It's difficult to find a farm steak sandwich but they serve it here. I stopped in specifically to have this with hash browns as I've been eating this breakfast meal for some 40 years but it's only served in the Waukegan area and only a few restaurants offer it. The service was great, the Ambiance was nice but the food is lacking seasoning. I really enjoyed my crepes, the food is cooked really well but when it comes to seasoning there is none the eggs where bland had to add extra salt and hot sauce. The potatoes again were bland just fried had to add hot sauce and Ketchup and the coffee was weak like as if it was an extra light roast blend or there wasn't enough coffee grounds added. I overall would eat here again if the seasoning gets better. read more

Last night we enjoyed a concert at the beautiful Genesee Theatre. Before leaving the area, we ate breakfast at Sunset House Restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and quickly greeted by our server. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and potato pancakes. Within minutes, we were served! Excellent food and a lovely, friendly, and responsive staff. It smells old in the building as if the floors are not cleaned properly.... I had a hunger headache and was subject to doing what I had to do to get something on my stomach..... I should've just went to McDonald's and I haven't eaten mcdonalds in 7 years..... the food is cheap ... Ihop is better than this and I don't even like Ihop ‍‍‍‍ I have very high standards for breakfast restaurants because you can't mess up breakfast... but needless to say I threw up my food an hour after consumption ..... We still tipped 30% of the bill because we never take food service for granted but the food was poorly made and you tell it was cheap ingredients used. Wow, I was impressed! My wife and I were looking for a different spot from out usual breakfast spot, so we went to yelp. There are couple places around us that have the dinner style food and prices. Compared to : Full Moon, the point , peacock family restaurant, this is my favorite. The prices are super cheap, most omelets are only $5.99 and coffee is $1.25. Which is a steal!! We were visiting from Florida and found this little place on yelp. We stopped in and were immediately greeted by the nice lady. She gave us great recommendations for the food and nothing she said was wrong( we tried it all). By the end of the meal we asked if she could be our grandmother and fly back with us. I enjoyed finding this older diner--you know you're going to be taken care of in a place like this. And I was. I ordered the biscuit and gravy with eggs, which came out quickly and was done perfectly. Except I didn't like the gravy. At all. They took it off my bill and offered all kinds of replacements, including fresh pie, but the eggs and sausage had filled me up. Had a horrible experience there today, ordered the New York strip steak for lunch. The steak looked like horrible lunch meat and had zero seasoning or sauce on it. Owner came up to me and told me they do not season any meat there whether it be burgers or anything. What kind of establishment doesn't season their food? She offered to take my steak in the back and season it and cook the same piece of meat again when I asked for medium well for my steak. She refused a discount or to switch my food.with something else. I also told her that if they don't season anything it should say so in their menu, which is does not. I paid 15 dollars when I left all of my food on the plate.The only good part about visiting was our waitress K for short. I wish I remembered her full name but she was fantastic. Beautiful location that still has that old dinner feel to it. I have been here a few times and I love their breakfast food. You have a lot of options on the menu but I only tried their breakfast selection so far. Prices are not too bad but to get the best deal check out their weekly specials which they always have going on, any changes to those options will cost you. Location is easy to find and plenty of parking available, good for groups and well spaced. This is a well run restaurent and the staff does a great job. Staff is friendly and it's generally clean. Typical dinner food but it's average at best. Coffee is stale and tastes like they reuse the grounds. Hash browns are under cooked and completely tasteless. I would not recommend going here for breakfast. Maybe lunch is better but I won't be trying it out myself. read more

Came in at 1030 on a Sunday. Amazed that it was not that crowded like seemingly every other breakfast place is on Lake County. Seated immediately, quick service, drinks kept full the whole time. I had country fried steak and eggs with home fries. Steak had task breading and the gravy was outstanding. Home fries cooked just right. My girlfriend had Spanish burrito and it was very good. Grind their coffee beans on site. Prices were reasonable, interior looked like a Greek diner from the 80s. We will absolutely be back, great experience. read more
