I should have stuck with the basics. What an odd selection of flavors. When I walked in, which is a little confusing as to where the entrance is, I was met with lots of woods and chalkboards. Very nice. The restaurant itself is huge. The entrance side has seating and the largest side is all dining area. There is even seating outside. With this much seating and what clearly looks to be expansion, I expected top notch food. As I looked over the menu, I noticed they had a biscuit and homemade sausage gravy and for $4 more, they will add fried chicken. I order and chose hash browns since the waitress (who was very good) suggested it. Additionally, I chose to go with scrambled eggs. The massive plate of food came out and I was a little stunned. It was when I took a bite that all hope disappeared. I started with just a bit of biscuit. Not a biscuit. I am not sure what it was, but that is not a biscuit. Maybe a pancake made with biscuit batter? Next, I tried the biscuit with the sausage gravy. My brain had to pause for what it really was. Why is the sausage gravy sweet? Maple syrup? Where is the spice? What is going on? Then I tried the three together: biscuit, sausage gravy, and fried chicken breast. I am so glad they provided a steak knife to cut it because it was so tough and not worth the $4. The hash browns had no flavor (likely from a bag) and the scrambled eggs were definitely coming from a carton. The eggs had that weird texture eggs shouldn't have. read more

The perfect Brunch spot! The food hit the spot and came out in a reasonable time, despite being so busy. The lattes are nice. The Blood Mary's are yummy and not watery. I had the Carnitas Eggs Benedict, the meat was moist and the salsa was fresh. The only negative was that there was no Hollandaise on this type, so I had to order it on the side :/ The steak skillet was fresh and yummy, except too many Bell peppers. We had a great visit here. My kids have been here before, but some of us have not. There was a group of 6 of us. We ordered the Churro Iced Latte and waters to start. Followed by the meals as follows: Chicken & Waffles with bacon on the side and hashbrowns, Carnita Skillet with pancakes, Southern Biscuits and Gravy with hashbrowns and extra gravy ($5 WOW), Full Order Banana Hazelnut French Toast (strawberry instead of banana), Steak Chilaquiles with English Muffin, Chicken and Waffle with hashbrowns and cheese and last an order of hashbrowns with cheese on top to-go. We got the hashbrowns, no cheese ($7), and by the time we were told he was already in the car leaving. No remake, no refund. Our server, Ana G, was nice and attentive. Seems like they creamed the spinach or something and then added roasted cherry tomatoes. It was mush and so unappetizing. The coffee was good but my food was terrible. While I was visiting home, I wanted to catch up with my best friends over brunch, so we decided on Riverside Cafe. Since we met on a Sunday at 11 AM, there was about a 25-30 minute wait, but we didn't mind waiting. Once we were seated, our server gave us plenty of time to look over the menu. We spent the first 15 minutes just catching up since it had been a while but thankfully, our server was incredibly patient with us. I ended up ordering the Denver Skillet along with some French Toast. The ingredients tasted fresh and the skillet was flavorful, especially after I added some hot sauce lol. The French Toast was just as good. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a cozy, small-town cafe vibe. We had our annual sibling holiday breakfast here this past weekend. They were able to accommodate our large group (we had called ahead). It looks like they expanded their space since the last time we were here. Our server Anna was great. She was on her game with our big group. I was pleasantly surprised that my order for black coffee came with my own carafe so I don't have to wait for a refill! Everyone seemed to enjoy their breakfast. I had the Carnitas Skillet. It was yummy - but a very hearty serving. I couldn't finish it all. The ambiance was bright and lively. It's a very family friendly place. I also appreciated the diversity of the crowd. This was a really nice breakfast restaurant. There was plenty of parking , it is locates in a strip mall. We went on mother's day. We got in a bit early and had no trouble sitting down right away. The wait staff were very professional. We ordered a variety of breakfast dishes and all were delicious. The prices seemed very reasonable and there were large portion sizes. We also ordered coffee, americano and some children drinks. The drinks were made well and the presentation was pretty cool as well. All in all a really nice place to eat. Ordered the Farmer's Daughter French Toast. Very disappointed. Arrived to the table cool temp. The bread must have been dipped in the egg mixture for a split second as when you cut into it - it is simply dry bread. With thick bread you would let it soak thru in the egg mixture then cook/bake until the inside is cooked. They placed a small scoop of marscipone in between the 2 slices of bread without spreading. I visited this restaurant today and I had high expectations after seeing the pictures and reviews on yelp. Upon arriving there was a rude waitress that literally blocked a door so I wouldn't enter and with a fake smile said "the entrance is on the other side, sir" but not even a greeting or politeness. I was sat by the hostess and it took a while for someone to come take my drink order and again to order. I ordered a combo meal with crepes and the food lacked seasoning. The crepes were ok, they were thicker and not as crispy as I've had them at other places. The food came out surprisingly quick which made me think that they have a lot of these food items already made or cooked ready to be served on a plate. I then had to wait again to get my bill. I can see why a lot of people get confused and think the exit is an entrance as the sign is hard to read and there are tables right outside of it and you could hardly see the entrance and there's no sign that says entrance or check in with hostess. Most of the servers didn't seem very friendly. I don't know if I'd be back. read more

I was looking for a Brunch/Lunch spot in Gurnee, read their reviews and decided to give it a try. It was busy since it a Holiday Week but luckily they were able to seat my party of 5 right away. We were seated by the window and could see the Six Flags coasters across the parking lot. I ordered the Green Chilaquiles with Steak off their Holiday menu. Chilaquiles can be hit or miss depending where you go, but these tasted fantastic! It comes with a side too and I chose the Pancakes, it was a lot of food so I ended it up taking most of it home.
