Gigi has done a better job than other places I've been to in PDX, but the last time I went to see her my eyebrows were uneven. I've got huge Persian brows and so they really need tender care. Also (and perhaps most importantly since Gigi usually does a nice job) she asks too many personal questions (i.e. why I'm not having another baby). When I get my eyebrows done, I don't want anyone asking me sensitive questions. I also scored a half-off Google offer the very next day, so double score! I was getting totally wookie up above these precious peepers, and having never handed off the shaping of my brows to someone else, I was afraid of chola brows. But nay, I look gooood. It hurts -- it's like tweezing on steroids as Gigi said -- but my sensitive skin needs the all natural approach. $20 plus some tips is a bit more than I want to invest, but I think it'll be worth it in the end! I am so excited to have found Gigi! I'm from Atlanta, where there are tons of places to get your eyebrows threaded, but I couldn't find any convenient places when I moved to Portland, and my eyebrows were a mess. Gigi knew exactly how to shape my eyebrows. I'm very picky, and she really listened to how I wanted my brows to look. Gigi is my eyebrow hero!!! I moved to Portland a couple months ago from Los Angeles. In LA, it seems like the threading places are at every corner, like The Coffee Bean. There is a large selection of places to go. Well, after moving I quickly realized threading was not as common up here in P-Town. I tried out one place in Beaverton (will not say the name) lol, and it was TERRIBLE. The poor lady ruined my brows, so I yelped "eyebrow threading" and Gigi's came up. Hair removal without the use of any harsh chemicals! I'm extremely allergic to wax, as I'm sure most people are, and I absolutely love this method for removing any unwanted facial hair. Threading twists and pulls the hair out from the root so it grows back thinner every time! Due to my increased skin sensitivity, I was in search for facial hair removal without the usage of chemicals - based on recommendations of my personal friends, I sought Gigi's care. I went in with my friend yesterday, with no intention in having my own eyebrows done. I've been a bit unhappy with my eyebrows the last couple of days and have been interested in threading for a while now. While watching my friend get her eyebrows done (for the first time), Gigi asked if I would be interested to get mine done as well. Gigi threaded my brows last year and did a beautiful job and I completely forgot to leave her a review until now, right after leaving a review for my other eyebrow experience in Portland 6 weeks ago. I would give her a full 5 stars but I didn't like the fact that she started threading other areas of my face, like my lip and upper cheek area, and when I lightly protested, she proceeded anyway. Was recommended this place by my sister. Gigi is very nice and does a fantastic job. She really has an eye for people's eyebrows and tries to make sure that they look as similar as possible. I've found that she tries to accommodate to as many people as possible by being very efficient with her time and getting straight to business. Because of her efficiency, she typically makes room to squeeze people in and I've almost always been able to get the time I want. Since she is so busy though, I'd recommend walking in or calling to make an appointment because she doesn't seem like she takes walk-ins too often. Gigi is awesome. Very talented at what she does, patient and kind. She's well educated, too. Has several degrees on her wall! I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to any type of hair removal, but she deals well with my whimpering. My skin breaks out a little from the threading, but nowhere close to as bad as waxing. I just have ultra sensitive skin. It's worth it, I promise. I'd rather have a few bumps than a freaking girlstache! I don't love the lack of privacy from the room to the waiting area, but I'm still keeping this at 5 stars because I wouldn't go to anyone else if given the choice. The moment I walked in, she greeted me by name with a very pleasant tone as she was finishing up with another client. Very skilled at conversation while simultaneously perfecting your brows. I've always been afraid to have my brows done, because I was afraid I'd come out looking like I'm in a state of perpetual surprise. But I'm at a point in my life where I want to look just a little more polished, so I looked for waxing services on Yelp. I'm glad I stumbled on Gigi and threading instead. Gigi is warm, professional, down-to-earth and very skilled at what she does. I told her that I want to look natural, but better, and she knew exactly what to do. Threading was easy compared to what waxing and tweezing would have been, but it does sting a little in the more sensitive spots, and just for a second. Then it's over and you look great. I'm surprised by how a subtle change (she stayed true to my natural brow shape) can make a BIG difference in my appearance. And I'm sure someone who wanted something more glamorous would get exactly what they wanted, too. The studio is a small, comfy room on the second floor of an old Craftsman home on NW 23rd. The room is bright with natural light and is in the back, away from the hustle and bustle of the street. There's a gorgeous sari draped along the ceiling for you to look at if you want to think about something other than hair removal. Since this was my first appointment, Gigi took the time to explain everything and do a thorough job of it. It felt totally natural when she hugged me on my way out the door! I was afraid that a salon would take me in with my thick brows and send me out with teeny tiny rainbow brows. I explained to Gigi that I want to still look like me when I walk out. She was GREAT -- funny, warm, down-to-earth, fast, etc. She also suggested that I get my upper lip and chin threaded, so I did it. Thanks to Gigi, I don't know if I'll ever go back to waxing. She makes it look so simple, but the finished product is amazing! I'm pretty particular (like most women I assume)on how I want my eyebrows and she did a great job! Not a stray hair to be found (unlike my experiences with waxing) and they turned out exactly how I wanted. There's a clean edge to threading that you can't get with waxing. She shaped them wonderfully by emphasizing my arch without it being too angular or too "natural". Also, I don't have much hair on my upper lip and I never wanted to wax it because that's a really sensitive area for me, but I figured I'd give it a shot with threading. Man! One word: Amazing! My skin is pretty sensitive to waxing so I got my eyebrows and upper lip threaded by Gigi today. She really takes her time and makes sure you are happy with her work before you leave. Before she started she had me hold the mirror and went over what she was going to do just to make sure we were on the same page. This was my first threading experience and I am thoroughly impressed! Safe to say I will never wax my sensitive little eyebrows again. Some people might say it's pricey but I feel like it's totally worth it. I went here for the first time last Friday and this is the only place I will go to get my brows done from now on! Gigi is very sweet and I like the homey feel of the place and the service overall. She was able to fit me in the very next day. I have done threading a few times before, but this was my first time trying it on my lip. It was a little painful, but about the same as waxing. I normally break out pretty bad when I wax this area and I broke out less than I normally do this time. This woman is solid as far as talent goes. Her work is strong. Her prices are higher than the other 2 places in the metro area I've been to (Silk & Stone, Tara Lee), I suspect that is due to her NW location, and she requires cash only. For some reason that makes me a little uncomfortable, although as I learn more about small businesses, I can appreciate why cash payments are preferred, but for someone who doesn't carry much cash it's a hassle. Also it's a pain to get on her schedule. Typically requires a week or more in advance and then she'll ask me during my appt to schedule my next appointment. I don't like that, but I'm sure there are people for whom that works great. She can't handle walk-ins, which makes sense because she's a one-person business, but for those of us coming from bigger cities used to being able to walk-in for threading appts, it's important to know. read more

I went to Gigi's today.....She does wonders for your facial "peach fuzz".....She has a technique called 'threading' that literally takes fine thread and runs it along your face removing all the fine hair that is on your lip, side cheeks and eyebrows. She will also shape your brows! This is such a great alternative to waxing. If you are allergic to wax, or just don't like the pain, I highly recommend this treatment.
