The service at Gil's has always been exceptional! Our washer broke on Tuesday night and Wednesday I was at Gil's looking for a new solution. Dede was attentive and extremely helpful even though it was close to the time they close I never felt rushed or hurried. We are getting our replacement delivered on Saturday, so we don't have to go too long without it. The team at Gil's made sure we had all rebate forms and was extremely knowledgeable. The employees treat you like they have better things to do than waste time on you. A great way to invite more business in- is it? Upon purchasing a new refrigerator paying in full and told it would be delivered in two weeks that I'd receive a call in a week to verify. Never got that call so I called to be told that I was told it was on back order. I was not told that and my husband was me. I was then told it could be weeks or a month. Darn good thing my old refrigerator was hanging on. I've never had treatment like this buying an appliance from Lowe's or Home Depot. I will not support such an ignorantly operated small business and I don't suggest you do either. read more

When your new refrigerator breaks down (and it will), best to have bought it from an appliance store that will provide a loaner for the 2-3 weeks until it's repaired. Ours broke in August and took 3 weeks to get service. I bought it at Gil's, and asked (desperately) for any kind of loaner. They said they had a small dorm sized fridge I could borrow. 20 minutes later they called back to inform me, no, sorry, we want to put our lunches in it! This was so off-putting because 1) you don't rescind an offer to a customer desperate for refrigeration in the heat of August, and 2) they don't have a loaner fridge for their customers, when they know new fridges breakdown quite often. They actually told me new fridges break when I bought it, and convinced me to buy the extended warrantee. A small local business can only compete with the big box stores if they provide value added services. Providing a loaner fridge to desperate customers should be a no-brainer. Especially since I bought 6 appliances from them in the last two years! A friend's new fridge broke after a year, but she got a loaner because she bought from Wickford Appliance. I will be heading there next time I need a new appliance. read more

In September, our refrigerator died while on vacation. After coming home and cleaning up the mess, my husband and I decided to give Gil's Appliances a try. That was our first mistake, the refrigerator was delivered with three dents in the lower freezer drawer. It took one month to get the new drawer and they ordered the wrong part. So, my husband called and we had to wait another 10 days for the replacement. During that time, no one contacted us unless we initiated the contact. The two stars given are only because the delivery and applicance technicians were really helpful and great at their end of the process. When we purchased the refrigerator, my husband went to the showroom in person. When he expressed wanting to use the 12 months same as cash promotion, he was told to "go home and apply online" and then call back with the code he was given. So, essentially they sent him away. I should have stuck with my gut then and went to a big box retailer but I really wanted to give Gil's our business. Instead, my husband and I are the one who got the business. We are one and done! I don't believe Gil's cares one bit about customer service. I'm very sorry that I purchased this refrigerator from them. read more

After looking at our beat up 20 plus year old appliance we determined it was time to replace them. After shopping around we decided to purchase them at Gil's and we were and are extremely satisfied with our purchases. Gil's expertise and customer service is outstanding. Sara (Our sales person) was knowledgeable, took the time to show us what our options were and provided everything we needed to get our rebate from the manufacturer (GE was running a promotion). Sara was awesome. The delivery and installation was seamless and professionally taken care of. A great experience!!! Only goods things to say about Gil's. Their showroom is great as well. Bought a GE driver in early 2023. Broke down in late 2024 - putting out no heat. Went to Gil's to get service and they told me I'd have to wait until after Xmas, a 10-day wait with the holidays, etc. And they said they had an up-front charge of $120 just for someone to look at it, with parts and labor after that - so probably a $200 repair. Said the repair guy would call to set up a time. I needed to do laundry for the holidays, so reached out to an independent repairman, and he opened it up and showed me the common defect that is causing all these GE dryers to break down - a wire that overheats and breaks. Gil's simply told me the 1-yr warranty expired - no effort to make good on an obviously faulty product they sell (and of course, GE never bothered with a recall even though this is a common defect). The guy I brought in fixed it. I called Gil's and left a voicemail to cancel the repair appointment. Guess what? The repair guy was ringing our doorbell the morning of Dec 26. No one at Gil's passed on my phone message, but the repair people never called to set up a time, either. Just seems like ineptitude. And the up-front charge was, to me, just more gouging. The guy I hired had the job done in 20 minutes and charged me $50. My one previous experience was years ago when we bought a black stovetop to be installed on our electric. The Gil's guy showed up with a white top. So I'm kind of done with them. I want to support local businesses but Gil's didn't make it a positive experience. read more

We have always had good experiences with Gil's, purchasing several appliances from them over the years. A few years ago we had trouble with the light in our LG refrigerator and called them to ask about it. They discovered that there had been a recall on that, and arranged for someone to come and replace the light and all the gaskets at no charge. Recently, the same frig, purchased in '07, had leaking water hoses. We called the same repair service and paid a service charge of $129 for them to look at it. Two days later they called and said the parts were no longer available. Period! I called Gil's and we wound up going to Bristol where Denise was RELENTLESS in seeking and eventually locating the needed parts. She had them shipped to us, then arranged for a reliable service to install them at a reasonable cost. We were even able to return a couple of the parts that were not necessary. We are very grateful to her for all her time, effort and patience and are loyal fans forever! Joan & Jim H. read more

Gil's sold us a new sub zero refrigerator that is not compatible with the RI electrical circuit breaker code and frequently trips the circuit breaker. we have lost a lot of frozen food when we have been away. We were not informed of this possibility before our purchase and They have NOT been helpful in solving the problem with Sub Zero since it has occurred. read more

I've had a marvelous experience in purchasing a gas dryer, dishwasher, and refrigerator from Gil's. From Patty in sales to Paul in installation to the delivery gentlemen -- all were excellent! Patty went above and beyond in finding me a refrigerator and was so knowledgeable about the inventory, Paul installed the dishwasher and dryer expediently, very professionally, and neatly, and the gentlemen who just left after delivering my refrigerator did so quickly and effortlessly. I cannot say enough good things about my Gil's experience. Even Gil's prices were great -- commensurate with the big box and other appliance stores, and there is NO comparison to make in terms of service -- Gil's wins hands down over every other appliance store with which I've worked. Gil's made it a pleasant experience buying and installing three major appliances, rather than the painful ones I've had with other stores. This was our first time working with Gil's. We ordered sixteen high end appliances for a commercial building with tight spaces. They were diligent in finding machines, despite a scarcity of supply due to the war in the Ukraine. When the appliances were delivered, 50% were damaged to the extent that they couldn't be installed. Between the damaged machines (which were promptly repaired), an absence of information about plumbing and electrical needs, and inflamed/accusatory communications, the order escalated to an unbearable level of grief for our team. With a purchase of this scale, or any scale, a skilled and developed manner of oversight and communication are expected. read more

Although the buying experience was pretty good, the service has been awful. Dryer wasn't working and we could smell gas. Called and they sent a service person from GE who apparently does the warranty work. This is where the problem is. The person showed up on a Thursday, figured out what was wrong then claimed to have ordered the part on the spot and it would arrive by fed-ex. The tech from GE couldn't come back till Wednesday the following week. We're a family of 5 without a dryer for the next 7 days. The part never arrived and the tech never returned calls. We contacted Gills several times and they were pleasant but really couldn't accomplish much. They were not able to get anyone from GE to tell us what was happening. We would have to continually call them to see what what happening, which is probably my biggest pet peeve. You shouldn't go a day without giving a customer some type of answer. It's not been over a week since the tech was supposed to arrive and still no real answers but we think someone might arrive Monday (another 6 days from when they were supposed to come). Bottom line, I would inquire as to the warranty if you buy anything from Gil's. If the warranty work is done through GE I wouldn't purchase. Because apparently GE isn't very capable and Gil's has trouble getting them to react to anything. Not a good combination. read more

Disappointed because they sent out their contractor to do measurements in my kitchen . The person they sent was only interested in making it a bigger job than it needed to be which wasn't necessary. I did get someone at Gil's who gave me a great alternative but this person, Jake never sent me an email for follow-up and their contractor never called me back. Disappointed is an understatement. I liked their products but the lack of follow-up and their installer has made me want to go to another appliance vendor now. read more

This Fall, during a period of constrained supplies due to Covid shipping delays, Gils' had exactly the washer/dryer pair that I wanted in stock. The staff I spoke with were very pleasant to talk with; they knew what I was looking for, got an order set-up quickly, and then was able to offer delivery and set-up as soon as the next day. When the delivery came, the crew was like a race-car team. They removed the old washer and dryer, swept the area, and put the supply and drain hoses, electric cables, and dryer vent on quickly. They made sure everything worked perfectly before they left. Super impressed! read more

I wanted to buy from Gil's, but they never returned calls. We went in person and saleswoman was knowledgeable and showroom very nice, but we weren't ready to decide. We left messages and even spoke to a manager but never got a call back. Even went in for a second visit. We chalked it up to the pandemic, but when we saw the Gil's truck delivering in our neighborhood we just couldn't figure it out. Anyway, we went to S&W in East Providence and got all 4 appliances that we wanted, installed and both rebates (they put in for them) in a timely manner for a few $100's less. Try there. read more

I went to this place after going to a few appliance chain stores...All other stores kept giving me conflicting information about what I needed to do with my stove and refrigerator areas. I had an old stove and refrigerator that I wanted to replace, but wasn't sure how. Every employee at Gil's was very friendly and helpful. I went there a few times in the early stages just to get advice on what I should do....They were spot on with what I needed and once I knew what I had to do, they pointed me in the right direction for both appliances. I even bought a stove hood there, and they recommended two names of people to come install the hood and stove, which turned out to be great recommendations! Now we have a great stove (and hood above it) with a great refrigerator. I know exactly where to go next time I need to buy a major appliance. read more

This local appliance store is a regional treasure. Our summer house in Tiverton needed a new washer and dryer, I read the reviews on consumer reports and visited Gils to check them out before I brought my wife to see them. The woman who helped me was extremely knowledgable. She wrote up a quote, explained what needed to be done to convert the dryer to LP gas, etc. I then returned with my wife who had detailed questions. At first we got handed to an employee who didn't know anything about LG washers and dryers and painfully began to look our questions up on-line. Luckily another employee interceded and told my wife that she had these appliances installed in her home to "test them out." I rolled my eyes when I heard that. Typical sales pitch I thought. But then she proceeded to explain _every_ single button and control on the panel, talked us out of getting an unneeded option ("nah, you'll never use it") and explained the pros and cons of the machines and her experience with it. She made the sale on the spot. The delivery went like clockwork. Gil's coordinated with a plumber to shut off our gas to remove the old washer and install the new gas connection (they aren't allowed to do it) who arrived just as the deliveryman did. Old washer and dryer were removed, new ones installed. Most painless installation I've ever had. Gil's now has a customer for life. read more

Horrible! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Refrigerator was delivered and it had dents and scratches, I paid a lot of money for a new refrigerator to be damaged. Plus , I got the run around and was blamed that it just fit through the door. When I showed them the pictures of the damage being mostly inside the fridge , they gave me touch up paint ! Then tried to offer $75 off. No thanks! I returned it and the people picking it up put two huge scratches in my door way. Really awful! They didn't even make right by it. I really wanted to like this place with some good reviews I had read but was so dissatisfied. After all that, I actually got it $400 cheaper at another store !!! read more

Generally speaking appliances sell for about the same price. So why buy from one dealer rather than the next? After sales follow up. We had a 14 month old GE refridgerator that failed us and we lost much of its contents. After the labor day weekend we went to Gil's and Alexandria arranged for an appointment with GE for the next day. Nothing turned up with GE's diagnostic, so really nothing was accomplished by them. Patty from Gil's has supported us all of the way and has arranged for a followup visit by GE. Maybe a software update has cured the problem, we will see. We appreciate the caring response from Gil's. Hope to follow up this story with a happy ending. Gil's is doing their part. Hopefully GE will do the same. read more

Once again I had a successful transaction with Gil's appliance. Even in these strange days with Covid-19. My dishwasher broke two weeks ago. I went to Gil's website found my replacement, called the Bristol store and a very knowledgeable sales person answered all my questions and gave some very good advice. I ordered my dishwasher and it was delivered and my old one taken away within a week of placing my order. Everything accomplished to my satisfaction without having to leave my home. Our aging dryer kicked the bucket so I was in the market for a new dryer; doing research for a new one on Consumer Reports led to frustrating experiences at a few big box stores since they weren't that helpful and either didn't have what I was looking for or whatever they had that was comparable was back ordered for a month or two - not an option. Based on a recommendation and past experience with Gil's, I popped in on Columbus Day and not only did they have exactly what I was looking for, I worked with one of the owners (Gail) to purchase the dryer and paired washer for a discount, set up financing, and had it scheduled for delivery and installation (old units hauled away) the next day. Couldn't have hoped for a better outcome. read more

Our 15-year old Whirlpool washer finally died (after no problems over the years). So, we wanted to replace it and the Whirlpool dryer (still working great) quickly. First place we went to was Gil's in Middletown and we looked at one of the high-end Electrolux pairs. Saw many outstanding reviews for these units on-line, in particular how well it cleans (and quietly). Salesman (Norman) was extremely helpful with no-pressure. Delivered and installed within a week. Had a couple very minor follow-ups required regarding the install set-up, but Patty from the store was extremely helpful and patient throughout my calls. Ultimately, she quickly arranged for an local external service company to come resolve the issue. Very happy with the follow-up service from Gil's and we will use them for future items that we have planned for replacement. read more

Needed to replace a microwave. The person we worked with was extremely helpful and actually guided us to the lowest-price option (of three that would fit the available built-in space.) We picked up the new microwave and surround two days later, on time, and Gil's even took the old microwave and surround for disposal. While things began well enough in getting a warm referral to Gils and being provided the owner's cell phone to pick up a washer & dryer after store hours, everything went downhill when the dryer was plugged in and a huge 220 volt flash/short occurred from an ARC burn/short at the machine - metal cased machine being a dryer I mind you. Thank God my circuit breaker worked or I could have been electrocuted as I subsequently determined that they (not the manufacturer) didn't properly attach the three wires to the machine as one was completely disconnected, touching the middle terminal and THANK GOD NOT THE DRYER'S CASING! I texted back and forth with the owner that Sunday evening, was incredibly respectful of it being Sunday evening and continually suggested we could deal with this the next day. I was incredibly disappointed that she didn't just not apologize for the mishap but then went on further to text me back and suggest that this happening was why they preferred to do their deliveries and installs themselves - a completely lame, disrespectful passing of the buck from themselves to me the customer when this had everything to do with their incompetence. Further, she wanted to have their repair person come out to fix the machine versus just replacing it. It had a fried terminal block (that the screws attaching the cord fasten to) and God only knows (independent of the repair techs opinion) if any other damage potentially occurred - whose to say a thin, high gauge wire wouldn't melt and catch fire with the dryer running at full cycle in July or fail just out of warranty. Lastly, her text indicating "if it would make you feel better we can replace it" was another example of a complete lack of concern or respect for me the customer and my concerns. They did come out and replace the machine as I denied allowing it to be repaired. It was then that I saw their install techs in action (who knows if one of them was the person who didn't properly attach the three wires). The tech struggled with getting the dryer hose to stay on the machine. I didn't have this problem - I proceeded to show him how to attach it by simply putting a slight bend/crimp in the 5" tapered pipe on the dryer prior to fastening it. Finally, in closing I will also add that I returned a call to the store that next afternoon, the very owner answered and when I asked if it was her, I said my name and she didn't bother to say sorry or to explain what happened, she just told me that it was delivery that had called and put me on hold. She had every opportunity at that point to simply acknowledge and apologize and chose not to. read more

Our new Bosch range purchased at Gil's had several issues. The stainless cook top scorched the first time I turned on the gas burner, the warming drawer would lock and stay closed, the sides of the range were flimsy and loose, and when the oven door was opened, it would leave a gash in the metal where the door met the oven. Bosch would not replace the range, but Gil's took it upon themselves to replace the range with a new one. Patty was understanding and great to work with. So happy with the customer service here, the likes of which one just can't expect anymore. read more

I wish I could give this store zero stars. We recently purchased an entire kitchen's worth of Electrolux appliances from Gil's for $14,000. We ordered the appliances over the phone because the store is quite a distance from our house. We asked the salesperson, Patty, if it was okay to order on the phone and she said "absolutely". One of the items we ordered was a hood for over the range. I asked Patty for a chimney style hood and she recommended one to us which we purchased. We had the hood installed and removed the protective film and discovered that the hood was a completely different color than all of the other appliances that they sold to us. When we asked the store to make it right and replace the hood with a properly matching hood they refused. They first attempted to blame the hood manufacturer. When that didn't work they tried to blame us for installing it when it was a different color. We pointed out that the white protective film on the hood couldn't be removed until after installation per the manufacturers instructions. They still refused to fix the problem and now claimed that the hood does match the appliances. I asked that the owner, Gail, come to my house to see that it doesn't match and she accused said no because she was going on vacation and that I had ruined it for her and hung up on me! Do yourself a favor - go to Wickford Appliance and stay away from Gil's at all costs! They are absolutely horrible! read more
