It had sausage, bacon slices, died cranberries and bread crumbs in the warm mac and cheese. It was rich, but tasted sophisticated. We were too full for desserts, but the menu sounded great. No-one in the restaurant appeared to know! But there it was: a huge pie on a small plate, goading the diner with its vast oneness. Second, they post Italian-sounding words all over the place. Just so you know it's *Italian* food. But then the menu is full of hamburgers and chicken covered in BBQ sauce. Third, my son tipped salt all over the table and, when asked why he'd done such a bloody stupid thing, he said, "To be healthy." He'd clearly received the leaflet from the Sodium Council. Regardless, the food was very acceptable and the service, in particular, was fantastic. Our waitress was absolutely what every parent wants: patient with the kids, pleasant, helpful, and very fun indeed. It's not truly American Italian fare but, God love them, they're trying, and it made for an entertaining and enjoyable meal.

Its not the biggest of fish and chip shops but is adequate. You can get about 8 people in the shop before its getting full. The staff are ok in here, could be batter ( lame joke), but hey it could be a lot lot worse. They sell the usual that you would expect from a chippy. On to the food, if you want fish fine no problems here, they taste very very nice. Chips , well if you get fresh ones they are fine, but they have been known to be a little old and being not as nice as they could be. The kebabs here are nice but the lamb is kept in water to keep it moist which is not ideal really. Apart from those little moans the shop is actually quite nice. The prices are reasonable too so no complinats there either. All in all a nice chippy on a good day and at worst and ok chippy on a bad day, so 3 stars for this as it is a bit of a let down.

I had a decent chicken liver parfait starter, followed by a very decent stab at a pheasant dish. The food here is clearly prepared with care, and whilst it's perhaps fairly straight-forward, it's well-executed. A note on the service. For the starter I'd actually ordered the "chicken pinchos", but I'm a chronic mumbler. I mentioned this when the parfait arrived (which was neither on the menu nor mentioned as a special, so not clear where it came from) and they immediately apologised profusely and offered to replace it. I said I was happy enough with the parfait and not to bother. When the bill came, my starter had been taken off. The true essence of service lies not necessarily in being perfect, but being gracious if a mistake does happen.
