I chose Gil's to paint a couple replacement trim pieces for an older car of mine, and I'm having a hard time articulating just how disappointed I am with every aspect of the experience. Kevin - or whatever his name is - was dismissive and brusque, which I hoped was the hallmark of a guy so good at what he does that courtesy had become an afterthought. Well, I was wrong. Although he quoted me "a week or two," it ended up taking the better part of a month. Every time I called, I got some runaround about how "we don't bother Kevin in the booth" like he was some kind of savant. Apparently he couldn't match the paint without the intervention of their "paint rep," which begs the question how they get anything painted at all. When I did finally get the call, I was irritated to find that he had also painted the piece of trim I'd supplied as a reference, which sort of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? On top of that, there are runs, sags, and s**t in the paint...like, did you spray this on the ground outside with one hand over your eyes? I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the results when I recall seeing a gallon jug of cheap vodka on the floor behind the counter when I picked up the parts. There's a bit from Calvin and Hobbes where he's supposed to be shoveling snow or something, and is deliberately making a hash of it. He explains to Hobbes that "I find if you do a job poorly enough the first time, you often don't get asked to do it again." So, I didn't ask again. I am sorry to have trusted that jerk with parts of a car that's very special to me, and I intend to find a friendlier, more competent shop to fix his lousy work. read more

Kevin and Carol are fantastic, hail damage on both of my cars, they fixed both, they both look new again, highly recommend them for anything , very happy , very friendly and knowledgeable read more

I agree with all the 1 star ratings here. They are INCREDIBLY rude. I showed up for a quote and the guy was rude beyond understanding. I was excited about my new vehicle that had some damage on it and went here as my boss said he's enjoyed them. He walked out to the car and simply said , 'I'm not interested in your car' then walked away murmuring some other things... I thought maybe he was just having a bad day, but seeing these reviews tell me this is just the norm. I guess good for him that they are busy enough to be jerks to people, and I get saying no to business you don't want, but to be a jerk about it is crazy. From the time I showed up to the time I drove add was roughly 45 seconds. Spend the extra 5 seconds to be polite about not being interested... read more

Needed a tire repaired (nail in the tread). AAA came out and put the spare on for me. The other big name stores said they would fix the tire but we're so busy I would need to leave my car overnight. Called Gil's and he said "just leave the tire - don't need your car!" He had it fixed that afternoon, with no inconvenience to me. When it was done, he put the tire back on. Straightforward, no nonsense. That's Mr. Kevin Pelkey and his team. I hope I won't need him again, but if so, Gil's Northwood Collision is where I'll go. read more

Brought what looked like a totaled vehicle at first to Kevin and carol there team had my car done in a matter of weeks it also looked better then before I even bought it I'd highly recommend Gil's north wood to any one needing inexpensive reliable quality work done to there vehicle read more

IF YOU VALUE YOUR CAR, DO NOT TAKE IT HERE!! Kevin & Carol believe they can treat people and their belongings with very little respect. Heres just a few examples of how they conduct their business: -I was given numberous deadlines on when my vehicle would be repaired, all of which were not kept. -un-met deadlines were not communicated, causing me $1000's of dollars in lost wages and car rental fees. -paint was donewithout the car on site causing a mismatch in paint color by several shades -texture in the paint finish -paint bubbles -scuffs in the BRAND NEW BUMPER -buff scratches in the hood (where there wasnt even damage) -when confronted about these errors I was met with hostility and profanity until they simply began to hang up on me any time I called. -had to withdraw my claim from them and have it towed to another location to have the both have the original damages fixed as well as inspect for additional poor workmanship that had been completed by Gil's From the get go I had my money, time, and value as a customer wasted and the place that I took it to after noted that they have never seen such poor workmanship on a car. Gil's had my car for weeks and they new place had it for 2 DAYS!!!! read more

Unfortunately I have had to get my cars repaired here 3 times due to accidents. Fortunately I found Gil's. I can not say enough good things about this place. It is a Family run business. They are the nicest people ever. They fixed al my vehicles in a timely and professional manner. Have never had one issue. They take care of everything for you. I definitely recommend this place read more

I've never been treated so poorly by anyone in my life. To give some background: my family has been bringing cars to Kevin for years now. My grandfather has dumped tens of thousands of dollars into this place for their services. I rewceny brought my car there to have some tests run. I asked my stepdad to talk with Kevin because honestly, I know very little about cars. My stepdad was informed that it would be $313. I never received a quote. Never was told what was wrong with my car. My stepdad politely asked if I had consented tk work being done because I very well may have signed a consent form without knowing it. Kevin's response to my stepdads questions was "come get your f***ing car and never come back here." So the moral of the story is that Kevin doesn't want any questions asked about ho work and if you do ask questions, I you seem a all knowledgeable, he's going to swear at you. My only concern is that he has someone sabotaged the car. Far fetched? Maybe. But after more than 10 years of comig to him, I thought it would have been far fetched that we would have been treated so poorly. I cannot give lower than a 1 star rating but this place, that man, is unprofessional and will gouge prices like none other. Ridiculous. Don't worry, we won't be back. read more

I've used this shop for body work on 2 different vehicles. I can't say enough about the top notch quality service that I received. The repairs are flawless and the customer service was phenomenal. This is a family run business and they are personable and kind. 2 thumbs up ! read more

Excellent work, great people. I got 6 quotes for repairs to my A6. They were not the lowest, but pretty close. Still I felt they were the ones who would do the best job. They definitely exceed my expectations, even fixing a couple things I didn't ask them to do. I would highly recommend Gil's. read more

Great company to deal with. Everyone was very courteous. Had a new rear bumper put on a 2013 Accord. The paint job was a perfect match. All work completed as promised and on schedule. read more

I went to Gil's as a recommendation from a friend. The dealership's shop quoted me $2500. I went to Gil's and Kevin looked at the problem and said he could rig up a different fix for $450. The dealership wanted to replace the door on my 2005 car and Kevin said there was no need because it was a simple welding job. I also liked the staff there. Good, caring and friendly people. I felt really welcomed and they drove me to work while they did the repair. I can't thank them enough for saving me the time and money. read more

9/04/19 I donated at least six (all of my oil filter wrenches) to Kevin. I don't change oil anymore. Kevin has been so good to me with his work and accommodating me with rides or dropping off my vehicles. I don't have anything negative to say about his entire business. His work is good, he is easy to get along with, and when it comes to price I would say at least 1/2 of my work has been paid by the insurance of the person who caused the accident. My only problem was with (I think named ) Northwood Collision when they were in Ferndale on Woodward Ave. I brought my 1969 Corvette in there and was promised the rivets popping up in front of the hood would be redone when the car was repainted. They did not repair the rivets. I was only 22 and not as cantankerous as I am now at 67. The Michigan Bureau of Automotive Regulation would definitely hear from me now that I am wiser. Keep up the good work, Kevin! read more

We've been taking our cars to Gil's for the past 10 years, and could NOT be happier every single time. Mind you, a collision shop is not a place you want to frequent, however, there are those pesky RUST spots that happen...and that time my daughter closed her heavy garage door (no "sensor" on door) onto the back hatch & bumper of MY car! (And that time I backed into a tree pulling out of the driveway.) Arghhh! No matter, Kevin @ Gil's always makes our cars look like it never happened! :) Seriously, his work is excellent, his office staff is wonderful (& empathetic!), and they'll find a way to get your precious baby back to you with as little pain (and $) as possible in NO time! Highly recommend that if you're getting estimates -- call Kevin @ Gil's Collision. You won't be sorry! I promise! read more

Sharing this on behalf of a friend who was in an accident and decided to take his vehicle here. Initially the owner agreed to fix all necessary issues and worked hard to secure all parts. Ultimately, two doors needed to be replaced and structural work needed to be done to the b pillar. The shop did not properly replace the doors (they do not sit properly on the frame), the new window in the door is completely scratched and was installed incorrectly (the window fell off the track and the window would not roll back up), and the shop reattached the b pillar using a sheet metal screw from the outside so that it is visible (which makes it look tacky). The overall b pillar is also crunched in from the accident and no attempt to fix it was made. Upon noticing the poor workmanship and lack of quality, the car was brought back and an agreement was made to fix the issues a second time. The car was in the shop for an additional 2 weeks "being worked on", when in reality the car was never fixed a second time and had to be picked up with the looming issues still present. They essentially held the car for 2 weeks under the impression that their shotty work would be mended. The car was returned covered in dirt and dried water spots, and the interior was completely dusty and not cleaned out. The lack of professionalism is disheartening and the inability to follow through with a contact is aggravating. If the shop could not take on such a task, it should have been communicated. This was simply a money grab and an easy way to make cash from the insurance company, so quality was never a priority. I would not recommend this place for any work, let alone extensive body repair. Clearly the shop is not equipped with proper equipment and skills to handle large jobs, and you could risk being out of a vehicle for weeks. read more

Horrible!!! Kept my car for a week, and never completed any work. No phone call, nothing. When I called to pick car up, they simply said--"We're backed up". Really. No apology, nothing. Incredibly rude to women. Lots of options in the area---I guess I'll go back to Autometric--expensive, but high quality work. read more

Outstanding service. They fixed my car for the second time. Today i picked my car up and they had even cleaned my salted rugs! Thats good service. Highly recommended! read more

About 4-5 weeks ago I took my car in for an estimate and the owner inspected the work to be done and said he would give me a call when the estimate was ready. A week went by with no word, so I called and spoke with a woman in the office, she said they would get back with as soon as possible. I have never heard a word from them and have taken the car to another shop. read more
