What a charming coffee shop! Since moving to the area my husband and I have been dying to try and support more local coffee shops and this was one that was at the top of our list. Upon entering, we were overwhelmed with the vast menu, the sweets tables and the endless pastries that were in front of us. We looked around a bit before we decided on our drinks. I've been back a few times and still gravitate towards their tuxedo latte. You also cannot go wrong with any of their pastries! We are a huge fan of their pies and decorated cookies. I got the gluten free Dutch apple muffin - and their muffins are HUGE. While some parts were dry, the apple filling and cream cheese helped a ton! I did not get sick, just very full. read more

There's also tables and shelves full of stuff all around the front. Then the menu is too extensive and hard to read. There was no seating available when we got there. There's a vast arrangement of baked goods, cookies, fudges, candies etc. It's just so busy! It feels like there is no serenity. I love Somethings Brewing! I've been here many times over the years, and I have enjoyed everything I've tried (which is most of the menu). Today I had the Tommy Club Sub, it was deliciously satisfying. Everything is excellent, but some of my favorites are: The Chyna Wrap, The French Melt Croissant, and The Loco Labretti. 1 star is incredibly undeserving. Avoid, they don't deserve your money. I have witnessed ants crawling in the bakery display, cookies and muffins are stale, food orders have been incorrect. I have tried to give them the benefit of doubt but consistently disappointed. She's shamed employees in front of customers and could use a class on customer relations. If you're wanting to go to Something's Brewing, it's a good choice--just not this store. The barista this morning (1/1/26, 10:30am) really lacked basic customer service. When I was retelling my experience to the friends who I'm visiting, BEFORE I EVEN FINISHED MY STORY she immediately named the same employee, so clearly this isn't a one-off. Eye rolls and muttering under her breath while correcting a dietary restriction is unacceptable. I simply asked for soy milk instead of whole milk, and the response was dismissive and rude ("yeah, whatever") rather than professional. Mistakes happen. Attitude doesn't need to. Especially when it comes to food restrictions and customer safety. Side note: Overheard conversation at the counter, the cashier asked a gentleman why she hasn't seen him in a while and he said he's "been going to the other store", I think we should all follow suit. read more

I absolutely love their food, their coffee, their service which is always excellent....but now half of their cookies are AI slop just printed on. Not against printed cookies, but using AI to make the images is honestly so disappointing for a business that has clearly talented people on staff hand icing the rest of their desserts. This shop is located in downtown Grayslake. I absolutely love the late hours! It's typically open until about 8:30pm! You really can't find coffee shops open that late. It's so nice to be able to sit down and enjoy a drink and a dessert pastry! They have a huge variety of pastries!! Super yummy muffins! My favorite drink is their Caramelicious Iced Latte!! It is super sweet and basically comparable to drinking a dessert beverage, but I am in love with it. It's the perfect sweet treat! They have a large variety of drinks. Something's Brewing is a local gem in Grayslake. With two locations, this location gives a college campus coffee shop feel. It offers a variety of pastries, sweets, breakfast options, and drinks. In comparison to the other location, this spot offers more space to sit and work or chat. I enjoyed my pastry and drink, and appreciated the help from one of the staff members when looking through their gifts section. Prices for drinks are relatively affordable, breakfast items range from $5-$13, and the pasties range in price. I look forward to going back and trying a breakfast item! Ps. If I could give zero stars I would! The customer service here (by the owner herself) is horrendous and I will never give her a dime of my money again. I was there today with family for lunch. All of a sudden my 2 year old niece had a small pill in her hand. A pill!! Thank goodness she didn't put it in her mouth. It must have been on her chair and we didn't see it when we sat down. I went to talk to the owner just to show her but she said that she was too busy with customers and I'd have to wait. She sent her employees to talk to me and they were horrified but she couldn't take the time to talk to me. Even after they showed it to her. Her level of customer service is just shameful. I have been frequenting this location for over 20 years. I've had bad customer service there in the past but keep going back. Never again. They have a great variety of fresh made GF treats, homemade caramels and chocolates, coffee, and great breakfast!! I loved their GF raspberry cookies and their GF cheesecake. Big menu, came at lunch ordered a Mediterranean sandwich on wheat toast. All fresh ingredients the cheese was paper thin and a lot of iceberg. Ordered cream of chicken was to salty and extremely thick. My sin had a buffalo chicken sandwich very salty and he ordered a cream of tomato siup that was good. They didn't offer the sides that came with it. Oh and they were out of wheat rolls, my son has been here for the third time and said so far they haven't any available.
