Food was ok. Service was subpar. Ordered agadashi tofu. Came with no sauce. Asked four times and it never showed up. I didn't eat any. At end of meal still no sauce and asked to have it removed from bill but the server said the kitchen refused because my reason wasn't valid enough. I didn't eat any because it was incomplete and despite numerous requests remained so the entire time. I'm not sure what other reason I could have come up with. Me and my boyfriend stopped by here because I was craving sushi. We're from the city towards DC area. We desperately came here because there were very few selections for japanese restaurants towards western Maryland and the reviews on yelp were pretty good. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and here is my opinion Pros: The tempura items were delicious. They were deep fried to perfection and the dipping sauce was greatly flavored. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of the tempura itself Cons: I don't want to be too negative about the food, but I will say that their teriyaki sauce... It didn't taste right...idk but I do know that I got sick the next day after. The maki rolls weren't very great either but it was edible. The rice, it was like home cooked rice. You know when you cook right from a pot and you have the clumped up rice on the bottom that sticks to the pot? Yeah, that's how the rice was. My bf got the korean dish and that was ok. I'm just being honest with my review so that future travelers will know what to expect. Now if the question is if I'd come back here... It'd be a no. Overall, the food was ok, but not satisfying. My favorite hometown restaurant! Every time I come to visit family I make sure that I include a stop at Ginger's. My favorite meal is the spicy chicken teriyaki bento box which comes with the chicken filet, rice, house salad, california rolls, and your choice of spring rolls or vegetable tempura. There aren't many restaurants in Cumberland, let alone options for Japanese. Not very conveniently located on National Highway on the north side of town. They have the usual selection of asian beers in stock. Reasonably priced, and average quality food. Nothing to write home about, but as good as you'll get in Cumberland. read more

For the most part, the food here is great. We usually split a bento box because it's a good amount of food, and you get a little bit of everything. My only complaint, and the reason for four stars instead of five, is that everything is sticky. The floors, table tops, chair backs...you name it, you stick to it. read more

Ginger's Asian Kitchen is one of my favorite places to eat ever. In my mind it is the best Asian place in Maryland to eat. Ginger's is a great mix of Japanese and Korean food. You'll find awesome teriyaki, spicy teriyaki, korean short ribs, and of course beef bulgogi! The bento boxes are a great value, but everything is good and relatively cheap. This is definitely the best place to eat in Western MD. The only down side is sometimes the service is a little weak, but the food definitely makes up for it! read more

I had my food delivered to a local hotel during a recent stay in the area, and was quite disappointed. There were no napkins in the bag, the potstickers came fried rather than steamed, as ordered, and were mediocre at best. The edamame was overdone and came without soy sauce. I fared better with the chicken teriyaki bento box and tempura, which was OK, and the kimchi, which was very good. There are other local restaurants (mainly take-out) that have similar menu options at a lower cost, but I guess you pay a little extra for the dine-in experience-- (though they also do carry-out). With the past few times I have been here, the food has been consistently good, but the service has varied. However, this could have been due to an isolated staff shortage. I don't want to send the message that the other food here isn't memorable, but I must say, the house sesame dressing is awesome! read more

stayed in cumberland md this weekend and read a review from a former service member that was stationed in japan for a dish named yakisoba. i loved this dish when i was in japan and could not wait to have it. i read other reviews all said food was good but service was sub par. how correct they were. i must complaint the cooks. even though this was not original yaki, it had a good flavor and easy to eat with my chopsticks. my wife loved hers as well as the sushi she ordered. now to the waitstaff. had she been able to not talk to her friends in the both she might have had a chance to give me my wasabi on the side that i paid for. also, when one orders salad, it is not just lettuce, with at least two tomatoes, and we had no choice in what type of salad dressing we could have. we got watered down thousand island dressing. no joke. pay attention to the little things please and find someone who wants to be there and do their job!!! read more
