it was £55 but the rates are more than that usually. I think for the service you get from the Hotel and the standard of everything provided and also the facilities that are on offer I do not think this is a bad price at all. - Verdict: This hotel is lovely and I will recommend it to everybody.
