One of my favorite pizza places. This gem is located in Gurnee just off of Grand Ave at the end of a plaza. The deep dish cheese and sausage pizza is simply delicious and then you can add the hot honey sauce and that adds some additional intense flavor. Their house salad is with signature dressing is a big hit in our home as well. This is not a dine in location only pick up. The staff is friendly as well. Heard from lot of folks about one of the best places for Deep dish Chicago style pizza so reserved the place for a small event. Directions/location was easy. Good sized parking and was quite full but there were still good amount of spots left. We ordered cheese, pepperoni, sausage - three varieties of pizza, pasta with marinara sauce and Malnati's salad. They served around one slice of pizza for each person asking to choose from one at a time. Salad was the best. Pasta was ok and pizza was nice ! Maybe I had high expectations, it was fine but nothing that I loved it and would come back to Chicago to have it again. Tried this place based on a few decent reviews, but was really let down. There's no seating at all, so be prepared to wait outside or in your car. It took over 40 minutes just to get a small pizza, and when it finally came out, it tasted like something out of the freezer aisle -- definitely not fresh. I recently ordered Lou Malnati online for delivery. Let me say, they have the best customer service ever. Our pizza arrived with sauce and cheese that slid into the box, which was not appetizing. I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager, he assured me a new pizza would be sent. It was more about how the door dash driver transported the pizza. The second pizza arrived hot and fresh. Delivery, 12.23.23 Ordered via the Lous direct website for delivery. Large, butter-crust, well done, sausage and mushroom. The pizza was delivered, and it was leaking through the box. When I opened it, all of the toppings had slid off to one side. I contacted the restaurant and spoke with a very kind manager who explained that they are using Door Dash for deliveries because they're having trouble hiring drivers. Okay. He also offered to have the pizza remade and resent. I appreciated that. Unfortunately, the second pizza didn't come in much better shape, despite having a "handle with care" sticker on it. I didn't call and complain a second time because it's not going to make a difference, obviously. The manager did the right thing. Unfortunately, both pizzas came in poor condition and leaking through the boxes. Beyond that, there was something off about the flavor. It was very acidic, and not tomatoey, like, vinegary. I'm disappointed because I love Lous. I grew up on lous. We moved to this area earlier this year and this is the first time we've ordered lous, and I had a serious taste for it. I can't say that I trust ordering from this location unless I'm picking it up. Thanks for trying to the manager, I know they're navigating how to handle a driver shortage. Would not recommend. Had deep dish half spinach, half sausage on 8/21. Sausage tasted funny, seemed undercooked. By 5am next morning I was sick as a dog. My wife was fine. She ate the spinach side only. I am in the food industry so I tried to contact Lou Malnatis via their email contact site. Twice. No response outside of their "Thank you for contacting us, we be responding asap" I didn't ask for anything, I just wanted to let them know they had bad sausage. NO RESPONSE AT ALL!. Now that's poor service and dangerous. So at this point, I would never go back or recommend them. BTW, I spoke to some who ate there the same day, had sausage and got sick. Lou malanatis is boss. For me as a native Chicagoan, there's nothing left for me to say on that. This particular location has great service, fast and efficient, just how it should be. Unfortunately, I can't really speak on ambiance because we called in order for delivery so there's that. I can honestly say that I've never had bad service here and the pizza is always consistent, it's delicious. My typical order consist of The Lou with some added sausage and it's just so darn good! Whether through delivery, dine in or pick up, it's so yummy! Cheese is melty, the tomatoes, onions and garlic are robust, the sausage is spicy but not too spicy and spread out amongst the entire pie and well, the buttered crust...that's just a slice of heaven and this is coming from a girl whose not a big crust fan. If you know, you know. Overall, this place is great and whether you're a local or not, I highly suggest coming to Lou Malnatis and trying out their pizza. When they first opened in Gurnee, they were amazing. I'd frequently order pizzas and wings. Recently, it seems they've gone downhill. They don't mark the boxes of gluten free pizzas as GF anymore making it hard to differentiate at times, their pizzas are soggy, and their "manager" Jacob is like a deer in headlights anytime there's an issue. I've had an issue with my last four or five orders--from getting a pizza where all the sauce and cheese was on one side and dripping out of the box to continuously giving me the incorrect salad. I'm wondering if they recently changed their gluten free distributors because both their thin and deep dish GF are disgusting, soggy and leave an aftertaste now.
