Went to the Division Location to get my eyebrows and lip done. I had never been to Sugar Me before and had only ever gotten waxed before. The woman who helped me was very nice and made me feel comfortable. I told her I liked the thickness and overall shape of my eyebrows and just wanted to tidy them up. Unfortunately, I did not like the outcome of my brows. She thinned them down and I left still with hair in between my eyebrows. No one wants to leave with totally different eyebrows than they wanted. My take away is that if you've never tried "sugaring"- just stick with waxing. Ive had better experiences at other waxing locations and will continue to go back to them after my eyebrows grow back (lol). read more

I appreciate a cancellation policy when it makes sense and is used fairly. In my recent instance a new appointment time was posted and I booked 25hrs out, then realized I wouldn't make it so attempted to call about 23hrs out, but was still charged late cancellation. I don't know why I ever stopped coming here, it's almost like a luxury but the same cost as waxing! It's super gentle and feels almost like a bandaid getting ripped of, but you leave without feeling a burning stingy feeling or puffy and red! I'd give the overall experience a solid 3.5 stars. It was my first sugaring experience (did Brazilian) and I liked the waxing experience overall. My waxer was sweet and walked me through what to expect. I agree that the flicking hurts less than when wax is ripped off, but the application hurts more so I wonder if it's a neutral pain experience. lol My skin was less irritated after, but today (one day post wax), I have peeling on my labia. That's a little odd since the wax is room temperature. The salon itself is nice, but not particularly warm/cozy. And the fact that the walls aren't closed at the top means you can hear everyone else's conversations, and not your own. They don't offer treats like other waxing places in town as part of your experience but the price is the same. The service takes longer, and the products they use during the process are natural so I liked that. I'll probably try it again, but might try a different spot. read more

Having come from a magnificent studio I'd be part visiting for six years in Seattle, I was worried about finding a new place in Portland for all my hair removal needs. Now that I've been in Portland just about three years and have visited two sugaring studios, I have to say that this is my favorite for its location (free parking is muy bueno) and Tray and Courtney. Between the therapy session feel of getting to see them and the excellent hair removal I've received over the years (along with the stellar prices; Seattle was not as competitive with waxing), I've turned into a sugaring addict, not to mention that Kate keeps the space so freaking cute, it's like walking into a fun boutique that I wished sold swimwear... or at least a wide range of lingerie. A few points to define though. First, no, all hair removal hurts, so this won't hurt less than a regular waxing brazilian, but if you're like me, your skin will not decide that it's being bombed and attempt to resemble the Stay Puft man from Ghostbusters after, so that's already a huge improvement from waxing. Taking a couple advil or aspirin before are enough to dull the sensation to a point where I don't notice it at all. Second, I feel like this is far more sanitary than waxing--I understand all estheticians should adhere to strict sanitation standards, but you can't reuse a ball of sugar nor double dip, so any chance of that is nil. Third, this is the oldest form of hair removal. The Egyptians were onto something and I wholeheartedly have embraced it so I can have the smooth legs, arms, and nether regions I so desire. I've seen Greer Kukak now twice, and she is incredible: quietly confident and calm with a steady yet gentle touch (she also does facials, which I can't wait to try!!!). Getting sugared is nothing like getting waxed. I'm talking eyebrows here, so we're not talking about great pain, but there is NO pain with sugaring. It's incredible! The first thing I read on Sugar Me's Yelp review was that it didn't hurt. And so right then and there I called and made an appointment. I've been getting waxing for years and am quite used to the pain. My hair was a bit longer than I usually keep it but since it "doesn't hurt" I figured it'd be worth the shot. Well actually, it does hurt. I thought it hurt more than waxing actually. But the thing is, I'm going to go back and try it again. Why? They were really nice. Additionally though, I liked it there! Sugar Me is great! I made an appointment online, and since I was unsure exactly where it was I got there about 30 minutes early. They were able to see me almost immediately which was great, and I ended up getting my brows done by Kate. She's wonderful, very professional and will totally put you at ease. We did a brow design, and I told her what I like, and then she gave me some helpful tips, and when she was done they were perfect. I'm normally all about waxing, and using hard wax at that, but I really like the sugar wax. Warm but not overly hot. It was actually soothing, and my skin didn't look inflamed after. Definitely give them a try! They also have a cool punch card thing, with 5 brow waxes and get the next one free. And I got a free lip balm that smells delish. I will be going back soon! Sugar Me is in my neighborhood and so I decided to give it a try. Kate is the kind of person who makes you feel comfortable and well taken care of despite the very obvious awkwardness of having a complete and total heterosexual stranger stare at and remove hair from my nether regions. She's adorable and has great bedside manner. I suggested she start an OB/GYN waxing store so that you can just run in there for an annual AND a bikini wax. Ok and here is the best part (other than that the shop is adorable and Kate is adorable and the punch card): July is free panties with a bikini wax month. I am not kidding. After seeing alllllllll the good reviews for this place, I finally decided to try it out awhile ago. Unfortunately, didn't have a great experience and haven't been back since. The place was freezing cold, stood around waiting for awhile while listening to the staff chat to each other (with no acknowledgement I was standing there). I had heard a lot of good things about sugaring, but my experience didn't line up. It took forever. It hurt. I ended up with lots of red bumps all over, which is strange for me since I've never even had a reaction to waxing. Did I say it took FOREVER? Ugh. I probably won't go back, and wouldn't recommend to others. ****Shortly after writing this review, the owner of the studio contacted me. She genuinely felt bad about my experience, and has taken steps to remedy it. All the reviews had me wanting to try this place. I have to agree that the staff is extremely nice. The decor is lovely. But I doubt I'll be going back. I've been waxing for years and while the benefits of sugaring are appealing, the pain was just way too much. My legs were read and stung for over an hour afterward. That usually doesn't happen to me with waxing. I actually think that waxing doesn't hurt all that much. The pain I expereinced is enough to keep me away. While staff and decor is nice, I have to say that I did not like that the rooms do not have full walls. I found it very uncomfortable to listen to the conversation between the client and the staff member in the next room as well as at the reception desk. I suggest trying it for yourself. read more

I love that they have an online booking system. It's a dream come true for a shy lady such as myself. I'd never tried sugaring before, but after reading rave reviews on Yelp and finding out that their prices were comparable to traditional waxing, I was sold. I booked Kate for an eyebrow sugaring. She did an amazing job in very little time, and she's really nice as well! The pain factor during the sugaring was a little less than waxing, which I was pleasantly surprised at. The difference in pain afterwards was phenomenal. My skin is ridiculously sensitive, and I'm usually uncomfortably swollen and red after a wax. Not the case with sugaring. Of course it wasn't completely pain-free, but I did barely notice the pain, and the pain stopped about a half hour afterwards. I will definitely be back. read more

So I don't live in Portland but was recently up there visiting some old friends and apparently for this day, playing chauffeur as well. My friend had mentioned she wanted to try this place out as they heard it was a great alternative to waxing. By the end of her visit she could not stop raving about how amazing the treatment was and how completely awesome Katie (the owner) is. The shop is apparently pretty new but Katie's professionalism with everyone there was impressive and even in my brief conversation with her I could tell she really enjoys and loves her work. Even though I didn't get any work done there, my visit left enough of a good impression on me to make sure I put in some good words for Sugar Me on yelp. Oh my science, I can't say enough how much I love this shop. I went in today for my first brazilian at Sugar Me with miss Kate. She was so friendly and adorable and immediately made me feel at home. The service was fast and the pain was very mild. I got a Brazilian and a lash tint, which is what I used to get on the regular back before Covid hit. I had never been to this salon but since it's closer to me than my usual place, figured it was worth a shot. The Lash Tint: this stung a bit more than I remember and was very messy. She let me wipe my eyes immediately after the tint, but because I was sugared afterwards, more of the dye came off and around my eye. By time I got home, I had raccoon eye stains that took forever to get rid of. The Brazillian: I hadn't been sugared in a while so I was expecting some pain...this was the most painful session I've ever experience (including the times I've been waxed and a misguided epilating attempt at home). The wax seemed to be too warm/sticky and the movements were clumsy, which meant PAIN, even in the application. I was literally shaking by the end of it. When I got home, I discovered patches of hair that hadn't been taken (not just the stray hair here and there you'd expect after a first session). Serves me right for straying from my usual place, I guess. read more

For those, like me, who have only ever done waxing before - I highly recommend giving sugaring a try. Been to see both Kate and Tray a couple times. Love this place. Now that I've been sugared, I'll never go back to waxing. It is both faster and less painful than waxing. If I am just going in for a bikini, I am usually in and out in less than 10 minutes. However, if you do arrive early, there are plenty of cute things to look at or treat yourself to in the boutique.
