I was a bit surprised that it takes 45 minutes cooking time for their pizza, so opted for the personal size pizza that was delivered pretty quickly. Service was pretty good. Cost for a glass of soda is higher than most at $3.50 What I really disliked was the dishonesty in pricing. This restaurant tacks on an additional 3% Surcharge on the total bill when you receive it. Coming out of Des Moines, I asked the recommendation of a friend on the best pizza in Chicago. He recommended Giordiano's. In was in all caps. Never having a deep dish pizza before, I was nervous. I should have been scared. This pizza was HUGE, CHEESY, MEATY, and oh my GAWD awesome. When the server came and dished up the first piece, the cheese string was 4 feet long. The taste??? AMAZING!!! I ordered the meatball sandwhich and asked for Mozzarella and Provolone cheese (can there really be too much cheese on a pizza or sandwich?!?!? The sandwich was solid (not awesome but good). I would order it again. I am a little bit of a meatball sandwich snob so take my conservative rating with a grain of salt. You won't be disappointed with this sandwich. The sandwich was 3-3.5 stars. Why the 5 star rating you ask. The guy behind the counter (lunchtime on a Tuesday, I assume he was the manager) was great. He greeted me in a pleasant and professional manner and then told me it would be a couple more minutes until my order was ready (ordered on-line) and that if I'd like I could wait in my car and he would have it brought out. So I opted to try a flat bread (I know, I know - totally unacceptable at a Chicago-style pizza joint - I'll agree with you), but why not? I ordered the spinach, artichoke, and feta flatbread. It was terrible. Greasy. Oily. Dripping. Did I mention it was smothered in mozarella (?). The vegetables were nearly worthless - hidden under heaps of cheese (another reason I ordered this instead of deep dish was in an effort to eat "healthier"). Even the feta was elusive! It was drenched. And the crust was *FAR* too crunchy - near impossible to bite and chew, or cut with a knife. Way too over-cooked - or re-heated? Flying in from California, my hotel recommended Giordano's as the place to go get typical deep dish. Is it the best of the best? Probably not over a local mom n' pop shop who know the names of all their normals, but as an out of towner it was the pizza I probably needed as the bunny slopes to my deep dish journey. I ordered a custom pie with broccoli, ground beef, and garlic. The portions were generous of course, as I imagine it would be hard to skimp on such a concoction of dough and cheese. The staff here was great at accommodating my dietary restrictions and went above and beyond to make sure my pizza was tailored and customized perfectly. Speaking of service, it may have been a bit slow, but staff was friendly and attentive overall. Often times, I think diners attribute slow to lazy, but I think the speed had to do with the cooking times and number of staff on hand. If anything, I thought my servers were quick to follow up. This spot also benefits by being in a good shopping locale, so I was able to walk off a bit of the food afterwards. 4/5 for food and friendliness, with room for improvement in floor logistics. read more

I rarely complain about service issues but my last delivery experience really leaves me questioning if I would ever place another order from Giordanos. It may seem trivial to some, but as a 74 year old woman with mobility issues, it's not trivial at all. In the 12+ years I've lived at this location and ordered food for delivery, never has the delivery person expected me to go down to the entry door to get my food. Yes, I am on the 3rd floor, but it's a TOTAL of 24 stairs. When the driver called to advise she had arrived and I should go down to get my food I was really taken by surprise. Note, in the delivery notes I stated please ring bell #301 for access. when I did manage to get down the stairs, she was just standing there laughing and talking with someone on her cell. I should have said "NO" and told her to cancel the order. With local restaurants doing everything possible to recover from the pandemic I am stunned with this level of service. She was young, probably early 20's, certainly capable of climbing 24 easy stairs but just pathetically lazy. And for this I paid a $4 delivery charge, a 3% surcharge plus included a 15% tip when I ordered. LESSON LEARNED! She not only lost me as a Giordanos customer, but does a great disservice to other drivers who genuinely care about the customers. read more

Stopped through town and picked up some pizza to go. We ordered the personal 6" size and some small size pizzas. The 6" is plenty because it is so thick. Tons of food. Those that ordered smalls had food for 2-3 meals. Quality ingredients, tasty crust, well balanced and executed. I would go back again. I created my own, pesto chicken, artichoke hearts, and spinach. This was close to our hotel on grand and I saw this place open near my home in Arizona, can't say I'll be rushing over there anytime soon! Here's why: Jamie was our server and we started with salad and the stack of plates she brought us one in the middle was a a very dirty plate not like it just didn't get cleaned properly more like it didn't get cleaned at all! I made her very aware she said she would let the manager know and he never once said a peep! My family and I flew in from Hawaii to attend the navy graduation. Finding a spot (that didn't require us to head into the city) with delicious deep dish pizza was on our "to-do" list. After much research and getting a suggestion from a guy that worked at foot locker we ended up here. It was AMAZING! I looked at my husband and said "we need this kind of pizza back home" or if we do (and we are born & raised in Hawaii) someone needs to share the location back home lol We also ordered the cheese bread, Italian salad & the bruschetta bread. The waiter ended up forgetting about bruschetta order (which was totally fine, since we were getting stuffed before the main dish came out). Pizza Pizza This location is my go-to for deep dish in the IL burbs. It's easy to get to off the hwy and makes for a good stop when traveling downtown or to/fro the airport. I did have one snafu on a web order - I had placed it for pickup greater 60 min and my wife stopped to pickup while driving by. When she got there, they had no pizza and said the order had not been completed. I talked to the manager and told him I had an order confirmation but all he could do was ask us to wait 45 min+ to get the order in. Heard a lot of good things about Giordano's. My son and I came to Chicago for a cubs game, looking for some good food. Living in NY, I have tried a lot of pizza, yet i wanted the Chicago deep dish. Googled the closest restaurant near six flags, google directed us to this location When we walked in, we were greeted within a minute or so. The hostess brought us to our table. This is where i took 1 star away. It took approximately 7-8 minutes before someone came to our table. I believe her name was Sarah? Came over and greeted us. She was extremely pleasant, took our drink orders. She came back very quickly and proceeded to take our dinner order as well. On the menu it does say expect to wait about 40 minutes or so for a pizza. I ordered a personal pan pizza while my son ordered boneless wings. Our waitress brought us a small pitcher of soda while we were waiting. We definitely enjoyed the decor inside of this restaurant. I am a pizza junkie, loved the sign that said "thou shall eat pizza". Took a picture of this and sent it to family, friends back home, who got a kick out of it as well. Anywho, it was about 40 min later when our food came out. I was not disappointed. The pizza was fantastic. The crust, i have never had a crust like this. This was definitely different than the ny style of pizza that i am used to. My son enjoyed his wings as well. We're in town visiting from Cincinnati and had heard such great things about Giordano's. We had dinner there tonight and really don't understand what the hype was about. The pizza tasted like skating rink pizza and was very dry. I asked the server for some ranch but she told me they were out. UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE, GURNEE GIORDANO'S. The franchise owner's have yet to reply to my email, which is commensurate with the service I received at their location. Dear Giordano's Gurnee Franchise Owner: I ordered $60 worth of pizza at your Gurnee location on Christmas Eve for my family. We were left without a meal and no place was open. The management at your restaurant is unprofessional, and extremely poor customer satisfaction. I am absolutely livid at the poor level or service and lack of ability to "make things right." My order was never received, despite receiving an email confirmation. The manager said this had also happened to one or two other orders that day. This is not the customer's problem. Nothing was offered to make the situation right, other than saying, "we can make your pizza now." I drove 20 minutes to pick the pizza up on Christmas Eve, after waiting 75 minutes for it to be cooked; only to show up at 7pm when your restaurant was closing and be told "we didn't receive oyur order." He didn't even apologize. I asked for a gift card for the inconvenience and he said, 'all i can give you is $25 dollars." I said, that was an insult and left. As a business owner myself, it astounds me at what little a manager is willing to do to right their wrong and keep a customer satisfied, especially in a day and age where social media, yelp, and twitter can make or break your business. Apparently, it's not worth an additional $25 to keep a customer's return business and prevent them from ripping the restaurant apart on yelp. Very poor management skills. In the end, your franchise will suffer because of the poor customer service skills of the management you hired. read more

Great pizza loved all the extra cheese in the pizza. The salad had a great flavor (lemon vinaigrette dressing). Loved the fact that they bibs for the new Sailors (long ones too). We were seated quickly however the service was extremely slow - we had to continuously ask for refills on drinks. We needed seating for five older teenagers and a separate table for two adults. celebrating our daughters sweet 16 birthday and were traveling back to Wisconsin after spending the day at the Shedd Aquarium. After my son's Navy graduation, we all decided to stuff our faces here. After all, this is Chicago style deep-dish country right? When we arrived we were greeted and seated right away. The restaurant was fairly busy with locals and other sailor families who had the same idea. We got a couple pitchers of soda then we ordered their 14" Large Stuffed Pizza "Special" - Sausage, Mushrooms, Green peppers and Onions. Naturally, stuffed or deep dish pizzas take a bit longer to cook versus thin or pan crust style but it's definitely well worth the wait! When this thing hit the table, it was cooked perfectly and piping hot. The cheese looked like lava slowly oozing out of a volcano. I am NOT one to write reviews but was so put off by the experience that I had to. My husband and I came for dinner. He waited at the door for 10 minutes to add our name to the wait list. Meanwhile I grabbed a few empty seats at the tiny bar. I ordered us a bottle of wine. The bartender/server looked at me and repeated "a bottle???". I replied yes a bottle of your 'Louis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon'. Seemed like a simple request in my mind. She then said "do you have an ID". I handed over my ID (37 years old and while I'd like to think I look 21 her asking wasn't because she couldn't figure out my age but asked with a very snarky tone). After looking at my ID she walked away and went into the back without saying a word to me. The manager came out and said she couldn't sell me a bottle of wine. I asked why SINCE IT'S ON THE MENU. He said she isn't allowed to sell one person a bottle of wine. Now first of all, in IL you can have a bottle corked and take it home. Maybe that was my intention so denying me was odd but NOPE- his reasoning was that because I was alone they wouldn't sell a bottle. She never took the time to ask if I was alone. Had my husband not been waiting to get out names on the wait list (because no one was coming over) I wouldn't have been alone BUT if I wanted to have a glass and take the rest home- it's my decision. I was appalled that the manager was denying my request for in him doing so was suggesting my plans were to sit solo to down a bottle. DON'T PLACE AN ORDER FOR DELIVERY! Placed an online order at 5:30 and site said the order would be delivered between 6:38-6:48. Called at 7:15 and again at 7:30 and they said it'd be here any minute. Arrived at almost 8:15, the pizza was cold and hard, salad was hot, tiramisu was melted into a mess and my kids meal was cold and had fries instead of broccoli. Was not cheap either. Why lie to me over the phone? The crust was also thicker than I remember for a thin crust. As for dine in, it always takes forever as well and customer service wasn't strong either.
