The worst dealer ever! I would give out zero star! I had a car accident recently and my car was totaled. I was looking for used car and found a used car (2007 Honda Pilot) from Gillespie Ford. The sales person who sold us that car told us the car has clean report and no mechanical problems. We also questioned why the car has engine light on, and he told us it's just the indicator isn't right, the mechanic team just finished the checkup on the car and no issues. So we made the purchase. In 3 weeks, we received a letter from DMV requesting emission test. The emissions test failed. So we took it to the body shop, and the repair estimate is $1845 in order to pass the emissions test. On top of it, the body shop told us the car's engine has problems and requesting $200 for engine checkup fee. We don't want to spend extra money on such an old car, but without passing emission test, we can't get the license plate and registration thus can't use the car. I own a 2015 Mustang with 6k miles. My car had been sitting under the cover for the winter, weather was nice and streets were clean, I'm very paticular and my vehicles are extremely well kept. so I took my car up to Gillespie for the first time for a routine oil change. As I stood at the entrance to the garage, they had a very large worker get try to get his large body into my leather Recaro racing seats, were in the midst of covid, he wasn't wearing a mask or gloves, they didn't cover my seats or steering wheel. Oil change took almost an hour, when they finally brought the car around, they left greasy fingerprints on my hood and inside on the door panel. This really ticked me off that , this dealer had NO REGARD for my property! They will NEVER TOUCH MY CAR AGAIN! read more

I have had many many issues with the service dept in the past but credit where it's due they actually have changed staff now. They are all wonderful but Kristy is exceptional, out of this world! She delivered some costly news and to say I wasn't happy is an understatement but she speaks with empathy and explains what needs done. The car was not ready on time though she did call to explain this, she advised to keep the car to repair the issues and would have it turned around early AM which she did. Horrible place to get a vehicle. I went in to test drive for what was supposed to be a 20 minute express appointment and I was there for about 3 hours. I had to tell them multiple times that I had not decided to buy that day before they finally stopped pushing bad offers on me. And then I had a manger literally following me out the door. They will not honor the prices they display online and will tell you that you don't qualify for any incentives or discounts without giving you any reason why. They told me they would do a "soft pull" on my credit and that it would not show up or impact my credit score and they LIED. I got an email from them about a special sale and when I showed it to the girl helping us she had no idea what it was. There is no honesty whatsoever at this dealership. I ended up purchasing my vehicle at a different Ford dealership closer to Chicago and the drive was DEFINITELY worth it. I do not even recommend test driving here. I wish I could give them 0 stars. My husband and I were searching for a truck. Just to check we went to a ford dealership. Neither one of us have ever owned a ford and so far we are pretty impressed. However, the service there was not necessarily up to par. I used a co-signer from another state, and because of that they were making things very difficult. At one point, they were trying to make me fake job to accommodate for their system. What I would have rather had happen is them just tell me it may be harder to have a co-signer in another state and suggest something else. Aside from getting things signed, we had some maintenance done there. My husband was told he would have a car to drive off the lot while they did the work. When he drove all the way there, they informed him they did not have a car and to come back in a week. That was mildly irritating, as we are trying to move and had planned accordingly. Overall, I would not go back there. I do not remember the man that sold us the truck, but he was polite. However, I did not get great vibes from all the Sales Man. Update on the truck: it's a piece of shit. We keep up on the maintenance. For being a 2013 it sure has a lot of issues though. We've already had to replace the transfer case and the air conditioning compressor. And come to find out the transfer case had already been replaced once, with a used part and missing bolts. So I can tell they really don't check over these vehicles. Even more reason to NEVER shop this ford dealership. Or ford at all really. read more

I've had an absolutely terrible experience with Gillespie Ford. I bought my car at Gurnee Ford (prior management) in 2012 and had a great experience then. However, under new management, the customer service is not up to par. I scheduled service for a specific reason and was told after 30 minutes that the repair they attempted was unsuccessful because I had a leak -- which was what I had originally told them when I scheduled the appointment and again when I arrived on site. They then proceeded to fix the leak. A few hours later, I had to get towed back to the dealership because they hadn't plugged in a part which caused my car to break down. Per consultation with another mechanic, I'm lucky that it broke in a parking lot and not on the highway as the part that was left unplugged can cause significant damage and danger when driving at high speeds. At the advice of my bank, I disputed the charges for the original service as it was not up to the service standard that was expected. And now I'm getting angry phone calls from the dealership telling me that I have no right to be angry or upset (or dispute the charge) because they ultimately fixed it. Yes - they fixed it AFTER they broke it and after several hours of my time following up. All I was looking for when the issue originally happened was an apology and some form of compensation for the time, stress, and danger that I was put in as a result of the original service and I would have been a happy customer. Instead, I get told that I am wrong and they they did me a favor by 'fixing' their mistake for free. read more

A dana c. from gillespie responded, "....respect and delivery of high quality customer service......if customers are not comfortable coming into the dealership or it is not convenient for them, we will work with them....". These statements are false, as gillespie refused to negotiate as I would not come into the dealership. I would have easily settled on $36,500 to $37,000! Gillespie service department is awful. I dropped my truck off on Friday morning for a simple oil change (which I had made an appointment for) all day Friday no call. I called at 545 pm and a lady told me the work order said working. They finally called me at 245 on Saturday to tell me it was done and I had to pick it up by 4. I asked them to look at my sunroof and they told me $3900. You take your vehicle back to a dealership expecting quality service and customer service. These guys are slimy and untrustworthy. Went to this dealership Saturday afternoon and asked to see a used truck. Two salesmen Pete and Joe were just finishing up with some customers so I said we would wait to see it. Asked if it was in the same price range and they assured me it was. We took it for a test drive and that's all we needed, where do I sign. Pete was very attentive to us and answered all our concerns. Joe was getting the truck lined up for service. George, the finance man, we met was very personal and detailed on everything we needed money wise to close the deal. They all went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. The service we receive was no pressure, no double talk, just the straight facts. I was called by one of the sales people at Gillespie Ford named Lee. He told me that a Ford Maverick was in stock. He also told me that the MSRP window sticker price was $24,000. I made an almost 2 hour drive into the shop the very next morning only to find that this dealership was marking this truck up an extra $10,000. The truck only retails for $20,000 but yet they wanted to mark it up an extra $10,000. That is price gouging. I have reported this dealer to Ford motor company because that is ridiculous. I will also be reporting them to the state of Illinois for false advertisement sending me the price of the vehicle and then raising the price $10,000.They think nothing of their customers to do a bait and switch like that and have someone drive that far only to try and steal an extra $10,000 from them. Bought a brand new Mustang GT this year. No issues with the car, love it and the brand actually. The finance manager "included" a $1000 option for a useless warranty without informing me and slipped it past me. Yes, I should have read the contract, no they should not be scamming people. Salesman called and asked me to provide a positive review after I left a negative one and promised to have the issue looked into. In reality, it was a survey asking if they addressed my concerns after I left an initial negative survey, so that was a lie too. We had an excellent experience purchasing a used car (2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen 1.8T Limited Edition) from Gillespie Ford. All of their staff were professional, courteous, and accommodating. The facility was very nice. Our sales consultant, Steve Coro, was great to work with, as was the Finance Manager, Shane Adams. Unlike many competitor dealers, the price of the vehicle actually reflected its fair market value, indicating to us that they are playing it smart. Gillespie is nearly 300 miles from where we live, but we can honestly say that the experience was well worth our time and expense. Given the distance and the variability of the used car market, it is perhaps unlikely that we'll return to buy another car from the dealership. I realized that when when I moved from San Diego to Illinois that USA did not put a rental car on my insurance so I had to pay out-of-pocket for a rental car for a week. I stopped into Gillespie Ford and told them that I have searched everywhere for a vehicle and trying to see if they can give me a better price. Evelyn went out of her way to get me a loaner car so that I didn't have to pay out-of-pocket. They didn't exactly have the car there but traded with another dealership to get me the car I wanted. They worked with me since I was a loyal customer and told them to not let me down. Chris and Evelyn did everything in their power and I walked away with exactly what I wanted. I actually have a background working in a working in the car business so usually I have empathy for the guys that are working in the same business business that I have worked in. I just wanted to ask if I can get a pharaoh I can get a fair amount for my trade so that I could be in a better situation to finance the $40000 challenger challenger but I wanted to purchase that night. Steve answered the phone and told me that he is a manager And promise me that he would help me get the maximum amount of money for my trade Which would be more than the usual wholesale trade and value that dealers usually offer 2 customers. I was Really shocked when I received the trade in value that the used car manager offered me offered me for my Mustang GT. They offered me $5000 what they did with Theis that with the crooked Deceptive techniques with they thought would work on me even though I told them I have a lot of experience in the car business. So the sales person Steve or wanna be manager Tells me that my cash difference Also includes an extra $2000 for some kind of wax protection package that they add on to the sale of every car is L of every car for every customer And then he also explained to me that there is a $1200 charge for a for preparation of of the use vehicle. So not only did he offered me a low trade amount but he also tried to add $3200 to the Internet sale price of the Dodge Challenger that I went to purchase. The Salesman Steve Went on to try to explain to me that the online price is just to deceive people and customers so that they can come in and visit the dealership and once they are there they have to add the $3200 worth of fees otherwise they would make no money in the car business because of the Internet not and how the dealers compete with each other. This man had the audacity to offer me this Deceptive false advertising also advertising over pricing pricing technique And then ask me to come back to his desk after I walked away in disgust. All I can say is this if you are considering purchasing a car tonibut you're seeing a car do not go to this dealership because you will probably have a worse experience since I told them I have experience in the car business and they still had the audacity to try these deceptive techniques in selling me the car. Please don't deal with this place you will regret it I promise ! Here is one of my three bad experiences with this dealership. Four weeks ago I called and explained my exploere with only 18,000 miles on it would not start. I asked if I brought it in could I please get a loaner? I explained my wife was going through cancer treatment daily and I could not be without a car for even one day. I explained that I had purchased a service contract from Gillespie that states it would pay for a rental during covered repair. I was told they would need 24-48 hours to diagnose the problem at that point maybe they could help me with either a loaner or rental. I hung up the phone and called Kunes ford in Antioch. Without hesitation was told to bring it in and they would give me a loaner. I did and my explorer was repaired within one day no charge warranty work. The next day I went to Gillespie and canceled my service contract at that point I was told it could take as long as four weeks to refund the unused portion of the contract. Its now been four weeks and when I inquired about my refund I was told the cancellation has been processed and they are now waiting for payment from AAGI it should come in next week! Then they will pay me. It's very hard for me to believe in this day and age Gillespie and there contractors don't exchange money electronically in minutes. Please Please don't buy from Gillespie!! John To be fair I must update. After my contact with Chris the Finance Manager yesterday I received a partial refund today for the service contract I canceled. Thanks to Chris for that. However I still say please stay away from this place you will regret it! The service dept at Gillespie Ford lied to me over and over again for no reason. I had a 7am appointment on a Monday to fix multiple recalls that had been made on my truck. I dropped it off there the Saturday before so they could get started on it right away on Monday morning so I could pick it up after work. Lie #1- I was told by the service dept that the recalls were "very straight forward and should only take us an hour or maybe a little longer." Once it hit 1030am and I had not heard anything I gave them a call to check in. Lie #2- "it looks like it's been dispatched and Chris has been working on it since this morning, can I have him call you back because he's not at the desk?" ( I hope he's not at the desk if he's supposedly working on vehicles) Once noon rolled around and I had not yet heard anything, I called again. Lie #3- "looks like Chris is on lunch. He should be back soon, but he's been working on it all morning. Can I have him call you back when he gets back?" Once 3pm rolled by and I still had not heard a call back from anyone I called again. This time I got a guy by the name of Mike on the phone. Lie #4- "yeah looks like Chris has been working on it for the last 2 hours should be done very soon. I'll probably be calling you back within the hour." Now, people at Ford, if you're reading this review take note. You've done a wonderful thing for Ford owners... you gave us the Ford pass app. IT HAS A GPS LOCATOR FOR YOUR VEHICLE ON IT! Nonetheless, when I received that call from Mike I was already pulling into the dealership because I was going to try to get someone to give me an answer in person. I WAS STANDING NEXT TO MY TRUCK OUT IN THE BACK PARKING LOT OF THE DEALER WHILE MIKE WAS TELLING ME THAT THEY HAD BEEN WORKING ON IT FOR THE LAST 2 HOURS. I left the dealer and opened my Ford pass app again at 4pm to see that they had finally moved my truck inside to work on it. At 630 I called again (they close at 7pm) to see if they were done with my truck. At this point Mike told me that it would be done that night, but after hours, so I would have to be late for work and pick it up at 7am the next morning. When I picked up my truck the check engine light was on! After doing a little investigation myself I found that the connection to the air intake was unplugged and left unplugged. (Weird that it was for some reason unplugged when all they did was replace the engine block cord. Not even sure why that had to be messed with.) Regardless, they lied to me over and over again for no reason and sadly, this is not the first time I've had an experience like this at Gillespie Ford. I love ford trucks. I recommend them to everyone. But I do not recommend every going to this specific Ford dealership for ANY of your Ford needs. read more

Do Not but a car from this place. We bought a used truck on 1/23/17 had a signed contract that night when we left. We had issues from the minute we pulled off lot with the truck. Contacted Steve and let him know said everything would be fixed. 45 days later we get a call stating our deal fell through but they got another finance company said it would take 10 minutes tops. So we go in and 40 minutes later they still having issues. At this point my husband wants ours big deposit back and tells these people keep the truck. They refused to issue us a check but wanted us to leave the truck and give us a promissory note to pay us later. We got in a heated argument with the salesman Steve and Sales manager Frank. Who was calling my husband a loud mouth. They tried to say we hadn't turned in everything requested which we had when the idiot sales manager came out to show us i was able to show we gave them everything but title was missing to finance company. That is their problem not ours. The very next day low and behold we had our financing go through with original finance company we were told fell through. They made promises to fix the truck and told us to make first payment with them. Finance company said no way only to us so we did. The dealer made payment to finance company as well without our permission and now want us to pay them back. So as they hold our truck hostage in the service department when we were supposed to be able to have it fixed and picked up today instead they put a hold on our truck per sales department so nothing fixed and nobody contacted us. The finance company told us all the dealer had to do was contact them for a refund.but nobody over there knows what they're doing. These people are idiots. I will post this everywhere so people know how horrible this place is. Rude obnoxious and complete as*es all around haven't had one competent person to deal with So we picked up the Truck today and found out they only did a wholesale inspection (was that because this truck was to be auctioned?) so even tho we were told it went through a vigorous inspection and all fluids were checked all tires checked hoses and so on. We thought it was weird when we seen oil life was at 60% and the tire sensor issue came up on our way home. Again we questioned whether there was an inspection again we were reassured there was. Well today we found out it was a simple inspection. Also our tire sensor that they swore was just because the psi was at minimum was our issue. Hmmm... my husband checked tires were not low. Oh and we were told our squeak was low steering fluid. Again is it not your job to make sure we drive off your lot safe??? Well let me just tell you we took the truck today and said we should not have any more issues with the tire pressure sensor fault but if we do we can always bring it back again so see for yourself. We were at dealer at 4:28pm by 5:29 look what happened i enclosed the picture. Guess what... NOT FIXED!!! We were also told they were gonna perma plate interior exterior did a small test on the interior seat yep that was not done either but i am paying for that through my loan. Not sure if exterior was done guess that will be the next test. I guess i will be contacting my finance company to see how to get it removed i should not have to pay for something that was not done. Service department is awful. They cannot fix a warranty problem that they acknowledge is warranty just because the technicians lack experience. Anything above an oil change, I warn to find a better service department/dealer. Basically, they suck. 5/17/16 update: I do appreciate the call from the owner, but the problem is that this is nearing two weeks. Your service department does not keep customers informed and your technician told me that he did not know how to fix the PCM problem on my Boss 302. That does not leave customers with any sense of confidence. As I said, we're almost two weeks into this. Your service manager and assistant service manager were standing right there and said nothing. No one asked me to leave my car there. That is a lie, as we talked about on the phone. At this point, I wouldn't trust your service department with my car. I was quite irritated, but still respectful when I left. When your managers said nothing, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Went into this dealership today with my husband to hopefully purchase a new mustang. After sitting with Ricky Elliston for almost two hours and working down the price, he finally got an "approval" on a price and shook our hands to "seal the deal" so to speak. We went outside to go check out our new mustang only for him to walk outside and tell us it was approved and then declined, which has never happened before. Hasn't happened because it doesn't happen. This guy did not even bother to contact an actual bank to get an approval. They wouldn't just decline something they already approved. Makes no sense. We felt so incredibly disrespected at this place, wasting two hours of our time with these people for absolutely nothing. How you just shake on a deal with someone like they're walking away with a new car is beside me. My husband was so disappointed and pissed off upon leaving this place, which is understandable given he put us under the impression we were approved and ready to go. Even shook on it and everything. I went to this dealership with some hesitation after reading reviews. But they had a truck I was really interested in and their prices seemed pretty reasonable. My sales girl Karla was great. I do believe they did what they could to get me financed and out the door happy. The customer service (friendliness) could use a little work from others at the dealership. But maybe it just seemed that way since the dealership I work at we are held to such high standards. I think what bothered me most was going through the motions I couldn't get a straight answer on financing or monthly payments. It was always "around this" or "around that" and once I actually got into finance I had a couple little surprises. With that being said, in all I got a pretty good price on a nice truck and I'd recommend people to Karla in the future. read more

I brought my car in for service a while ago. When I received my car, the car door was held open for me. Nice, right? Wrong, the next morning I went to get into my car and there was a huge dink in my trim on the driver door. I was leaving for a trip and unable to bring my car in for repair. Service told me, no problem, bring it in when you at your convenience and we will fix it. Wrong again, they said I left too much time in between my car getting damaged and I would have to pay for it. Spoke with the service manager, she simply shrugged her shoulders and said " it's Ford Gillespies policy" to let their promise to fix it expire. My experience in my last two visits left me never wanting to deal with them again. I do not recommend this dealership to anyone that does not want a damaged car. If I could give them a zero star, I would. And no thanks on the complimentary windshield washer fluid. I dumped it out. If I had seen it before I left, I would have thrown it back at them. read more

The company I work for has had me looking for a F-150 that they are going to purchase for me. I found a truck on their website that fit perfectly in the budget my company was looking for. I called and asked several questions about the truck and my trade in vehicle and they were very helpful at first. I set up an appointment to come in and see the truck the following day after work. I called right before i left work to double check the vehicle was there because the dealer ship was about an hour drive from me. They told me absolutely its in the parking lot and we will have it ready for you to test drive. I showed up to the dealership and the salesman i was dealing with tells me he has no idea why this truck is on the website because they have never had this truck in their inventory. Obviously I'm frustrated after hearing this because I was told 2 hours ago on the phone that the truck will be ready for me to drive as soon as i get there. But i figured i drove an hour out here so i might as well at least look and see what they have. I described exactly what I was looking for and he tells me that he has a truck in stock that is close to my budget and has everything i described. After waiting 30-40 minutes to get the offer for this truck he comes back with a truck that is $15,000 above my budget, it was a different color, and a different year then i was looking for. I left shortly after this so I can start my hour drive home. I'm not sure that anyone at this dealership will listen to a word you say because he was just completely ignoring everything I was looking for. The one other thing that really bugged me was, I showed them what I was offered for my trade in at a different ford dealership which was $1,500 higher then they offered me. His reply was "I know what other Ford's are allowed to offer and they didn't offer you that much for it." So to sum up this story Buss Ford in Gurnee WILL NOT match or beat other Ford dealerships offers on a New vehicle or a Trade in, they will call you a liar if they cannot beat your other offers, and you can not believe anything they tell you about their inventory. read more

I had an exceptional experience working with the service team. I was having problems with my tire had called 6 places. Luckily they are open a little later and Chris got me in right away and fixed my problem very efficiently. Car problems can be stressful and the process was seamless.
