Not really impressed with what I got for what I paid. 15 bucks for an average pastrami sandwich, sorry "super pastrami" (apparently the onion roll justifies the "super") and a bottle of Coke. You figure they'd double the meat or at least throw in a handful of potato chips for that price, but no such luck. Sure, the flavor was on point and the cola was cold, but I had this thing devoured in like 4 bites. I thought maybe this was just the pre-sandwich app before the "Super" arrived. Dimly lit and fairly crowded, you could tell the place was a hotspot for the locals. Familiar smells and idle chatter filled the tiny dining area and kept me occupied while I waited. The Hispanic Mario brother at the counter was helpful in suggesting something a first timer wouldn't appreciate, and based solely on flavor he wasn't wrong. I wouldn't personally choose the Super Pastrami as a selling point, but the menu seemed pretty crowded so I'm sure it was a difficult decision even for a seasoned veteran of Giovanni's. Italian, Mexican, seafood, beef, pizza...the menu seemed to offer something for everyone. All in all, decent experience. Not something I'd necessarily recommend, and with all the other options in the area I probably won't go back, but I don't regret stopping in. read more

This is one of many sub places close to home. Hasn't been there before as the parking is tough and it's changed hands a bunch of times. It's cold and my kiddo didn't want leftovers so grabbed two subs. Ordered an Italian with "everything" and a chicken cutlet sub. Inside was charged an extra $1 for "everything". Obviously a mistake. Didn't add anything extra. I had already paid and just glanced at the receipt. Saw the $1. Asked. The teen girl laughed and said "not my fault the owner makes us ring in subs like that". Said she agreed. I just said it I so silly and it was bad customer service. The manager was right there. Got home and the Italian sub had no tomatoes or lettuce. I was in town visiting a friend and they suggested Giovanni's a local pizza sub business for a steak and cheese sandwich. We each ordered steak and cheese, I added mushrooms and onions to my sandwich . It was a Friday near 6pm when I walked in to pick up, my order. They were very busy with several people waiting for their orders. I prefer my steak and cheese sandwiches with no so much of the Chopping on the grill, and the cook he was majorly chopping those sandwiches. We took our to go. I've been going to Giovanni's for years but this review is for a recent catering job they did for me. I was hosting a small (ish) gathering on a Sunday evening so I wanted to keep it somewhat simple. I also have two family members who have Celiac Disease so it sort of limits what I can order and from where. Also a lot of places are closed on Sundays. I noticed Giovanni's does have a catering menu and they have gluten free pizzas so I placed an order on a Tuesday for the following Sunday. I went into the restaurant vs. calling and it was very simple. They called to confirm the morning of and they delivered right on time. The pizza, calzone and huge salad were perfect and everyone commented how good the food was. I definitely would order not only take out but also now I know the catering is just as good. Wished the quality was still like the original Giovanni's. The steak and cheese we had was rather strange. Have had many over the years. The consistency of the shaved steak was like that of almost ground hamburger. Amount was generous but that is it. Lacked flavor, and barely no cheese. Sorry I'll pass. The salad seems to change every time I get a chicken kabob salad, the dressing is thicker and there were no olives? 1 salad an extra pita and dressing $16.80 The salad was good but it just seems things changed. The person got my order didn't understand even though I repeated couple times to put the dressing on the side for both the salad and the ziti. Now the ziti came in with a table spoon of dressing inside and there's no dressing for salad at all. Also the breads are missing. Always check you order before you leave. read more

Pretty much roast beef and pizza as their name indicates although they do have quite a few other menu options. This place seems to have a mediterranean twitst. They sell what most consider Greek style pizza although I have stuck with the Roast Beef when I have went, which was good enough for my taste. BBQ, cheese, and a little mayo on a bun. The parking lot is just as awkward as the architecture of the building. The inside is just plain sad and in need of a major refresh. The food is fine though. I had Giovannis's cater my daughters birthday party. I, and all the guests were impressed with the food. I requested it to be here at 4:30 and they were here on the dot. Everything was nice and hot. They sent the salad with the onions on the side, and plenty of dressings. The chicken wings came with a variety of sauces on the side, but all my guests wanted them plain. Just walked out of there and was a little disappointed. I've been going to this place for years. Love the chicken kabob salad. The young girl behind the counter took a transaction with gloves on and went back to making a sandwich. When I said something, she seemed confused. I've tried this resaurant a few times and I can best describe it as inconsistant. The first time I went there I had an overpriced dry tastless steak, mushroom and cheese. The next time I ordered a few sandwiches for delivery and they totally forgot about me it took over 2 hours. Next try I ordered a Pizza which arrived on time and tasted very good. The other day I ordered delivery and asked for a Chicken finger dinner. When it arrived it came with No salad dressing for the salad, no ketchup for the fries, no sauce for the fingers, no salt and pepper or napkins. They just threw it in a bag with an unwrapped plastic knife and fork. I was bothered by this lack of service and called them to find out why they delivered food this way. The young lady who answered the phone seemed not to care and said "oh you have to ask for that stuff." NO. How about offering it. "Would you like some sauce, ketchup or salad dressing with that order sir?" It's not a big hurdle to get from good to great if you care. I hope they improve. read more

This place has good subs especially their cheesesteak. Everything on the menu is pretty good and it's not gonna knock your socks off but it's still good food. The cooks are very hard-working and the staff is very nice. I feel like in the past there's been some bad reviews about the staff, but I have been coming here for years and have never had a negative experience with them. They are always very nice. read more

This place is so meh that I wouldn't have thought to review it, except a funny thing happened to me today at lunch. I see on the menu "cheese steak $7.95". I order it and the person on the counter asks if I want steak and cheese which seems like a weird question since I ordered a cheese steak. I agree and the tab comes to $8.98. Since I was puzzled about how we got from $7.95 to $8.98 I asked why it ended up being $8.98. I bet you guessed it already, they charged me .50 cents for the cheese in a cheese steak! The food here is standard deli fare. The service tends to be slow compared to other delis. The pizza is food service bland ( if you are in the neighborhood Louie's and Toscanos make good pies). If you are hungry and are driving by the food is average or below but won't likely make you sick. At best you might get an absurd story about how life can be so weird. read more

I can only speak for their fried clams, as that is all I have ordered here (actually, I have been here once before but I just can't remember what I had) First they messed up my order and sold me a crab roll instead of a clam roll (which I didn't notice until after Ieft.) They were - however - very good at fixing their mistake, though the clam-roll I received did not impress. It was given to me in a hotdog bun, and the clams just seemed to be lacking in flavor somehow, as did the onion rings. Giovanni's is an above average local pizza and sub place. It's a perfect place to call in your order, and grab a sub on the way home. They also had a good-sized menu - slightly larger than the average sub place, including some salad and spaghetti options. Their pizza is fairly unremarkable - thin pizza crusty, somewhat greasy - what I normally expect from restaurants in this category. Their steak and mushroom subs were pretty good though - this ended up being my standby sandwich. Reasonable food for a reasonable price, and convenient too - hard to go wrong with that. My only beef is that they only serve soda by the can or bottle. I prefer unlimited fountain drinks in my subshops. =) Food: Decent menu, reasonably well prepared. Service: Efficient, even during busy times. Call ahead for maximum efficiency. Value: Good value - not expensive. Ambiance: Better-than-average seating area for a sub-shop, I'd say. Clean, well maintained. The kitchen is very visible too, and looks clean. They have their own parking lot. Just be careful you don't park in the one spot that is underneath their grille vent - you'll get grease spots on your car! read more

Classic sub shop done well. I would go again although I found a better sub shop in the area since. Some homemade items here and there like veal cutlet, dough, breaded Chicken. A REAL struggle to get a Chicken salad wrap, After waiting about 30 minutes for some one to scoop pre-made chicken salad onto a wrap and roll it up, I asked what was taking so long. I was handed a Hot sub of some sort and told this was it. I said is this chicken salad on a wrap, and she answered yes. When I was skeptical and opened it, found a hot grilled chicken kabob. I returned it, and explained I ordered a cold chicken salad WRAP. We catered food for a family event, and it was delicious. We had chicken, steak tips and sausages for meats; veggies, rice and potato. Terrible service gave me the wrong food and the chicken on my salad wasn't even cooked. When I brought it back no apology they just thought it was funny . They don't wear gloves or hair nets or anything. And when I got home they with my second salad I realized they gave me the wrong dressing and it was labeled wrong. Don't recommend at all. read more
