But we stood at the bar with a drink and admired the beautiful husky that was visiting the pub and after 20minutes were seated. The food was absolutely delicious and cannot be faulted in any way. The only reason why I've not given 5 stars is because I was really looking forward to a lamb shank and unfortunately they had sold out and hadn't told me when I sat down. The service was very pleasant and we were even offered extra gravy half way through our meal which I think is a great touch. Great pub, not cheap but definitely worth every penny.

A good variety of outdoor seating, both at the front of the pub and in prime location next to the canal, perfect for a summer's evening! Inside the pub is modern and spacious, with pictures adorning the walls from Willington in bygone times. We visited on a Bank Holiday and the Dragon was very busy with diners and drinkers alike, sheltering from the incessant rain! Menu wise, a good variety of dishes, both traditional and more modern. As it was so busy on the evening we visited, we just went straight for the mains. We went for the 'Dragon burger' and the Moroccan Tagine; the burger was tasty enough, with a pleasant accompanying side salad and great chips. The tagine was the pick of the dishes though, full of flavour and a sizeable portion, with cous cous, but could have done with a portion of veg, but that was an extra. Other dishes included steaks, fish and chips, homemade pies etc. A good meal, and we will definitely give the starters and desserts a try on another visit.

I also got my favorite chips with curry sauce, which was nice and the sauce came on the side and kept really hot and nice over my trip home. Overall, quite pleased. Yanni's was hands-down the best fish and chips we had in the U.K. (or really anywhere for that…read morematter). The batter on the fish was so light, not at all greasy and most definitely delicious. The fish was firm and flaky... crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Served with either tarter or curry; both are super. Unlike many of its rivals however, Jackson's has the pedigree to boot too as it has recently been voted Best Chippy 2010 (although I'm not quite sure where). As you might expect with such a title, Jackson's offers very good fish and chips that is delicious and filling. Their fish is delightfully crispy and golden, whilst their chips are perfectly fluffy and just the right texture between dry and soggy. Their prices are fairly competitive for the area, meaning you can get fish, chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and a hot drink for less than four pounds, which is great value for money when you consider the quality of the food you're eating. If you're in the area definitely give them a try, whether you fancy a takeaway or a sit down meal.

The restaurant is underneath the main shop, but it feels cosy rather than basement-y, with white walls and plush blue velvet curtains. We had some french people stay with us once, and they really wanted to try proper fish and chips, so we brought them here. They weren't disappointed - who could be with light, crispy battered haddock and fluffy golden chips on offer, with proper mushy peas and gravy that tastes like it's been made for a roast dinner? Ommmm.
