On Tuesdays they have their Killer Prawns Mountain deal and it is amazing. It's 50 massive prawns and a side of chips or fries for just under £30. I always get their creamy seafood soup which is without a doubt the best soup I've ever had in my life, and I also love their Just Peachy Mojito mocktail, so nice. Highly recommend!

They also always have great offers on such as the one they have on at the moment; Dinner and wine for two at £30 from sunday-thursday. That's a two course dinner, and I'd suggest the Scottish smoked haddock and the cold poached salmon. However whatever you chose is likely to be top notch as mentioned. Loch Fyne is what I would consider to be one of those safe bets when you are out dining. The Wirral has one and it is arguably one of the best restaurants in the region.

Take a wander up Mansfield Road, or probably better still, hop on a bus or jump in a cab, as The Lobster Pot is quite a way up. It is worth going out of your way for though. This small restaurant in my opinion is the best fish / seafood place in the city (not that there are many to choose from), and it is a shame that it isn't closer to the city centre. Still, if it were, then the prices would probably be higher to cover higher overheads on property. I am a big fan of mussels, and this place does them wonderfully. Their menu has a good choice of fish and shellfish dishes and a small selection of meat dishes in case anybody in your party isn't keen on seafood. As far as I know though, there aren't any vegetarian options...at least, there weren't the last time I checked their menu online. Some of the dishes have an oriental bent, such as the thai fishcakes, prawn spring rolls and sesame prawn toast starters, but there are plenty of 'regular' seafood dishes. My personal favourites at this place are the smoked haddock chowder as a starter, a hearty, creamy soup which is quite filling in itself, filled with chunks of smoked fish and potato as it is. I then like to have a main course of mussels, usually the ones steamed in chilli and basil, although the more traditional Moules Marinieres are also great. A side dish of french fries goes wonderfully with them. I also sometimes indulge in a couple of fresh oysters, which can be bought individually. Two of these with a splash of tabasco sauce are enough for me as I find them quite rich, I could never eat a full portion as a main course. Various forms of salmon are well represented on the menu, although I have never sampled them myself. There is usually a specials board on display, giving options that don't appear on the regular menu. The restaurant boasts some very reasonably priced wines, with a bottle of house wine costing just under ten pounds, and plenty of others around 11 and 12 pounds. As this is a small place, I would suggest calling to book, especially at weekends and in the Christmas period. Another point in this place's favour is that during the festive period, they keep their regular menu on, instead of forcing a "special" Christmas menu upon you as many restaurants seem to. With the price of different fish and seafood varying so much, it is hard to give an average cost for a meal here, however I do believe with this place that you get what you pay for, and i've never found myself feeling bad about the money i've put down. Seriously, if you are serious about seafood, forget about Loch Fyne. The Lobster Pot wins, claws down!

The ingredients were fresh and the cocktails tasted great. My colleague tried both the blueberry and passion fruit mojito. They were very colorful and she said they were tasty. I had a classic and a cherry mojito. Both were worth returning for! After a jovial time in the bar, we were taken to the seated area for our meal. The service, attention to detail, politeness and respect of the team were first class ! They really went above and beyond to ensure everyone received excellent service and that our meals were perfect. We ordered dishes to share and they were outstanding. Excellence didn't end there. I always try to get fish and chips at least once during my week trips and where better than a seafood place. It was probably the best fish and chips I've had in the UK. The fish was perfectly battered and fried. Not greasy at all! The peas were perfectly cooked and the fries were not soggy ! Looking forward to returning to barnacles ! PS. Also loved the decor. Service was fantastic (very enthusiastic staff - very friendly and chatty!) who served us complimentary champagne when they discovered it was our anniversary. I was so impressed that I returned with partner Lynny the next day. Have been back heaps of times since and each and every time our food has been great. East Ocean also does stunning thai curries, and most other types of Asian food, and although there is an emphasis on seafood, those who dislike it need not be wary - there are plenty of meat and vegetarian dishes. I also really like the interior of the restaurant, it's modern and light, with a water feature that gives a classy yet exotic feel. All in all, I rate this restaurant highly. The waiting staff are always very polite and very attentive and you even get some prawn crackers to snack on!

Well we're not too sure of that yet as we are currently scouring Burton for the tastiest esblishments around, but what we do know is that is gave us everything we desired for this particular night. We were hungry, we fancied a nice pub atmoshpere, we didnt want too much fuss, and we didn't want to pay Liberia's deficit for it. Seating was easy enough, we asked at the bar whilst ordering drinks and were informed we could either order there and then or have a waitress come and take our order once we were seated. There was plenty of room although the restaurant area was far from deserted. The menu was full of steak, burgers and pasta, typical of this kind of this type of establishment, with a specials board comprising of a mixed grill and stuffed chicken. We both opted for these with a mini-combo platter as a starter as we were starving and couldn't wait to fill our boots. The food came quickly and was very satisfying. The peppercorn sauce particularly was very nice. The service was friendly, the food was nice and plentiful and the price was reasonable. All in all we were left satisfied knowing that we had made a decent choice in The Stanhope Arms that night. Will we find a better steakhouse? Probably, however..We'll Decide!

The car parks are to the side and across the road, the latter giving you a precipitous crossing of the A511, one of the busiest roads in the area! Large billboards advertise their current deals, like 2 meals £10 before 6.30pm on a weekday, but the gaudiness of the signs remind me of American fast food establishments. The restaurant is large, well lit and separated nicely into a large drinking area to the front and dining tables to the rear, with a few more private enclosed areas for larger parties, like a family meal. A comprehensive bar selection too. The menu is thorough, but unspectacular, reasonably priced but generic, with dishes like burgers, lasagne and steak being the staple dishes, with other more interesting meals being thinner on the ground. The service is good, staff are friendly and there is just the right amount of time between courses. Being a party of three and hungry, we just had some standard dishes - chilli, lasagne and a burger. The chilli and burger didn't break any culinary boundaries, but were filling nonetheless. However, the meat lasagne seemed to have lost its meat, which was disappointing. The food is not up to the standard the Stanhope was previously known for, but if you need a reasonably priced meal, you could do a lot worse than the Stanhope. However, it wouldn't be my first choice of generic eating establishments in the area.
