The Classic in a Bowl & All American on a Roll
    Brendon W.

My friend and I stopped by to get some grab and go breakfast before taking the train into Chicago. I have got to say the classic egg sandwich and the classic in a bowl egg breakfast was delicious and probably some of the best egg related breakfast I've ever had. The service was extremely quick and friendly and there is a lot of tables to sit inside and on the back patio of the location. Their menu is expansive as well with lots of other breakfast bowls and egg sandwich options I would want to try. If I'm ever back in libertyville I am definitely returning.

Well, this place was a PLEASANT SURPRISE! Love the tongue in cheek sign out front and the cheerful and bold decor inside. Service was exceptional. Got to sample some fresh squeezed juices when placing my order and OMG. TO DIE FOR. Ordered the simple bowl. Just scrambled eggs over cubed potatoes, with cheddar and avocado. Not sure it can get any better. You can tell the eggs are local and fresh! Coffee was good too. Glad I found this place and can't wait to go back! A+

Waking up with a hankering for french toast and eggs, I perused my handy dandy Uber Eats app and stumbled upon The Wicked Egg. The price point and options were exactly what I was looking for and it was close enough that I'd be eating by the time I finished up some quick work. I ordered the french toast sans powdered sugar, an over easy egg, and truffle salt potatoes. The food arrived quickly and was still warm, but as I started opening items I had a little concern with the potatoes being incredibly overcooked. I tried a potato and they tasted exactly how they looked... burnt. Mind you, this was my first time meeting TWE. But I figured I could save it by masking the burnt flavor with some cheese and sautéd onions so I put it in the oven to hold heat at a low temperature to avoid burning them further but keep everything warm. Welp, the cheese and onions couldn't mask the flavor of burnt so I just ate the sautéd onions with the egg. But as I ate the egg I found it was undercooked with quite a bit of white still raw. I should probably be more concerned about the whites being undercooked, but I continued to eat the egg regardless until I crunched into shell. That was enough of that. On the positive side, the french toast was exactly what I was looking for and cooked to the perfect temperature. It is a smaller portion, but that's exactly what I wanted. I wouldn't be opposed to the french toast again, but given the egg and potato debacles, I'm not really keen on eating there again. Part of me wants to give grace because mistakes happen because I could forgive the egg, but there is no way that anyone packaged those potatoes and said, "Ah, yes, perfect. Burnt, just like our customers like them." The lack of care of what they send out of the kitchen doesn't give me any confidence in the quality or safety of food handling so for me TWE is a no.

Stopped into Wicked Egg for a Saturday fast-casual breakfast treat. This shop is located in the heart of downtown Libertyville. The inside has a cheeky design featuring every type of colorful egg decor one can while still being tasteful. The menu offers a variety of egg inspired brunch items from sandwiches to potato bowls, salads, sandwiches, and classic items. My fiancé and I each got a sandwich. I got the Keep It Simple and added avocado. This standard comes on a brioche bun with scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, and their signature sauce. There was plenty of egg to go around but I wished there was more of their signature sauce in it to add more flavor. My fiancé got The Classic which came with an over medium egg, bacon, cheddar cheese, sauce, also on brioche bun. His had a ton of bacon and way less egg to pair with it. He also tried their Sriracha sauce which added a nice heat. Overall, everything here is made to order and fresh. My only complaint is some of the ingredient ratios seemed off. If balanced, some of the flavors would pop and pair better. We left feeling content but not full which was nice.

Mia was great for the recommendations, it's pricey but I will be back to try other things. It's a great little spot.

adorable place. very bright & very orange. the avocado toast was incredible! i loved all the cheese, seeds, seasonings.. rly tasty stuff. the staff were very friendly, too. excited to come back here. zero complaints. also loved learning about the farm they were partnered with. so it seems eggs taste much better when they come from happy chickens

I've wanted to try this place out for a while and finally had the opportunity, and I am so happy it lived up to my expectations! I'm kinda picky with how eggs are made, and their fluffy scrambled eggs really hit the spot! Their chorizo, wicked jam, and house-made hot sauce are all really flavorful and tasty. Their green juice, which is made fresh every morning and sealed in 12oz bottles is really delicious, definitely one of the best versions I've had. I really appreciate how they use pineapple and orange juice as the base instead of apple juice. The service here was amazing- everyone was so friendly and helpful, and they explained the menu when we mentioned it was our first time here. Even though no one else was eating in at 10am on a Tuesday, the door was constantly ringing with take out and delivery orders. They seem super popular, for good reason. Good quality of ingredients, fast preparation, and reasonably priced! I do highly recommend eating in if you have a chance, they have a great atmosphere! Upbeat music, silly puns on the walls, and right now lots of tasteful fall decor!

    The menu.

I've been meaning to check out The Wicked Egg, and it was the perfect late morning meal when you want good food without the fuss. I had the Classic on the brioche bun with an add on of Wicked Bacon. They did not skimp on the bacon! The bun held up nicely, not soggy and not burnt. Goldilocks would approve! My son got the Benedict bowl and it must've been great because he inhaled it and asked for a bite of my sandwich. We were offered a sample of the house made green juice -fresh, tasty, and a bright green, and the house made hot sauce was tasty but a little on the mild side for us. Overall, a great addition to Mainstreet. We will be back to try the burger and the burrito!

Really enjoyed the egg cheese sandwiches! Simple but good. The sausage egg sandwich had a sweet note to it so that was interesting...

What a fabulous breakfast stop in downtown Libertyville. I decided to try this place out as I wanted somewhere quick but not fast food. I ordered online which was super easy; there are so many substitution options available, all of which are also very easy online. My food was ready for pick up in 5 minutes. I ordered the Denver bowl and substituted the ham with bacon. The potatoes were thick cut southern style hash browns. The bacon was crispy, chopped, and a generous portion, the cheese was delicious, however the eggs seemed a little skimpy. You can add extra egg for $2 - but that feels like a steep up charge for a bowl that is already $12. All in all, it was a great bowl and it did feel like a decent sized bowl for the price, despite the amount of eggs. This is definitely a place that I'd go again to try something different.

The Classic on a Roll Caramel Brûlée Cold Brew

First off, the staff was very friendly! The place itself was beautifully decorated and clean. Our food came out quick and it tasted amazinggg, the staff was also attentive. We got the classic and the caramel cold brew, would definitely go back :)

First time here and the food was quite delicious. But the service was even better! Friendly, quick, and wanted to give us farm fresh eggs to take but we had a flight to catch. The gesture was very sweet and just shows the quality of this establishment and its staff. 10/10 would recommend.

The wicked egg is exactly the breakfast vibes you'd find in the city. This is hands down the best breakfast in the area! Service was fast and there are plenty of options to choose from. I ended up ordering a breakfast sandwich with turkey bacon and it was the tastiest breakfast sandwich I've ever had! Also got the salmon bagel and it did not disappoint. It was super fresh and had the perfect amount of cream cheese. The employees were very nice and gave me a sample of their green juice to try. You can really tell all the ingredients they use are fresh and everything is homemade - including their hot sauce! Their hot sauce is so good that I'm about to just buy a bottle up if they have it. Prices are a bit on the higher side but they give you what looks like 4 eggs in a sandwich so the portion sizes make it reasonable. This is definitely a must try in the Libertyville area!

This place, in the heart of the charming Libertyville downtown, is run by a Greek family of which the matriarch, a lovely person, runs a very tight ship. The place has a certain quirky charm, a cross between traditional diner and touch of formal dining room with the somewhat ungainly, but at the same time, interesting, large, brass chandeliers making their presence known in the dining spaces. There's also lots of effort put into decorative arrangements in what would seem to be valuable table space (with items I really wonder how many people really buy, including some items you might find in a local market, with a very interesting mix of items, and again, wondering how many people really come there for items you can easily find elsewhere, but ok). It seems if customers were sat at the "decoration" tables, and a table or two were added, they could reduce wait times, crowding, and maybe even prices a bit with the additional revenue. We waited about 20 minutes for a table on a Sunday morning with several parties, all long time customers judging by how they were greeted which was charming in its own right. Waiting is crowded in a narrow entry hallway. Tip: Don't stand around the register waiting for your table or you'll have to deal with the owner making rounds to check on customers. When seated we were given some time to make decisions before being approached by our server. An assistant server brought coffee. When we did order some of our party asked about options but were promptly informed there are no substitutions without an additional charge--OK. I ordered the two-egg breakfast with ham off the bone. When it came out there were four eggs on the plate. I let our server know there may have been a mistake as I ordered two eggs not four. She pointed out that they double their egg orders so if you ordered one egg you actually get two, etc.! Wow! Talk about leaning into customer orientation! The meals were delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Server attention was spot on--not too little, not too much, but just right. Then, the bill. Ok, with each plate nearing $20, breakfast will set you back a bit, which, I'm sorry, you have to question. The food was good but not $20 amazing in quality nor portion which is why this place will not be a regular but an on-the-radar back up every now and then. Nevertheless, overall, a positive experience.

When you pull up to the plaza you would think anything of the restaurant but when you go inside it's a fun colorful experience. When we were seated we were brought waters and menus. We took some time to look at the menus but ultimately took our server's suggestions on drinks. I ended up having a virgin Rose Colored Glasses drink and absolutely loved it. The drinks were large and I felt they were worth the price. My husband got an old fashioned. To start we got the cheese curds, and when I tell you these cheese curds still live rent free in my mind I kid you not. They were so good, the cheese was battered in a tempura batter with a truffle cream sauce and it made for such an incredible dish! For our entrees we got the pork chop with the brown butter sauces and bavette with a red wine reduction. The pork chop was great with the brown butter you just gotta make sure you mix it up, and the red wine was a bit too salty for me but it was okay because I ended up loving the steak by itself! For our sides we got the grilled zucchini under the snacks option instead of the sides option because I wanted all the fixings. It was a great choice! The fixings really made and I could eat a plate of that and just be happy (with the cheese curds of course). The wiped potatoes were great as well. Now I was going to pass on dessert because I was SO full already, but twist my arm when you tell me the cookie dough ice cream is a must try. It had real cookie dough chunks on top and bottle and the vanilla ice cream was not boring vanilla, I ate almost half of that bowl and couldn't stop. The chocolate chip cookie dough was house made and it was the perfect blend of sweet and salty that tied the whole ice cream bowl together. Can't recommend that enough as well. All in all, we had a great experience! It was so fun to see so many regulars and so many new folks who came in to dine at the same time as us and we all peeked to see who ordered what before we ordered and got some great recs as you can see! It was good but nothing to write home about. The chicken was well seasoned and plentiful and the dried cherries were a nice touch. Overall, I enjoyed it but won't be left thinking about it again. My mom got the smoked ham, brie, and pears sandwich and had similar thoughts. She enjoyed it but wasn't blown away. She did note that she wished it had some sort of honey mustard or a sauce other than mayo. The portion for this sandwich was huge and could easily be two meals.
