    Avocado on toast

Myself and my friend went to Bills in the Bull Ring for brunch which is served til 1 on a weekend, midday in the week. We had to book about a week in advance to guarantee a seat but im glad we did as we arrived to a queue. We had good views across to St Martins Church and it is much lighter inside than its counterpart in leamington. The manager said that they were concerned that the service wouldn't be quick as it was so busy but we were in no rush so we glad to have a gap between ordering drinks and food arriving. I ordered a green smoothie - delicious and served chilled as requested, my friend had a green tea. We both chose the crushed avocado on toast with a touch of chilli and a poached egg. This was served perfectly and was reasonably priced at £6.95. We were too full for dessert but I can't wait to return as the lunch being served smelled delicious. The bathrooms were clean, the decor was cool and contemporary & there was a variety of seating and table sizes available. Can't wait to return to try the pre theatre menu - 2 courses for £10

When I have been to Bill's restaurants in other cities I have not been that impressed but this new Birmingham branch of Bills has really raised the bar for me. One thing I really like about the design here is that they have completely closed off the front of the restaurant from the bullring cutting out the noise of the mall and making it feel more cosy. The staff were all friendly and happy to help but a word of warning here this place seems pretty busy at the moment and we had to wait 15 minutes for a table. This could have been a deal breaker for me under normal circumstances given the many restaurants in the area but we were invited to take a seat on the sofas and order drinks which came quickly. I went for the Bills breakfast which was excellent both in presentation and taste. The bacon was crisp and the eggs were pretty much perfect. My friend ordered the veggie option which did also look amazing, it was served with poached eggs and a red hummus which is a pretty interesting breakfast menu option. At around £10 each for breakfast and tea this was not the cheapest option available but it is worth a try. Another great thing here is that breakfast is available until 1PM...prefect for lazy or hungover weekends where the snooze button is your friend. Good work Bill!

Halloumi sticks, sweet potato fries and chocolate milkshake

I'd never been to a Bill's restaurant before I popped in for lunch on a day off. Situated on the middle floor of the Bullring, it has a homely feel to it, with decorations I want for myself! I didn't want a lot to eat so I opted for one of their small plate items - the halloumi sticks in breadcrumbs with a side of sweet potato fries. I did indulge more on the drink by opting for a chocolate milkshake, which was huge. The halloumi sticks were very tasty and came with a side salad and pickled red onion slices, plus the mayo that came with it brought it together nicely. The sweet potato fries were nice and crunchy, always a plus. Service was excellent, they catered to my request for a quiet table, away from the children on their half term break, plus I was served quickly.

Absolutely brilliant! Warm atmosphere, great decor and attentive staff. I ordered the humous snack which was awesome as it came with veg sticks. For main I ordered the kale salad which was very very healthy, I loved the chick peas and cabbage, really crunchy! I had the crocolli sides which had an oriental twist to it, lovely. Dessert was the show stopper...chocolate brownie and ice cream. Our waiter was Apostulous and he was really attentive. Can't wait to go back.

Yummy mac and cheese with crispy onions! :)

Excellent, excellent! This was my first time at Bill's and it was a great experience! The service and the food are really good! The staff was very friendly, the restaurant has a nice, cozy atmosphere and it has a great view! The food was so delicious and there is something for everyone! I had the Thai curry with jasmine rice (£13.95) and it was so filling and so delicious with a nice spicy kick so needed especially in this cold weather! They served good portions at reasonable prices and they had excellent service! This is my favorite restaurant in Birmingham! Love it! One of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a while! :)

Had this given to me at Bull's Sheffield so I used it in Birmingham

I'd eaten at Bills a few times in Sheffield and the last time I was given a voucher for 2for1 mains so I used it for a late lunch with my mum in Birmingham. It was a Sunday, so we were told it was a 45min wait so we put our names down and went off to pick something up from Argos. On our return, the queue had gone but took us a little while to get someone's attention to see if we could be seated. We had mains and a drink each. It was good... Well mum didn't complain so must have been good ha ha It has a variety of different dishes and drinks. It's worth a visit. Look out for offers, free drinks, free meals etc!!!

First visit to Bills. A quick stop, ordered two hot chocs with cream, came with a flake too...bonus! Staff were very friendly, we were offered a jug of water when we ordered, always a plus in my eyes. Atmosphere was very relaxed. Would visit again, maybe get some food next time.

    Chocolate brownie. Of course.

The Bullring serves a lot of people every day so having a decent chain that can accommodate volume without compromising quality is a tough find. I've not visited at a peak time as I've only dined here during the week in the evening. The menu offers a fair range of dishes with some classic dishes with a Bill's twist thrown in here and there. The staff seem to be competent enough to answer questions on the food and drinks without any bother. Though any questions on validity of vouchers always seems to require double checking with a manager. Fair enough. The food has always been good here with no complaints from me or fellow dinner guests. Always nice to find a dependable place. I suppose after all that shopping in the generic High Street stores in the vicinity it's good to rest those feet and enjoy a glass of wine and dinner somewhere lovely. Not too spendy here and there are offers to be found if you sign up to their mailing list. I don't see this as anywhere to make a special trip for but it is certainly a front runner for Bullring dining options if you're in the mall.

After already having two successful restaurants in Manchester, I was very excited about visiting Bistro 1847 after hearing only good things about it. Set in the beautiful Great Western Arcade, I thought it was strange to open a restaurant here. Especially after 6pm it is the only place open usually! But the atmosphere of the restaurant complements the peacefulness of the arcade. The interior of the Bistro is minimalistic and modern. Being someone who is allergic to Dairy and Wheat intolerant (I know!), Bistro 1847 is one of few places I don't feel weird at. The whole menu is Vegetarian, with dishes that can be adjusted to vegan or gluten free or both in my view. My and my friend were feeling fat so we both went for three courses. I had the curried Swede Cauliflower, Cashew nut butter and cinnamon cornflakes. So many flavours going on in a small parcel was a great choice. For the main I had "Oh I do like to be beside the seaside" (all dishes have these quirky little names!) which is a modern Veggie twist on fish and chips in case you hadn't guessed! I had the vegan version which had two huge pieces of smoked tofu which I really struggled to finish along with the chunky chips! I wasn't defeated and enjoyed all parts of the meal. For desert I had the "Good ol fashioned lover boy" I enjoyed it although I thought maybe the chocolate was a bit over powering as was so much going on. But the jelly was a nice compliment to the richness. The menu contains a large selection of cocktails and deserts for sharing if you and your friends are in search of lots of sweetness. This was my third visit on a Sunday since opening and has been progressively busier each time which is great to see. Bistro 1847 is a very relaxing experience and ideal place for a date or a catch up with a friend. And of course the food is amazing!

Oo-ee this is indeed a very classy vegetarian restaurant…read more The decor is modern, simple and stylish - shades of white and grey, nice white table linen, with a few tables downstairs, and more upstairs on the mezzanine level. There's a large window looking on to the arcade, which is great for watching people come and go. The food was fantastic. It's a fixed price menu, at £19 for two courses, and £25 for three. There's also a pricier tasting menu - the couple sitting next to me had chosen that option, and were really enjoying it. To start, I had the puy lentils, with roasted carrot, spring onions and garlic tofu. The tofu was done as a silky sauce - I'd never had tofu prepared in that way, and I thought it was really delicious. For main course, I chose the bell pepper ragu, with polenta. Again this was superb, with the polenta served as crisp little triangles on top. Both my courses were gluten free, as well as vegan, and their menu is very clear to understand. It feels like the sort of place you can completely trust to get things right. Service was quick and friendly, and there was a nice atmosphere, with other diners just quietly enjoying their meals just as much as I was. I'll definitely be back here next time in Birmingham, and I'll look out for their restaurants in other cities too.

It normally has a couple of ales on tap (I partook of a pint of the Hereford Pale Ale last night which was most pleasant), but the wine list and bar choices are very varied.
