How am I just now trying this place the food is SO fresh and delicious. We love ordering breakfast on the weekend but somehow never ordered from here. Well that's about to change. I got the egg and potato burrito and my husband got an egg burger. Then we split French toast and a chia seed pudding. Everything delivered with a label on what it was and it was all so neatly packaged. This will be our new go to breakfast spot. I think next time we will physically check it out instead or ordering.
Staff was very helpful and food was perfect. A little pricey but what isn't nowadays. Nice, clean spot but can imagine it's very busy in the mornings.
My friend and I stopped by to get some grab and go breakfast before taking the train into Chicago. I have got to say the classic egg sandwich and the classic in a bowl egg breakfast was delicious and probably some of the best egg related breakfast I've ever had. The service was extremely quick and friendly and there is a lot of tables to sit inside and on the back patio of the location. Their menu is expansive as well with lots of other breakfast bowls and egg sandwich options I would want to try. If I'm ever back in libertyville I am definitely returning.
Expensive, but good! I got the hangover bowl and cold brew. Cold brew tasted like an iced coffee but it was still ok. Four stars because it is pricey. However it was good so I still recommend.
Ordered DoorDash and it did not disappoint! Mad I didn't from there in the past! Cannot wait to order more
Well, this place was a PLEASANT SURPRISE! Love the tongue in cheek sign out front and the cheerful and bold decor inside. Service was exceptional. Got to sample some fresh squeezed juices when placing my order and OMG. TO DIE FOR. Ordered the simple bowl. Just scrambled eggs over cubed potatoes, with cheddar and avocado. Not sure it can get any better. You can tell the eggs are local and fresh! Coffee was good too. Glad I found this place and can't wait to go back! A+

This place has delicious food!! I got the Classic on a Roll with the wicked bacon sooo worth it, I also got the 4 French Toast Babies. The employees are super friendly and to me that's very important when it comes down to a restaurant, one more reason for me to go back. Their merch is also super cute! Thank you for the great experience!!
Waking up with a hankering for french toast and eggs, I perused my handy dandy Uber Eats app and stumbled upon The Wicked Egg. The price point and options were exactly what I was looking for and it was close enough that I'd be eating by the time I finished up some quick work. I ordered the french toast sans powdered sugar, an over easy egg, and truffle salt potatoes. The food arrived quickly and was still warm, but as I started opening items I had a little concern with the potatoes being incredibly overcooked. I tried a potato and they tasted exactly how they looked... burnt. Mind you, this was my first time meeting TWE. But I figured I could save it by masking the burnt flavor with some cheese and sautéd onions so I put it in the oven to hold heat at a low temperature to avoid burning them further but keep everything warm. Welp, the cheese and onions couldn't mask the flavor of burnt so I just ate the sautéd onions with the egg. But as I ate the egg I found it was undercooked with quite a bit of white still raw. I should probably be more concerned about the whites being undercooked, but I continued to eat the egg regardless until I crunched into shell. That was enough of that. On the positive side, the french toast was exactly what I was looking for and cooked to the perfect temperature. It is a smaller portion, but that's exactly what I wanted. I wouldn't be opposed to the french toast again, but given the egg and potato debacles, I'm not really keen on eating there again. Part of me wants to give grace because mistakes happen because I could forgive the egg, but there is no way that anyone packaged those potatoes and said, "Ah, yes, perfect. Burnt, just like our customers like them." The lack of care of what they send out of the kitchen doesn't give me any confidence in the quality or safety of food handling so for me TWE is a no.
Stopped into Wicked Egg for a Saturday fast-casual breakfast treat. This shop is located in the heart of downtown Libertyville. The inside has a cheeky design featuring every type of colorful egg decor one can while still being tasteful. The menu offers a variety of egg inspired brunch items from sandwiches to potato bowls, salads, sandwiches, and classic items. My fiancé and I each got a sandwich. I got the Keep It Simple and added avocado. This standard comes on a brioche bun with scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, and their signature sauce. There was plenty of egg to go around but I wished there was more of their signature sauce in it to add more flavor. My fiancé got The Classic which came with an over medium egg, bacon, cheddar cheese, sauce, also on brioche bun. His had a ton of bacon and way less egg to pair with it. He also tried their Sriracha sauce which added a nice heat. Overall, everything here is made to order and fresh. My only complaint is some of the ingredient ratios seemed off. If balanced, some of the flavors would pop and pair better. We left feeling content but not full which was nice.
adorable place. very bright & very orange. the avocado toast was incredible! i loved all the cheese, seeds, seasonings.. rly tasty stuff. the staff were very friendly, too. excited to come back here. zero complaints. also loved learning about the farm they were partnered with. so it seems eggs taste much better when they come from happy chickens
I've been meaning to check out The Wicked Egg, and it was the perfect late morning meal when you want good food without the fuss. I had the Classic on the brioche bun with an add on of Wicked Bacon. They did not skimp on the bacon! The bun held up nicely, not soggy and not burnt. Goldilocks would approve! My son got the Benedict bowl and it must've been great because he inhaled it and asked for a bite of my sandwich. We were offered a sample of the house made green juice -fresh, tasty, and a bright green, and the house made hot sauce was tasty but a little on the mild side for us. Overall, a great addition to Mainstreet. We will be back to try the burger and the burrito!
I've wanted to try this place out for a while and finally had the opportunity, and I am so happy it lived up to my expectations! I'm kinda picky with how eggs are made, and their fluffy scrambled eggs really hit the spot! Their chorizo, wicked jam, and house-made hot sauce are all really flavorful and tasty. Their green juice, which is made fresh every morning and sealed in 12oz bottles is really delicious, definitely one of the best versions I've had. I really appreciate how they use pineapple and orange juice as the base instead of apple juice. The service here was amazing- everyone was so friendly and helpful, and they explained the menu when we mentioned it was our first time here. Even though no one else was eating in at 10am on a Tuesday, the door was constantly ringing with take out and delivery orders. They seem super popular, for good reason. Good quality of ingredients, fast preparation, and reasonably priced! I do highly recommend eating in if you have a chance, they have a great atmosphere! Upbeat music, silly puns on the walls, and right now lots of tasteful fall decor!
Found this place while searching for a place to eat breakfast while visiting IL. It had almost 5 stars on Yelp so we gave it a try. It's a small place on the inside with limited seating but there was space for our party of 6. The staff is very friendly. It's a bit expensive but absolutely worth it. Everything is very fresh. From the fresh made juices to the fruit to the eggs...it's all fresh and delicious. I would 1000% eat here again. read more
Quirky, quintessential, eggs. When you walk in, this place is like walking into a cartoon with the egg yolks colored walls and misspelled (on purpose) words on the walls. It is counter service so probably best to figure it out online before walking in. I ordered "the classic" with wicked bacon and a side of potatoes. I was feeling experimental today and this was where I went with it. The classic sandwich has an over medium egg with cheddar cheese, their "wicked sauce" (a tomato aioli) and I added the "wicked bacon" which was a sweetened bacon. The flavor contrast of the sauce and the bacon against the brioche bun, egg and cheese make the salty sweet contrast very subtle. The potatoes on the side were lovely. Salty, savory goodness which I wish were a little crispier. It was good. Overall, it was good. The price was a bit of a drag for me though. read more
Wicked Egg is okay--not horrible, but definitely not excellent. While I love and appreciate their farm-to-table concept, the execution just isn't there yet to justify the premium cost. Nearly everything we ordered lacked basic seasoning. On top of that, the kitchen struggled with egg temperatures; both the scrambled eggs and the over-medium eggs were noticeably underdone (the over-medium egg arrived closer to over-easy and broke entirely into the rest of my food). On the bright side, the juices were fresh and very good. Ultimately, the food is highly overpriced for the quality you receive. Breakfast for four came out to over $100. If you're going to charge top-notch prices, the execution needs to be top-notch too. Hopefully, they can tighten up their kitchen consistency, but for now, it's a bit of a letdown. read more

What a fabulous breakfast stop in downtown Libertyville. I decided to try this place out as I wanted somewhere quick but not fast food. I ordered online which was super easy; there are so many substitution options available, all of which are also very easy online. My food was ready for pick up in 5 minutes. I ordered the Denver bowl and substituted the ham with bacon. The potatoes were thick cut southern style hash browns. The bacon was crispy, chopped, and a generous portion, the cheese was delicious, however the eggs seemed a little skimpy. You can add extra egg for $2 - but that feels like a steep up charge for a bowl that is already $12. All in all, it was a great bowl and it did feel like a decent sized bowl for the price, despite the amount of eggs. This is definitely a place that I'd go again to try something different. read more

The wicked egg is exactly the breakfast vibes you'd find in the city. This is hands down the best breakfast in the area! Service was fast and there are plenty of options to choose from. I ended up ordering a breakfast sandwich with turkey bacon and it was the tastiest breakfast sandwich I've ever had! Also got the salmon bagel and it did not disappoint. It was super fresh and had the perfect amount of cream cheese. The employees were very nice and gave me a sample of their green juice to try. You can really tell all the ingredients they use are fresh and everything is homemade - including their hot sauce! Their hot sauce is so good that I'm about to just buy a bottle up if they have it. Prices are a bit on the higher side but they give you what looks like 4 eggs in a sandwich so the portion sizes make it reasonable. This is definitely a must try in the Libertyville area! read more

First time here and the food was quite delicious. But the service was even better! Friendly, quick, and wanted to give us farm fresh eggs to take but we had a flight to catch. The gesture was very sweet and just shows the quality of this establishment and its staff. 10/10 would recommend. read more

This morning, we tried a new fast/casual breakfast spot in downtown Libertyville. The restaurant was pretty full with a line of folks ordering. We didn't have to wait long, though, before the friendly cashiers took orders order and answered questions about the menu (no cold brew or iced coffee on offer...yet). There are many breakfast sandwiches and bowls on the breakfast menu, some with an interesting twist like the Denver breakfast sandwich and the Benedict Bowl. I opted for the Benedict Bowl. The Slagel Farms egg was absolutely amazing, as was the chopped ham. I was disappointed that I received breakfast potatoes instead of the advertised English muffin croutons; I'm betting I received somebody's custom breakfast bowl and will try the dish again in the future. We also shared an order of the naughty/delicious Wicked Bacon. I finished things off with a cup of Metropolis Coffee; I appreciated the option to choose between dark roast, medium roast, and/or decaf. I really appreciate the quality and freshness of the ingredients; often, I steer clear of fast/casual breakfast places because the ingredients aren't as fresh or are too carb-heavy. The restaurant is on Milwaukee in downtown Libertyville just a few blocks from the Metra station. There's lots of street parking and nearby public lots, so you might have to walk a block or two if the spots immediately in front are taken. read more

I love supporting small family owned businesses. The owners and staff were so incredibly friendly and really proud of their business. The decor was spot on too. Basically their whole menu offers gluten free options whether it be in a bowl or on gluten free bread. They also have a variety of salads. I tried the Denver Bowl, had a green juice (very flavorful and not too green tasting-fruity), and a fruit bowl. All the food tasted great! Those wondering what the secret jam is; it's not jam like toast but rather a secret sauce that is flavorful. The only thing I would recommend if offering a small side of fruit or bread with the main dishes. I cant wait to come back and try their Avgolemono (egg lemon soup) and other brunch items. read more
Needed a quick, delicious breakfast spot and The Wicked Egg delivered! Sandwiches were made to order and came out hot and fresh. Also they use premium quality ingredients and don't skimp on the fixings. Only critique is that we didn't get a whole lot of flavor from the jam. They were good with the hot sauce and ketchup though! read more
The wicked egg was just what I needed this afternoon! The Benedict bowl was spectacular and the fresh squeezed orange juice was perfection. The restaurant has a good amount of seating, is very clean, and of course is egg themed. The service was also excellent (or should I eggcelent?). Food came out super quick and my server even offered to sub avocado for my meatless bowl. The bowl itself was so tasty and seasoned perfectly. I really enjoyed this space and I'll definitely need to be returning soon! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and so glad I finally did! This was a bomb breakfast sandwich, so much flavor and delicious ingredients. We have great service, and the food was ready super quick. Cute little shop with Plenty of seating inside, but there's also a great outdoor patio to dine on. Must try this spot if you're looking for a quick but delicious breakfast! read more

Decided to use my DoorDash credit to try this place. And got a Classic. The packaging was very neat, I love the presentation. The bread was very fluffy so it's easy to press down to eat. Bacon is candied so it's very delicious and not overpowering or greaser. Cheese was melty and soft and not chalky. Egg was also really good though it is pretty runny so much of the yolk got into the bottom of the bag. I would probably taking it out to eat on a plate next time. The sauce was on the sweeter side, and my husband thought it was lobster (lol!). The fresh greens were just OK. The heat probably made it taste less fresh but overall still a good selection of the greens and I like arugula. Pretty expensive overall for a sandwich this size but was very well made. read more

This was my 2nd time coming here for a bfast/brunch bowl. Portion sizing was good, I had some leftovers. Food could have a bit more seasoning for me. Also my bacon was way underdone so I literally had to fish all of it out of my bowl & cook it longer(really cook everything in the bowl through, except the potatoes). I'm not sure if I'll try them again. read more
