I recently held my 2 granddaughters high school graduation event here at the Gilroy Lodge on the Hill. Jenny was the even co-ordinator and was very helpful before, during and after our even which was held on a Sunday evening. I got so many compliments on the food that was served which tasted so delicious. We just had 170 guests but everything was perfect. I highty recommend this place for your special event. read more

I got married here in May of 2019 and it was the most memorable day of my life. The moment we set foot in this place we knew we had to get married here. The price was right, the coordinator Charlene was so helpful and the place was so beautiful and simple. Things I loved: -Outside patio for outdoor ceremony -bridal room -food was tasty - open bar, we did a his and hers drink -very spacious for 200 people - restrooms were nice and clean - very intimate setting - space did not feel crowded - catering team was friendly and quick to help clear tables Wedding planning is sooooo overwhelming but it felt so nice to have Charlene help us every step of the way. She was very prompt with responding to our questions and we even hired her as our onsite coordinator for our wedding day which was the best decision we could have made. Everything for the most part went smooth and I never felt stressed. I am only giving them 4 stars because I do feel like they can make some improvements with their food tasting. My husband and I were a little disappointed that we had to taste the same food versus each trying something different. We expressed our concerns and they were able to accommodate us with a second tasting since we were not satisfied with our first tasting. Also, we told the catering team that we had a friend that was vegan. They served him a plate with salad and strawberries. In a way that was our fault for not checking in with them with what the actual plate would be. My friend was a good sport about it but I felt so bad because he was really hungry. Lastly, our package included one hour to clean up after the ceremony ended but all my guests were rushed out by security leaving just my parents, myself and a couple of bridesmaids to gather our belongings. If they didnt rush everybody out we could have had more people help with taking down our personal decorations and not felt so rushed and stressed to get out. At this point Charlene was no longer in the building since she was with us since the morning but I do hope that in the future security respects that one hour and does not kick guests out. After much searching, we landed on the Lodge on the Hill for our wedding. With just 6 months to plan, Andrea was extremely helpful in providing guidance and keeping us on pace to lock down the logistics. We loved that the catering and rentals were handled through the Lodge so we had fewer vendors to juggle. And the food turned out great! There are plenty of options for the bride and groom to choose from and we got lots of compliments on the fresh and delicious food from our guests. The views are also stellar and the old growth oak trees and hills surrounding the property made for a serene setting for our summer wedding. We even lucked out with a 75 degree day in July so it was a truly magical event! I don't hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone planning a wedding or event at that scale, especially on a budget. You get more than your money's worth and you get to work with helpful staff that are there to make your day as stress-free as possible. This was an ideal venue for our daughter's wedding reception. There are so many things that we appreciated: the size of the venue was perfect for our event with 160 guests, their pricing is fair, the staff is friendly and accommodating, the food was AMAZING. It's a beautiful location. The highlight of our experience with Lodge on the Hill was working with the events manager, Charlene. I can't say enough about how wonderful she was. Overall, she is super friendly and professional. When we had questions (and we had many), she spent as much time with us as we needed. We never felt rushed. She was very accommodating and detail oriented, great with follow-through and communicated with us in a timely manner. She is easy going and offered helpful advice, but was not overbearing. Planning a big event is stressful and her kindness and support made a huge difference, especially at the end when the weather took a turn on us and we had to change several things at the last minute. One of our biggest questions was about food because my daughter has celiac disease and is very sensitive to gluten. Eating out can be risky. We explained to Charlene our concern about my daughter getting sick from the food on her wedding day. She clearly communicated the situation to the caterer and we had no problems at all! Several of our guests also mentioned that the dinner was delicious and beautifully presented. Lodge on the Hill was an excellent venue for us, and we highly recommend it. This venue has been the location of 2 weddings Ive been to. The latter visit (last night) I was the coordinator of the wedding. Victoria is the venue's Event Coordinator and was beyond hospitable, attentive and kind, everything you wish you could work with in creating a memorable day for the bride and groom. The rest of their staff was prompt, attentive and professional. This venue is secluded in the sprawling hills of Gilroy. The property is set on a property of its own which allows for privacy and ample parking. The setting for the ceremony was outside right off of their large overlooking Gilroy itself. When you are seated though you don't see the homes below but instead the focus of your attention are the bride and groom and the never ending sky and depending on time of year, the green mountains. Makes for aesthetically pleasing ceremony pictures. The reception room is large and surrounded by floor to ceiling windows which just add to the open feel. The facility is well kept and clean. The bar was well stocked and bartender well versed in the art of alcohol mixology. Their reception room accomodated the 150 guests that were there last night without feeling as if people were sitting on top of each other, and even allowed for a row of cocktail hour, tall boy tables. We started our day at 9AM and were all done by 10:30. Victoria was there from beginning until right after the cake cutting which was about 7:30/8. Checking with me periodically to ensure there wasn't anything I needed. So if you're looking for a wedding venue this place doesnt disappoint. It's so well nestled in the mountains when you're there it feels as if you are secluded from the rest of the world. All hotels are 10 minutes from the venue. Stores for last minute forgotten items about 5 minutes away. I will suggest this venue every single time if asked, as it is affordable while giving you a sense of it is well worth every penny. This review is long over due. My husband and I got married on May 30, 2015 at the Lodge and it was beautiful. It was beautiful day and the weather cooperated nicely for an outdoor ceremony. The reception was in the main ballroom and the place cleans up nice! The reason we choose this venue was because we loved the giant windows and we still wanted nature to be seen from the inside. The food served during the reception was amazingly delish. I say that not because I was starving but because it really was that good! (Also, regarding the indoors, the bathrooms are really nice. That was important to me.). A really great feature was that we were able to take our wedding photos on the golf course (both sides). They turned out lovely and we didn't need to drive far to take photos. This was super convenient. Susan, the events manager, did an outstanding job making sure everything ran smoothly. She was great about answering all my questions and addressing my concerns. I would most definitely recommend this location to anyone. I wouldn't have changed a thing about my wedding. My Dad chose this place to have his Father's Day buffet style breakfast. It is a cute place with incredible views all around. It would make a nice place to hold a small wedding reception. Its nothing fancy but very practical and the views are great for photo taking. Plus there is plenty of parking! The breakfast we had was $14 each which was well worth the price. There was a line full of smiling volunteers to make you omelets and serve you yummy breakfast foods. The tables were bused by the local Boy Scouts and they did a great job. I booked this venue for my daughter's 15th birthday party and I totally recommend the place. It's perfect we used the patio the bar lobby the whole place. It was in August so the weather was perfect a little hot but by sunset it was beautiful we had a few tables out there. The venue was so spacious we had our Spanish music (Banda and Mariachi) inside and the DJ (for teenagers ) out in the patio so you could listen to what ever you prefer. The food was awesome everyone loved it we did buffet style the bartenders, servers everyone there was so nice and helpful Thank You! We did the photo booth in the lobby so it was perfect. I have nothing bad to say about the place my daughter still talks about her quince. There is so much parking as well I truly recommend the place for a wedding your quince party, sweet sixteen. My review is long over due too. My daughter, son in law, and I went out looking for places for their wedding and we found the lodge to be what fitted our budget the most. I must say to anyone getting married there it is hard to visualize what everything will look like on the day of the wedding but, I must say that the place dresses up beautifully!!! It can look plain when you are just visiting, but once decorated it looks beautiful! Susan had great ideas, and we kept my daughter's wedding under a budget. the view through the windows and outdoors was great, my daughter's wedding party took pictures on site at the golf coarse, and they turned out beautiful. I recommend any one to visit their wedding fair to get ideas. I got so many complements from our guest, about everything and the food was delicious! I have been complaining about my treatment when attempting to join the Gilroy Elks aka lodge on the hill. I told them my father and brother were Elk members and they told me to leave and not come back because they do not know me. Well it seems yelp has removed my negative comments not once but at least 5 times. Yelp is a joke when you tell the truth about what happened to me. They remove what they don't want to see. I usually do not write reviews, but if I could prevent anyone else from the STRESS and frustration this place has caused me and my family, then I feel I should write one. I would have liked someone to have warned me about this place. DO NOT use the Elks Lodge! Where do I start with my explanation? I started to look at venues for my wedding for June 2014. I wanted a nice place for a decent price. I also wanted a place that knows what they are doing and would not cause me stress. It all started out fine. Made the booking of my date got some pricing info for food and rental and everything. Perfect. I booked a little over a year in advance, I think it was in May 2013. I am a person that does not like to wait until the last minute. So some time goes by. In January 2014 I call to check in and schedule a tasting for the food. The event coordinator at the time was Kendra. We DID NOT get a call to let us know that the hall changed caterers and the prices increased. WOW! We had planned for a certain price this whole time and tried to stay under a certain budget. BIG SURPRISE! So, I'm kind of freaking out, but it's too late to chose a different venue and they don't allow us to use a different caterer. So sign me up for a tasting. She gives me very specific dates that are once a month. My husband and I are pretty busy so I had to talk with him to select a date and call them back. I called back the next day, but she was not in her office so I left a message telling her the day I selected (April 2014 for tasting) and for her to call me back if she had any other questions. So, the week of our tasting I get a call from Kendra saying that she needs to talk to me about my food. I call her asking her if we were all set for the tasting and she tells me that she DOES NOT have me down for a tasting. Are you kidding me! I am starting to become very frustrated. They must have messed up something on their schedule because why else would she be calling me a few days before my tasting that I selected. I told her that she gave me specific dates to chose from for my tasting and for me to select a date and tell her. And she tells me that that's not how its done and I have to do all of that with the caterer. WOW! she still has not given me the caterers contact so I have no idea who they are. And this is a few months before my wedding. I am in almost freak out mode. So, I tell her she never gave me the contact info for the caterer and I need it. I call the caterer right away to get everything all figured out. The company that caters is called Just in Tyme. She tells me that their starting price is $35/person. WHAT! starting price! WHAT! The prices that I received when I booked started at $25 and highest was $32. We selected a $30/person plate. That was a good price for our budget because we had 250 people. And there is definitely no turning back now. So, I schedule a tasting for May 2014, one month before my wedding. I am like this is crazy. So after I try to find reviews/info on these people. There are not very many reviews, they are very new. I can see a very well reviewed/well known catering company charging higher prices, but starting out that pretty ridiculous. So, we go to our tasting and thankfully the caterers were able to work out a deal with us so that we would get a plate for $30/adult and $21/child under 10yrs. We have our final numbers and we go to the Lodge 2 weeks before the wedding date to pay for everything. We were happy to hear that Kendra was no longer working there and there was a new lady. The new even coordinator, Joyce, had told my mom that we only needed two security guards. And we paid for three, so we would get some money back. So, we go in to pay, We get the invoice only to find out that they are not giving us a discount for children. And, Joyce has left early, so we had to speak with some other office lady. I guess she had no clue on any lodge event info. We even called ahead to let them know were were coming to pay. I told her the caterer said that children are at a discounted price, and she says, "well it doesn't say that in the contract." WHAT! freak out mode again! We told her that we are not paying that amount, but we paid most it and told them we will pay the rest when every thing is all figured out. The caterers inform the lodge about our final total amount. Then we get another surprise. Joyce tells us we need 4 security guards instead of 2. WHAT! and they are not cheap. She tells me that she called Gilroy PD and that is city policy. I ask her who she talked to and she tells me that she doesn't know. WOW. Right after I get off the phone with her I call Gilroy PD, and guess what they tell me, there is NO city policy. WHAT! She lied! I am furious! but there is nothing I can do now, but wait until after my wedding... For the 1 star- let us set up day before -nice facility read more

Amazing location, friendly staff and the food was wonderful. Just hosted a fundraising event for 200 people here. I could have not been more pleased with the entire process. I highly recommend this place for any occasions. They also have a beautiful outside patio with views of the valley. I would love to have gotten married here or had my reception here. My now husband and I first came across the Gilroy Lodge On The Hill back in October of 2017 while searching for a wedding venue. I contacted the lodge's email and very quickly got a response from Victoria. She was increadibly helpful, informative and super patient with all of my questions. After deliberating on venues we decided on the lodge for our wedding on 8.25.18 and we are so glad that we did! Victoria made the entire process as stress free as she could and convininent for us when ever possible. She worked with us to make sure that our day was thoughtfully planned. The entire staff was friendly and informative at all times and we got tons of compliments on the food, the beautiful property and Frank the bartender! Thank you Frank! I really can't say enough about the Lodge crew and how helpful they were the day of our wedding. They made sure we had everything we needed, that we did as little as possible to just enjoy the night and victoria was ontop of our timeline to keep us on track. Do not choose elks lodge for a wedding!!!!! I had my wedding there this past may and when I first went there a year before the wedding to plan everything I thought that the venue was great and the staff was great. Things were going smoothly everything was planned and ready. Then two months before my wedding they had some changes happen that dramatically effected my wedding and others around the same time I see after reading the post already on here from Marisa j. First we were told the same thing that the catering company was new and the prices were different then what we had already planned with the lodge a year in advance. So after weeks of going back and forth with the lodge and caterers telling them that we cant afford an extra few grand to pay for the original menu we had planned with them. luckily the catering manager and owner worked with us on the menu and costs, but it was stress that shouldn't have been caused two months before the wedding date. Then our coordinator quit a few weeks before the wedding that we have had since day one helping us plan everything, and she quit because of how they treated her at the lodge. So that goes to show you the owners and staff. So after a horrible few weeks before the wedding making sure that everything will even still happen, I go over the final costs with the replacement coordinator and get it approved before sending in the payments. I had a payment deadline and I set up multiple appointments with the replacement coordinator and every time flaked on me. So I didn't meet my coordinator till the day of the wedding. who from the very first thing she said to me was extremely rude. She seemed like she did not want to be there at all and was not only unfamiliar with my timeline or event in general.. was rude with my mother and family and myself on the day of my own wedding. we were running a bit behind schedule because my cake fell over during the delivery and we were trying to get it presentable again, so we started about 30 mins late. So once the ceremony was done, she pulls me aside and tells me we have to skip our first dance because we wont have time for it because my mom was late and it pushed everything back. Who tells the bride that she has to skip her first dance with her new husband the day of the wedding!!! Thankfully the caterer Diane took over and played the role as coordinator, because she was the only person who would meet with me and actually cared that it was my wedding, she took care of us the whole day. And after finding out my sister had to pull the replacement coordinator to the side to make sure she did her job, after that it was already time for the dj's to pretty much take over, she brought us water and checked on us at our table a few times. But by then it was already too late for her to do her job. Now after everything was said and done I never thought I would be so relived to be done with my wedding. It was a constant battle with the lodge and no matter how great the set up there is and the decent prices, DO NOT DO WEDDINGS HERE!!! Please do hire "Just in thyme" catering though there food is amazing and staff is great, just do not trust the elks lodge to do anything that will be beneficial for your wedding. Also after reading the post from Marisa j, and finding out that I spent an extra 400 dollars on security guards that I didn't even need to have made me want to write a post even more. And now two months later I receive an email from the "coordinator" stating that I owe them money for the champagne still because the price that she gave me was wrong and so now I have to pay for their mistake. I don't think so! I felt it was very unprofessional the way they handled my entire wedding, I paid them a lot of money to do there job and they couldn't even do the simplest things. And just because she gave pre ordered and paid for the champagne and just so happened to not know the price after doing all that... now is trying to tell me I owe them money! I would have been better off just eloping somewhere rather than dealing with this venue. The only reason I put one star is because the place is beautiful. That's about it. And honestly I only posted the big stuff, there was so much more that crap that went on with this horrible place. read more

I recently attended an event at the Gilroy Lodge on the Hill and was so impressed. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by Susan Filice, the Event Manager, every detail for our friends wedding was attended to. I have been to alot of events and weddings in my life and I have never seen such attention to detail. The Chef even came out and asked my wife how everything was. It was delicious! I can't say enough about the venue, the view is beautiful, the room elegant, and the service was great. Everyone we encountered was so professional. I couldn't believe how much the manager was involved, she was orchestrating everything and doing it all with a smile. I'm going to book any event I can at this location. read more

When I was planning my wedding, I had to change my venue about four months before the date. I changed from a park to the Gilroy Lodge on the Hill and it was the best decision! Andrea, the wedding coordinator, took care of us and helped us organize and plan our wedding. She was on it! The food was AMAZING and all of our guests came to us to compliment the food. The setup, take-down, and running of the entire wedding went so smoothly. I definitely recommend this venue to anyone wanting to host a large event such as a wedding.
