So we sat up at the Botanical Garden which was beautiful. We went for the Pok Pok Chicken Wings and Sweet Potato Fries as our starters. Delicious. The fries came with a Red Curry Aioli side dip which worked great with them (and the chicken wings too lol). The chicken wings were great too! They were filled with a lot of flavour and served with a ranch dip. Although it went well with the ranch dip, we both preferred the curry dip with the wings. The green curry is already spicy having 3 chilies next to it on the menu, but when the server asked if I would like it even spicer I said why not and absolutely regret nothing. The curry was packed with flavour too and perfectly spiced. The only small downfall was I almost forgot I was eating a chicken curry and not a vegetable curry. There were about 3 tiny little pieces of chicken in there. So my little advice for Opium would be to add a bit more chicken please The Tropical Tuk Tuk y'allll! And I know you're eyeing that lovely tropical-looking drink in the tall glass but nope that isn't it. The clear one in that little cup was a delightful surprise. I think I may have visibly frowned when the server brought over this drink because she had to quickly explain that despite the appearance it was really nice and she was right! If you're into coconut & tropical flavoured drinks, this is for you! Nothing about this was overpowering and the flavours complemented each other perfectly. The chocolate brownie was nice too. I do enjoy nuts in my food but for this brownie, it just wasn't doing anything for either of us. But we simply pushed them to the side and continued enjoying our dessert. Would I return? I thought the service staff were very nice, however, I think this is an instance where some additional training maybe useful. The servers were coming by and chatting/living food/taking orders very informally from over the back of the booth rather than the front of the booth. This meant that whenever food came, they had to hand it to one of us in order to put on the table because they were not willing to simply walk around the booth through the aisle where they would have the flexibility to. Reach across the table and pick up things or put things down. It wasn't a big deal except that this is a more formal restaurant and I felt that the level of service we received was more of that from a diner or a burger joint rather than a nice restaurant. Additionally, the surface staff did not come by very frequently to ask if we needed additional items, or to refill, water, etc. Add to that that I thought the food was mediocre, it was Asian, but was not very "Thai" in terms of the flavors. Nobody at our table really raved about the quality of the food. Overall, it was a good attempt, but I genuinely think that this restaurant needs to tighten things up a bit. I saw the good reviews for Koh on Yelp, so I decided to visit for some drinks, and dinner. The restaurant was busy when I arrived, so my friend and I had to sit in the bar area. There are smaller tables, and chairs, but it was still pretty comfortable. To start my evening, I got the Hugo drink. It's made with prosecco, and St. Germain. It was really tasty and refreshing. My friend got the Old Fashioned No.2 and really liked it as well. For a meal I got the Chicken Pad Thai. It was very delicious, and filled me right up. One of the better Pad Thai's I've had. My friend got the Chicken Chilli & Holy Basil and really enjoyed it. It was very spicy, and just how she likes it. Koh was one of the better restaurants I visited in Dublin. The whole vibe was great, and more importantly, the food was excellent.

Drinks: The sake menu is extensive. We tried quite a few and loved all of them. We had come for lunch, but if I am ever back in Dublin then I will definitely come back during happy hour.

You order at the counter and they bring your food over to your table. It looked to me like they can seat 40 people or so. The interior is a pleasant mix of brick and paneling with some very cool artwork on the walls, like an image of someone walking holding a giant pole on their shoulders with a big basket on each side. I also saw a big mural of a guy with a toothy grin smiling at the dining room. The menu is pretty big and pretty reasonable -eleven appetizers at no more than six and a half Euros, if you don't count the Selection Box for Two (€12). They also offer three soups, three salads, five curries, seven noodle dishes, seven stir fries, five fried rice dishes, four House Specialties, ten sides, and even a children's menu of four things like peanut noodles and sweet and sour chicken. You can also buy their dipping sauces by the bottle. We started off by splitting an appetizer of Phukett Tiger Prawns (€6.50 for 4 pieces) which we really enjoyed. It was a shrimp stuffed with diced chicken and ginger, wrapped in a pastry and served with a sweet chili dipping sauce. Simple and delicious! Our entrees were 1) Pad Thai served with chicken and shrimp instead of the usual one or the other. It ran (€12) and was delicious, and 2) Pad King Beef (also €12). The Pad King was a delicious stir fry of ginger, mushrooms, bok choy, scallions, and of course plenty of tender beef slices served with a bowl of rice. It was wonderful. Our food for two cost just €30.50, or about $37 -not bad for a big city dinner.

My other colleague ordered the pasta special of the day and wasn't necessarily thrilled with it, but maybe she just ordered the wrong thing? Ambiance was impeccable, a pure 10/10. The area has a ton of natural light and is super inviting. The decor is sophisticated and really adds to the overall 5 star feel. The location was super convenient for us. We were staying at the Clayton Hotel so we were just steps away. The restaurant is also conveniently located near a bus stop in case you are looking to visit and need public transport. If there's a loud group dining, the venue is so small that you will struggle to hear your friends, or even your own thoughts! Midweek isn't too bad as it's generally couples or groups of 4, but late evening if there's a tipsy table, you might have to get your food to take away unfortunately. Second thing, and what I think is most important, the new waitress is extremely rude and not very professional or prompt. She left a number of people in for take away waiting as she attended to a table of 6 quite loud and wine fuelled people. (I was sitting in, so she acknowledged my existence luckily for me). Secondly, she was very poor with service in general and when I asked for the bill, she plonked it on the table and scurried away with a 'bye' over her shoulder. When I went up to pay, she realised she wasn't going to get the 5 Euro she deludedly expected, actually said "oh!" and was very short, making faces and was clearly peeved that her plan to get a significant tip didn't work (my meal was just over 15 quid so she really was deluded to expect such a significant tip for taking my order, ignoring me and then walking the 4 steps from the kitchen to my table with a nasty attitude). There was no pleasantries and she was very rude and unprofessional. I dropped 2 Euro into the tip jar as the meal had been great and had been delivered promptly (though the only other sit in table was the group of 6 who already had their food). Clearly this wasn't good enough a tip for this waitress. I left embarrassed and annoyed which isn't ideal when you've paid the guts of 20 Euro for meal and service and you're left feeling like you did something wrong for not allowing someone take advantage of you. Will order take away in future, won't be returning to the restaurant given the conduct of the young woman who served me. Not good for business, and I think she needs to be reminded that (all) customers should be treated with respect, whether ordering take away or dining in, and not made feel like a hindrance.

While I waited I noticed a bag full of food on the table next to me. I figured that could be my food left out. When she finally finished on the phone she asked what I wanted. I explained. She took my money and gestured to the bag on the table. I left with the food feeling a little bit apprehensive about my purchase. The food was crap to put it bluntly. The crispy batter vegetables and calamari were soggy and tasted like it had been microwaved. The spring rolls tasted like the frozen ones you can get in tesco. The satay skewers were way too chewy. The satay sauce looked diarrhea. It tasted like peanut butter from lidl cut with oil. The sweet chilli sauce was just kind of like sugar syrup with red stuff floating in it. For my main meal I ordered duck. It was chewy and bland like chicken left under a hot lamp. The "crispy noodles" were like oily Styrofoam. My girlfriend got the Pad Khing with tofu. It was just a mess of tasteless vegetables and oily tofu. It was a tasteless MSG soup of crap. The rice was definitely reheated. The noodles were oily and had a weird taste to them. There was nothing really good in the entire meal. Avoid this place as if it were John Waters. If you like thai food then order from somewhere else like Camille Thai or Kanoodle. They do much better food for about the same price.
