Gillespie's Map Room was a fun time my buddy really enjoyed the pizza. Beer was cold. Atmosphere was fun on a Saturday got a couple spots at the bar was full and initially went downstairs but went back up for food and found a spot. Groups next to us were fun and interesting. Would check it out again. Service was efficient and friendly enough. read more

Not sure if they are known for their pizza but they should! I'd have to say one of the best pizzas I think I have had. Just look at it. If that doesn't scream this is going to be great, I don't know what will. Pretty busy with football on tv but was able to find a place at the bar. Beers were never empty with great staff and fast service. Gotta try their pizza. My only complaint is that I didn't order a large. read more

OLD RELIABLE! Yes it's true. Everybody knows the map room sets the standard for dive bar +. It's not really a dive so that's why the +. But it is. Ya know?? Browns home game tradition. Staple of w. 9th. Where is it? Across from Constantino's. Where to park. Right in front. Most of the time IT's FREE. LOL. Sara is the greatest. Wonderful pizzas and hot dogs. I had a great buff chicken salad there too. So fresh. When I was on jury I scoped it out for our going away lunch. No problem. Always open for lunch dinner you name it. Lots of places you'd better check first. It's such an iconic joint one of my jurist gave me the "a good choice" award. Cool stuff hanging up everywhere. Get there. But if you're from here, you already been. 5 stars it's great. read more

The coldest beer I had in Cleveland. It almost burned the throat, and that's awesome. As a self-diagnosed travel nerd, the theme here really worked for me, culminating with a large-scale model airplane hanging near the back of the room. There's also an impressively long bar that I wish I could have seen during a busy service. Unfortunately, my visit came on a non-holiday Monday around 2 p.m. Not exactly peak bar-going hours anywhere. Still, I didn't drink alone, as a few like-minded patrons kept me company. The bartender was friendly and wearing a shirt that read, "I'm not even supposed to be here today," from the movie Clerks. That won me over before we even spoke. A fun neighborhood watering hole with plenty of personality. read more

Stopped in for late night drinks with friends and sat at the bar. Our bartender was super polite, always smiling, and quick to get our drinks together. She had good report with the guests, even asking our friends about the baby they're expecting. The decor in the bar is an interesting mix of Scottish bagpipes, wood tones, Italian flags, beer and sports memorabilia. read more

Food: Great pizza and great beer, what more do you wanna hear about? Service: Got our order in as soon as we sat down and continued to check on us. Ambiance: Great vibes in a smaller bar that fills up. TouchTunes available as well. read more

What a great bar. I live in Ireland and am so pleased to have found Gillespies's Map Room. Great pub, great pizza, great beer, great staff. I've been twice this week already and will be back tomorrow night too. Thanks Carl and staff. You guys nailed it. read more

From my experience you can almost always count on Map Room to be lively on the weekends. Lots of TVs, good place to watch a game. The pizza is solid, and they serve it fairly late. Lots of beers on tap. Service is reliable. Crowd can trend 20s, but you won't feel out of place if you're older. Solid downtown option. read more

Cheapish drinks. Good pizza. Plenty of televisions with different programs on (if it's game day). The female bartender, I think her name is Sara, is awesome. Only problem is the bathrooms are disgusting. Would be five stars if they cleaned the bathroom. read more

Best Bar in downtown Cleveland. People that work and patronize this place are so friendly. Really enjoyed the location and ambiance. Great laid back feel. Food was well priced and fun. Pizzas are the big thing here but I grabbed a hotdog on the way to the game. Didn't disappoint! Will be make a point to always come here! read more

The multiple times I've had Map Room's pizza, they never disappoint. Great pizza and good vibes. I could have a whole pie to myself. If you drink, they have variety of beers on tap and in bottles/cans. I mainly go for the pizza. read more

What a Cleveland staple! Amazing pizza, favorite fries, and my beer is always cold! Jimmy is a great bartender! Thank you

I tried this place because it was part of the American Airlines rewards program. It looked good online, and I was planning on spending the afternoon there watching football. Had 1 beer and left. There was only one server in the front of the house. Very slow to even recognize she had someone new. I wasn't crazy about any of the drafts available. But the real issue was that I was (eventually) served a draft beer in a plastic cup. That's a hard deal breaker. This isn't a college bar, and I'm not 21 years old. I get that sometimes when the bar has extreme volume, like on game days, it's necessary. It was a cold winter Saturday. No excuse for that. I was reaching for my credit card before the cup even hit the bar. I'm 60 years old. I don't want to be served in a plastic cup like I'm at a frat party. To add insult to injury, on the way out I saw that other people had draft beer in proper glasses. I'll never go back to this place again. read more

So this is definitely good for an after work happy hour. They have all the usual beverages drinkers usually want, I just wish their tequila selection was a little better. I honestly would have given another star because the food can be really good. My issue is trying to place a to go order. EVERYTIME I order I ask for crispy fries and I ALWAYS get soggy fries! This is really a pain when you don't have time to wait for a new order. So only 3 stars for wasting my time and leaving me hungry. Everyone seems to really love the pizza, however, the sauce is a bit sweet for my taste. The other bar staples are good though. Mozzarella sticks and chicken tenders are always a good go to. On the right day, you might catch Michael on the piano. read more

Im from out of town and I went here at 10pm on Friday to grab a pizza and a beer. This place was packed and I couldn't believe I didn't know it was the busiest bar downtown. I found a spot at the bar to order the pizza and I waited for about 45 min for said pizza. I walked back to my hotel room with the pizza and I'll tell you what, this pizza is one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Hands down top 3. I am blown away. read more

We had a Deluxe and a Hawaiian pizza. Both were very good and eaten quickly by our crowd. Great assortment of beers on tap including a new discovery for us, Shiner Seasonal. The Cavs playoff game kept the crowd energized. The crowd was young and fun. Two large pizzas and multiple rounds of beer for five people was about $100. That is a pretty good value. Definitely will be back when in the area. read more

Pizza was good, mac bites are an avoid. Good atmosphere. I found this place at lunch and the server showed good interest in everyone in the establishment. It did get busy and she was all alone but she handled it all. Lots of locals stopped in for a mid day bite and drink. read more

Old school Cleveland place where you can get a pint, have a good conversation and get good service.

Fair notice, it's a bar with some really good food so don't look for a way to seat more than maybe 4 to 6 people. That said, once we figured out that no one was coming to take a food order‐no clear instructions on that-we had some really great food. One person got a pizza while two others got one of the hot sandwiches. Mine, the chicken teriyaki, was loaded with ingredients and was perfect. Good bread, great sauce, and plenty of sandwich. Everything looked really good and no one left anthing but crumbs on the plates. Fair prices and good food. Nothing fancy but it was well worth the walk of a few blocks to find it. read more

We got the large deluxe pizza and it was phenomenal! The pizza was cooked just the way we wanted it. The crust was not too thin either! The house salad was a great size to share for a great prize! We finished our meal with the jalapeño poppers. It came with a side of ranch. Perfect way to end the meal. read more

Oh my god...where do I begin? Came in here for a birthday party and I was immediately enamored by the above average customer service from Kimmie. She was incredible-from the history of the spot, all the way down to the recommendations of local establishments. I cannot BELIEVE I've never been here before-let's just say I'll be coming here again AND AGAIN AND AGAIN and again. The food was impeccable and the service was unprecedented. WOW. I actually can't even believe I'm here right now. Going to recommend this place to my mom and her associates read more

Salad is huge and also good. Chicken fingers, pizza and canzone are on point. Was a meeting place for lunch while working downtown.

The food there is awesome ! The cook John thats there in the afternoon makes eating bar food a delight. he never gets my order wrong, and no matter how much i have drank i still just have to have me some pizza before i go. thank you. everytime that i come in town im coming to the MAP ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Stopped here around 7:00 after an event at the nearby convention center. Was greeted at the door and welcomed in. I sat at the bar and ordered what the bartender recommended - a beer on tap and a stromboli. Food and drink was excellent! Large portion for a great price. The room was small, but it was cool to sit at the old fashioned bar and check out the airplane on the ceiling. I highly recommend this place. read more

I really love this bar. It's a gem of a dive bar in the midst of the club scene of the warehouse district. My favorite things: 1) the pizza, which is always perfect and delicious and has the perfect crust (love the bbq chicken) 2) good beer list 3) random and amusing music 4) perfect place to watch a game, like when the cavs killed the heat tonight It's really low key, and the service can be slow on a busy night, but if you're in the mood for a chill night, it's just perfect. read more

After sitting for awhile and never being acknowledged, I went to the bar to ask for a drink and learned I needed to order at the bar. This would not have been a problem at all if there would have been acknowledgement and instruction. Having had this experience, I initially laid a smaller tip on the counter for the drinks. I then watched the bartender gripe to someone seated at that bar about the size or the tip and throw the money in a pissed off way into his bucket. The food came out and the bartender brought it over to us. He acted a bit more attentive and as I left, I left more money on the counter. The griping to a fellow patron along with not being acknowledged deserves the lesser tip. However, I will say the pizza was excellent and I would definitely order it again....only TO GO. read more

Great place. Get the pizza and enjoy it. It is nothing like the chains. So much better. The staff is always very friendly.

Map Room is a great neighborhood bar that is fun for watching a game, grabbing drinks after work, or your last stop on a bar crawl. A great location nestled in the heart of major bar areas, The Flats & W 6th, makes it a natural meeting place for friends. You can always expect Map Room to be buzzing on Friday & Saturday nights. It is a Cleveland favorite (and makes my top five favorite CLE bars) with a full selection of beer and bar food. The pizza is greasy and wonderful after a full night of drinking... and good enough that you would also enjoy it sober. You can expect other bar favorites like wings and tots on their menu. Stop in for a drink at this staple bar! read more

Best pizza on this side of downtown. My favorite time to go is during the week just because it can get kind of crazy during the weekend. My favorite part about this bar is the piano. The workers are really friendly and nice and it's not a fake friendly either. I can't speak on any other dishes they have because I believe if it's not broke don't fix it. So I can vouch for the BBQ large pizza because that's the only thing I get lol read more

When the great pizza chefs go to bed at night, they dream of making pizza like Maproom late night pizza. Lucali, Pequod's, and John's of Bleecker all dream of making this type of fine, crisply deliciously-crusted pizza. The pizza is perfectly cooked, the crust is delicious, and just the right amount of toppings are added consistently. When you add this to the the extremely swanky but welcoming atmosphere that map room offers, you honestly can't compete. read more
