The Glen Ellyn location has been recently renovated, bringing it up to date with a contemporary look, more dining space, and a brighter interior. The stuffed pizza remains top notch. I'm partial to the spinach and cheese, though the sausage is good as well. The tomato sauce is some of the best out there, with bright, bold flavor. The pastry crust is chewy on the inside, crisp on the outside. It's knife and fork pizza at its best. Service has always been at least good, typically above average. They did lose several of the servers who has been there prior to the remodeling, so post-remodeling the service had the occasional hitch. Sometimes they can be a bit too quick in clearing dishes. It's a great place for families as well, with many large booths that make corralling the kids easier. Bathroom and dining room are clean. read more

Salt, Salt, SALT! If your salt container is missing, look no further--it's probably here! Too much In the sauce. Too much in the cheese. Too much in the super-greasy appetizers. Oye vey! They used to be a favorite, but have changed in recent years--and definitely for the worse. Giordano's recently opened a location in Carol Stream. I've been a fan of Giordano's for the past 15 years and always wished they had a location close to my home. I ordered a thin crust pizza and a Caesar salad. First of all, I was shocked that they don't make a thin crust pizza larger than 16" (this is barely enough to feed my family of four) and they want $19.50 for a plain 16" cheese pizza! We typically purchase an 18" pizza with sausage, green pepper, onion & black olive and pay less than $20.00. We can't even get an 18" pizza from Giordano's but a 16" with the same ingredients would cost us $29.50. The girl who took our order over the phone was an idiot and had to put me on hold twice. When we arrived to pick up our order the same idiot charged us for the Caesar salad even though we had a coupon and it was supposed to be free. What was really funny was that the kitchen help clearly doesn't know how to cut a pizza. Some of our pieces were 2" X 3" and others were 3" x 6". We had to re-cut the entire pizza. I enjoyed the pizza (and the salad) but I can't say we will order from them on a regular basis. I can get pizza just as good elsewhere at a far better price. read more

Worst service EVER. If I could give a negative rating I would! We should have known from the minute the waitress greeted us, that it was not going to go well. We had a large party, but called a few days ahead to let them know, and to be sure they could accommodate, which they agreed to. One of the waitress was extremely rude to us right out of the gate, and it only got worse throughout the night. It took them 20 minutes to get our drink orders and then never gave us menus. It took another 30-45 minutes to put our meal orders in. Our food took about an hour to receive , which we knew due to ordering the deep dish style pizzas. The food was okay at best. Would definitely recommend the other better known pizza places around Chicago. Once we finished our meals, we waited another 45 minutes for our checks. To make the terrible experience even worse...most of the checks were incorrect. We then had to wait another 30 minutes while the staff yelled at each other, and were again rude to us, while trying to figure out their errors. Completely unprofessional. They are lucky we did not all walk out on the bill, as we would have been completely justified in doing so at that point. I would have fired the one waitress on the spot if I were the manager, due to her behavior toward her coworkers and the customers. Awful! The manager of this establishment should be embarrassed. Love the food. Being a NY'er I can't call deep dish....pizza. However, I believe their Italian Pot Pie to be delicious. The ingredients are fresh and plentiful. For those not familiar, the pot pie is filling. So I haven't tried much else on the menu. Friendly service and delivery to my hotel is appreciated. Love the deep dish spinach! Can't get enough. However, the Manager has put a big damper on the customer service. He's rude, unapproachable, and just doesn't care about the customer's experience. He has no interest in making things right if you have an issue or concern. If the pizza weren't so dang good, this place would be shut down. Who can possibly eat this garbage? Ordered a 16" sausage, 1/2 mushroom. Under-toasted, Wonder bread-like crust, with heaps of flavorless mozzarella cheese. I have heard positive comments about Giordano's Pizza over the years. Incredible! Ruined my dinner, tossed it in the trash after managing to get through two slices. Ditto 10-11 years ago, when starving, ordered their "famous" stuffed pizza. It went in the trash after 3/4s of a slice. I thought it may have just been a bad night. First time yelper. Frustrated by Glen Ellyn Giordano's. Saw Jeff's review and decided to commiserate with him. Witnessed the game played by mgr. I ordered stuffed pizza at 6:00. Was told 40 mins. Arrived 6:45. Not ready. 15 minutes later, I asked how much longer. Nobody could verify a time. I witnessed someone in back, older gent with wire-rimmed glasses, making a medium sized stuff pizza w/ spinach. Could it be mine? Finally received pizza @ 8:00. Guess he WAS making mine. Many upset patrons, both dine- in and carry out. Mgr., whose name was Taki, seemed to have a take it or leave it attitude. I saw a party named James, 3 pizzas, probably $80 worth, try to talk to him. He came over, looked at their order ticket, verified what they received, and patronized them with the line " Your order is correct!" The look on Mrs. James face was sad to see the day after Christmas. When I asked for a business card, or number of the owner, Taki offered me the pamphlet with franchisee info. When I explained to him I wished the owner's number to lodge a complaint, he again offered me the pamphlet. Funny guy, no? The way he treated his staff in public was also a joke. Someone needs to straighten this "manager" out on restaurant management. It was my wife's idea to order from this restaurant. I definitely never would again. That's the only silver lining in this whole debacle. Taki....you should be ashamed of yourself for not supporting your staff and for treating customers like garbage. Mr./Ms. Owner...20% drop in net sales next 2 months...you'll know where to look. read more

The deep dish pizza is very good. It's all I ever order for take out. On my last visit I witnessed the owner rudely reprimanding some employees. It may have been warranted, but do it in the kitchen or somewhere where the customers aren't exposed to it. It's very unprofessional. I tried to give this location another chance, but again it fell flat. We used to order from this location all of the time but the last few times we ordered deep dish the dough was not fully cooked. We tried again tonight and they messed up our order. Instead of one deep dish and one thin crust we got two thin crust pizzas. I then called and was passed off to the manager who was rude and does not know what customer service is. He made some snippy comment about how it's "too late for our dinner now." He had an attitude from the start and simply said "well you weren't charged for the deep dish." I wanted what I ordered I don't care if I wasn't charged that wasn't the point. I expected him to do more for us, but instead he had a bad attitude and didn't offer to remake it because it was "too late." He did offer us money off on our next order but why would I want to order again from a man with such a bad attitude. The Oakbrook Location is much better and nicer. We really like Giordano's in Glen Ellyn. The staff there is very attentive and the atmosphere is a good fit for us and our three kids. The pizza is very good - not overloaded with sauce and it's not too greasy. We never have a long wait for our food and the drinks come right away, as do the appetizers. It's one of the few places we can eat comfortably with small kids. read more

Fantastic managers/owners/serving staff! Arranged for a group on a Saturday and Pete, Nick, Curt (Kurt?) could not have been more helpful. Pre-arranged for pizzas and they were ready when our group arrived. We were on a tight time frame, and they couldn't have been more accomodating. I visited Giordano's Glen Ellyn tonight with my family which included my 3 sons. We have only been to Giordano's a couple times previously and have always enjoyed it so we returned tonight. At the time of placing our order our server was very rude about menu selctions and seemed disturbed by any questions we had. I should have known then that something was not right at this restaurant. Our service became extremely slow and lacking in common courtesy. Our server seemed genuinely inconvienienced and unhappy that she had to serve us. The pizza came and the taste was excellent. This was the only enjoyable part of the experience. When we were ready to leave we notified the server that we had a restaurant.com certificate. We were advised to use it as we paid our bill in the front of the restaurant. As I paid the bill I thought the final balance due was a little high after our certificate was applied to the bill. We were advised that the restaurant added the server gratuity on our party of 5. No problem with any of that except I had already left a gratuity on the table and there was no indication of this policy on our certificate or at the restaurant. As we clarified the issue without the slightest concern other than clarification I was approached by the owner in a very hostile and adversarial manner. He was rude and irrate with me in front of my family. He made a scene about how our certificate stated gratuity was to be added by the restaurant even though it clearly did not state that. We had no issue with this and I was totally confused about his attacking me about this. I have absolutely no issue with the restaurant charging the gratuity or not. I have a major issue with the owner aproaching me in a hostile and adversarial manner and treating me in a rude and crass manner in front of my family for really no reason other than he must have been having a bad day. There are only probably 250 pizza places within 5 miles of my house. I don't need to go to Giordano's and I promise I will not ever go back after the treatment I received from the owner. If you have a bad day keep it to yourself. If you are not sure what is happening with the cashier and a customer then ask or stay out of it. Even though I was disapointed in our server the funny thing is I gave her a larger gratuity on the table than she received by charging the gratuity on the bill. I would have gone back and left her a couple dollars more if the owner had not acted so unprofessional to me and my family. This is not the place to go if you have a family with you, or if you want to be treated with respect and kindness. As I look at the previous online reviews I see that this is a pattern of behavior at this location. We WILL NOT RETURN toi this restaurant. read more

I genuinely like, and have been a good customer to Giordano's but I have to give this location ZERO stars due to their porous customer service. I had ordered a pizza to be delivered for my daughter's 1st birthday; however after 90 minutes I called to check on the order and found out they put pick up instead of delivery. I told them this was holding up our celebration and asked for a discount. After back and forth they offered to deliver the pizza at a 20% discount. I said this is unacceptable and they came back and said they will refund it and deliver the pizza anyway. 30 minutes later I called to see where the pizza was (again) they told me they cancelled the order. I will not be a customer of the Glen Ellyn Giordano's, where customer and service are two separate ideas, not their mantra. read more

My girlfriend and I love this place. The pizza is amazing, and the prices are great too. My only complaint is a waitress we had recently who was very inattentive, and rarely checked on our table. We missed our movie we were planning on going to after dinner and the waitress was nowhere to be seen. As long as you don't get the tall thin girl with brown hair you'll be fine. read more

This place was horrible. Don't bother ordering online hours ahead of time. It won't matter. We ordered two pizzas at 4:30 to be delivered at 7:00. It was during the Final Four. Now you would think that a pizza place would be aware that it will be busy, especially when Easter is the next day. At 7:15 I called to see where our pizzas were. The girl answering the phone said that delivery was running 1-1 1/2 hrs. I told her I ordered it at 4:30. The manager came on the phone and didn't know where my order was. He would check and call me back. At 7:25 I received a call from a young man who told me the driver was leaving immediately with our delivery. At 7:45 we received two barely warm pizzas that were dried out as if they had been sitting around under a heat lamp for an hour. The food was edible, but for $60.00 including a 20% tip, it was definitely not worth it. We will NEVER order from Giordano's Glen Ellyn again! No wonder this place is in trouble. AWFUL SERVICE!! If I could give this restaurant (Glen Ellyn) a -5 stars I would. I called tonite at 4:30pm to order pizza for delivery at 6:30pm. At 6:37pm no pizza. I call the restaurant and they immediately put me on hold and sent me to the manager, Taki, who was completely rude and said he was busy so my order would be late. I already knew that since it was already 10 minutes past my delivery time. I asked him where the driver was and he said the driver didn't answer the phone but he was on his way. He then said the pizza would be to my house in 10 minutes. 7:00pm I call back...no pizza. He said the driver had another delivery and was on his way to deliver my pizza. He originally didn't want to do anything but I said I refused to pay for the food. He said that he would credit my card and comp my pizza...but charge is still there....and he HUNG UP on me....pizza finally showed up at 7:10pm. And pizza was cold and soggy. Awful customer service. For such a great place they need to invest in better staff members that show some compassion and empathy for their paying customers. read more

Delivery sucks. Ordered a greek deep dish and it comes with tzatziki sauce. the driver forgot tzatziki sauce and I even put it on the comments of the order. I called back and told the manager what happened. he said he would send it. I called back again because i realized my pizza was going to get cold and I didnt just pay $40 for a cold pizza and no sauce. Plus in the first call the manager didnt offer $10 or anything so I was mad because he only did that once I said something. In the second call, I told the manager I wanted a full refund and he only wanted to give me $10 off and if i wanted a full refund they would come take the pizza. He said if its just because of the sauce then $10 thats what they originally do. After going back and forth and him saying no he finally gave up and said he would do the full refund. They shouldnt be used to people forgetting whats in your order. Oh, then the driver never even showed up with the sauce and I live like 5 mins away from the location. I have been to many Giordano's restaurants and at every single one I have received not only quality food, but very good customer service. Customer service, in my opinion, is what runs a business. This is why I am wondering how the Giordano's on Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn is still running.  After having waited the normal wait time for a deep dish pizza (40ish minutes), we finally got it. It looked fine until we were served. As soon as a slice was taken out, the whole pizza fell apart. Cheese was spilling out like watery discharge and the crust had separated so the raw dough could be seen. In fact, it was so apparent that something wasn't right about it that even the waiters and our own waitress were looking at it in disgust.  I am not writing this to critique the food, as this was a cooking error made by humans. This could have easily been fixed. My problem lies with the management and how this issue was resolved, or not.  After I had told the waitress, she took it inside and soon afterwards the manager came to our table. Usually at this point, one would expect an apology from the manager and some sort of compensation. Not at this place though. He looked at us with a derogatory attitude. This man made it seem like it was our fault and we were wasting his time. He told us that it was a cheese pizza and it is supposed to fall apart like that. I told him that I had to wait more than 40 min. for pizza and waiting another 40 min. was not possible. He angrily replied with an, "Ok, leave it, check is on us." Then he walked away. The waitress came back with a check and apologized, and said the manager would take care of it. I looked at the check and the manager was charging us for the appetizer (Keep in mind that this added up to $8 and some change). I took out my tip and handed it to the waitress and walked to the cashier to speak with the manager. I told him that he said that the check was on him, and he said, "I said the pizza is on us". I restated that our time was wasted and we didn't even get dinner, he rudely said, "Good night" while pointing to the door, I said thank you and tried to shake his hand, yet he pulled his hand back, his face red, and still pointing to the door made it clear that he wanted us out. As we walked to the door,he loudly and arrogantly says, "you probably didn't even tip the girl!", what kind of insolent adult man says something like that? One of the staff members who clearly heard everything was sweeping by the door, apologized for the pizza- something the manager never did, and the manager walked past us and scoffed. I feel so sorry for the staff who works under this unprofessional, joke of a manager. There have been other reports of people being maltreated by this man, yet I do not understand why he is still employed there.  My problem is not with Giordano's, the waitress, or even the pizza that is not even at fault.  My problem is with the man who thinks he is Arnold Schwarzenegger, yet fails to live up to even the slightest version of him. This man walks around arrogantly to give off the impression that he is the owner. And for him to point at the door, after he is the one who messed up is unheard of in my book.  From a business perspective, this was a bad move because I would be more willing to pay for the appetizer and salad had he been kinder and truly sorry about the mistake.  All I ask you is to really consider where you want to put your money and whether you want to support a place that employs such tyrannical bigots who oppress not only the workers, but also their customers. read more

The decorations both inside and out were low quality and unclean. The decor inside was enough to make me nauseaus, it was lots of squiggly lines all over the tables and ceilings. Our waitress was ok, nothing special, definitely did not improve the overall dining experience. The pizza we ordered was a large cheese deep dish with hot giardenera on all of it and half with pineapple as well. Very tasty, pizza seemed great. Only problem was those who ate it with their hands vs. forks and knives found the crust slightly doughy. Am I splitting hairs? Maybe. It was not however up to other Giordano's quality. read more

Went there with my wife yesterday evening. We each had dinner salads. Mine was a chopped salad that was excellent. Very fresh! My wife enjoyed her caesar salad as well. I only order for pickup so I cannot comment on the service or atmosphere, but it looks like a nice pizza parlor with some televisions. My large family and I dined there on 3/12/11, and had a wonderful time. I love the atmosphere!. The service was fabulous, they couldn't do enough for us. Oh, and pizzas, stuffed and thin, were fabulous. The appetizer combo was sooo big and delicious! Everybody was soo nice and the food was so warm and perfect!
