    A terribly made pizza

Order this tonight spent a decent amount of money on this and it is completely undercooked all sloshed over to one side. This is the second time it has happened so and I'm already done ordering from here.

    Delivery box with deliciousness inside!

Visiting from the DC Metro area for my daughter's wedding this weekend. Big pizza lover, have always wanted to try Lou Malnati's as well as a few other big well known places, was excited this was an option this weekend! Ordered delivery online, very easy website to navigate. Just the boyfriend and I staying at our hotel, so just one pizza to order, decided on a large deep dish, regular cook, with jalapenos all over, sausage on one half, pepperoni on the other. Took a little over an hour on a weekend evening, I thought that was very fair considering I make Chicago style deep dish at home and it takes at least 45 minutes to bake in a non commerical oven. Pizza arrived piping hot, uncut per their recommendation, perfectly cooked. Pepperoni is my true love when it comes to pizza toppings, especially when paired with jalapenos, but man, that sausage was the bomb! If we lived here this would *absolutely* be a minimum once a month order. I look forward to my next visit here (alas, probably not for another year) to try them again!

The interior, however, is very dark and could benefit from better lighting. Service was disappointing. Despite having plenty of wait staff and not many customers, we waited long and had a hard time getting attentive service. The food itself showed promise and was flavorful overall. Unfortunately, the pasta was cooked too al dente for my taste, especially the ravioli, which was on the verge of being undercooked. The biggest letdown was the cleanliness. An ant crawled up my arm during our meal, and we noticed several flies, bugs in the dining area. I truly wanted to enjoy and support this local restaurant, but the lack of attentive service and cleanliness issues made it difficult to overlook the negatives.

We had heard they were busy, many times with wait times. So we were surprised. The ambiance is really nice, A really nice Italian dinner restaurant. I started with an Old Fashioned and it was one of the better ones I have had. They really nailed it. There are a couple on their menu so I was sure to say "not the one with soda/selter". That a Wisconsin one :) We asked if the Caesar was large enough to split to start. They said yes. Great. There were 3 tables filled so it was finally not empty. Not sure why the bar seating was empty- looked like a great place to sit too. After ten minutes we gave our order, Chicken Piccata for my wife and I had the Pork Chop special. The waiter didn't come by and we didn't get our salad. He was busy making drinks for one larger party (the 4th table). Finally our entree's came. I asked what happened to our salad. He looked confused. I reminded him we asked if it was large enough to split and we would start with it. He was genuinely sorry. It happens. Then we ate the entree's. My wife's Chicken was flavorful and served hot. It was very good. My pork chop was closer to room temp rather than hot. The flavor was really good. Unfortunately I have a thing about eating my food hot, not on the cold side. I told the waiter. He was sorry and asked if he could have them heat it up. I passed .... Didn't want dryer food while my wife ate alone. The manager came over and insisted it didn't sit at the window. Not sure WHY he wanted to argue this point. I offered the plate so he could taste or even feel the dish at that point. He seemed genuinely wanting to help, but he didn't need to make us feel like we were wrong. Again - not the end of the world. So why 3 stars? My wife's food was great. The taste of mine was good. They didn't charge us for my dinner. Their Old Fashioned was out of this world (ask Omar to make it). The truth is we want to try it again and see if this was a glitch. If it wasn't a glitch, it's why they weren't packed on a Friday night.

We are, by habit, second-chance diners. A restaurant deserves to be judged on the evening in front…read moreof it rather than on its history, and Primo had a history with us. Across a few visits many years ago, neither the cooking nor the service ever gave us a reason to return, and for a long while we didn't. A recent family dinner at what is now Primo Steak and Seafood in Gurnee, formerly Primo Italian American Cuisine, was a chance to start over, and Primo made good use of it. The evening began well. We were greeted warmly and invited to choose our own booth, a small courtesy that sets a generous tone. Primo presents itself as a cross between the classic American steakhouse and the Italian restaurant, staged in a grand room of high ceilings and marble, and the setting lives up to the billing. We liked the mood of the place, and, no small thing these days, the noise level allowed for easy conversation across the table. The booths are mostly comfortable, though the table sat closer to me than I would have liked for the entire evening. It never spoiled the meal, but I never stopped noticing it. Service was the clearest sign of progress. Our server was excellent: helpful, attentive, and genuinely good at the job. For a restaurant that once lost us partly on service, that alone marked a real turnaround. The bar held up its end as well. Cocktails and wine alike were very good, and the choices on offer are well considered, with a wine list that runs past a hundred bottles. The kitchen was less even. Soups and salads were good but not great, competent openers that did their job without lingering in memory. Most of our table ordered fish, and here Primo was at its best: every entrée was very good, which seems only fitting for a restaurant that now puts seafood in its name. The trouble was the plating. Presentation lagged behind the cooking, and the dishes arrived looking less considered than they tasted. In a room this handsome, at a restaurant with these ambitions, the eye deserves the same care as the palate, and presentation is the area most in need of attention. Taken as a whole, this was a far better showing than anything Primo had given us before: gracious hospitality, excellent service, a strong bar, very good fish, and a room where you can actually hear one another. The distance between a good evening here and a memorable one now comes down largely to a few refinements on the plate. We'll likely be back, hoping to find the presentation has caught up with the cooking.

We both ordered the 8 oz filet mignon, and it did not disappoint -- cooked perfectly and super flavorful. Her daughter got the kids steak and fries -- the steak was great, fries were just decent. Now let's talk about the appetizer... the shrimp with the Parmesan crust? 10/10. Easily the star of the night. We also shared a bottle of Riesling, which was only about $24, making it super affordable. Service was lovely. The staff checked in just enough without being overbearing, and they even surprised us with a birthday brownie, which was such a sweet touch. The ambiance was also really nice -- one of those versatile spots where you can dress it up or keep it casual. I had on a tailored sweatsuit, my sister wore jeans, and we still felt perfectly in place. It's definitely a spot you could come to for a date night, family dinner, or even a corporate happy hour. Overall, our bill came out to around $160, which felt completely worth it for the quality, service, and experience. I'd absolutely come back.

So wrong!! A REAL Chicago pizza is basically a full-blown cheese & toppings filled pie with a thick bottom crust, generous amount of cheese and the sauce piled on top like the grand finale. We stopped at Giordano's in Gurnee and ordered a 14-inch build-your-own w beef, mushrooms, and onions. "Large" apparently means "feeds a small village" because this thing was massive, easily enough for a family of 5!!! Every slice came with that dramatic, slow-motion cheese pulls that make everyone at the table stop talking and start taking pictures!!! The ingredients tasted fresh, the cheese was gloriously gooey, and each slice was hearty enough to qualify as a meal and a half. We also grabbed the mozzarella triangles and buffalo wings bc apparently self-control wasn't invited to dinner. The mozzarella triangles were crispy, cheesy little pockets of happiness, and the wings brought just the right amount of buffalo kick. Both were absolutely delicious and disappeared way faster than they should have. The service was fantastic too!! Drinks never stayed empty for long, and the staff was attentive throughout the meal.
