The staff are nice enough, but their policies are not customer-centric, they are entirely salon/specialist centric. Life happens, and I need to work with people who understand that accidents like missing or asking for a later appointment time can happen once in awhile. I also do not believe in their pricing structure. I got the same procedure done for literally $25 less than what they charge. I couldn't believe I had been over-paying so much. read more

Extremely thorough underarm waxes that I get here. The aesthetician really got every little hair and thoroughly checked afterwards and made me feel comfortable, which is extremely important. I think this is a stellar location for a true waxing experience that is professional. read more

Tessa is my girl! I can't say enough good things about her. I'm new to Brazilian waxes but she makes it so painless and easy while having a nice chat. And you feel great for months. Highly recommend read more

As a "virgin" to getting sugared, I had a great experience with Taylor. Friendly atmosphere, clean, welcoming. I highly recommend this place, especially if it's a new experience for you. read more

This sugaring studio is truly a gem in the Sellwood area. The studio is welcoming & warm upon entry and I felt safe seeing the precautions they were taking due to COVID-19. My facial today was with Collyn. When it was time for appointment Collyn let me into the studio and took my temperature. Once that was clear I was led to a room and given an outline of what the facial process is like - Collyn did a great job to explain the process and answer my questions. The facial experience felt luxe and you could feel that the product being used was high quality. Something I really enjoyed was that without being overbearing, Collyn made sure to quickly let me know what each product was before putting it on my skin. It made me feel taken care of without being pulled out of the relaxation. Collyn really made me feel well cared for and I cannot wait to come back for another facial in the future. read more

Absolutely love Sugar Sugar and all the wonderful ladies that work here! I was an avid waxer but found Sugar Sugar when I moved to the Sellwood area. I was curious about sugaring and decided to give it a try and I have never looked back. The sugaring experience is a little different from waxing but I've found it to be much less irritating and I feel like it keeps me smoother longer. During my first appointment they walked me through how sugaring was different from waxing and what to expect. Abby has created an amazing atmosphere here, she is very kind and welcoming along with all the great estheticians here. I've gotten sugared by several people and have always had a really wonderful experience. The space and rooms are always clean and have a very warm and welcoming vibe. Shout out to Taylor for being my go to esthetician she's awesome, but all the staff here are great! If you are on the fence about trying sugaring don't be! Here's your sign to make an appointment at Sugar Sugar and try it out! read more

Enjoyed (?) haha But experience was a pleasant as possible. Lovely salon. Very relaxing space. Clean. Covid protocols in place. read more

This is a beautiful studio and I was extremely impressed with Collyn when I went to see her in April for underarm sugaring. She had the magic touch and a very pleasant, gentle manner in her demeanor and behavior. She was also very sweet and professional! What more could you ask for? I went there again recently and saw a different esthetician whose treatment was painful at first and when I told her so, she began to try to rationalize why I might be the cause - rather than immediately taking responsibility and changing her technique. Even the owner had trouble 'owning up' and spent some time making bizarre excuses ('She likes to educate!') and trying to convince me of her good intentions. Not sure what intentions have to do with someone ripping hair off of your armpit - either they have a gentle touch or they don't. Ouch! Sadly, accountability, responsibility and maturity are sometimes strangers here in Portland, especially in the beauty/massage industry. Go see Collyn - a real pro with hands of gold! read more

I've only been waxed once years ago. I heard about sugaring and wanted to try it out. Tessa greeted me at the front and had me fill out info to get to know me more. When we went in the room, she explained how sugaring was different, showed me what the sugar looked like, and walked me through what she was doing. She asked clarifying questions about what areas I wanted as she went along. Her technique kept the sharp quick pain to a minimum. She worked quick too and it didn't take as long as when I got waxed before. I already booked my return visit so I can maintain the removal that I prefer. Thank you Tessa! read more

Let's face it: no one wants to be waxed by a person JUST starting out in the business. After a few terrible (alcohol worthy) waxes from more popular locations in SE PDX, I was relieved to find the experts here at Sugar Sugar! As painless as possible, straight forward, and mature as a sugaring joint could be, this establishment is exceptional. If you are new to sugaring or looking to break away from an establishment that leaves you raw while streaming tears down your face, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. Thanks Tessa! read more

This was my first visit to Sugar Sugar and my first time having sugaring done. I arrived to the front door and it was locked with a sign explaining the entry process. My temp was taken and I was asked to sanitize my hands. I did not notice any other people in the space. Taylor opened the door for me and sanitized as we moved along to the treatment room. I felt very good about the Covid precautions being taken. Had my treatment done by Taylor who was super knowledgeable and explained everything to me. She was talkative (in the best way possible) and inquisitive. I left super happy with my results and I am a wee bit picky. I definitely preferred this over normal waxing and I will for sure be back. Thank you Taylor! read more

I've been here twice now, once for Brows done by Abbie, and once for a facial done by Taylor. The place is super cute, easy to find and very welcoming. The staff is super kind and accommodating. Brow visit: It was my first time doing sugaring instead of waxing and I will never go back to waxing. Abbie explained everything and it was quick, painless and way more comfortable than wax. My brows looks awesome! Facial visit: again, the room was adorable and so cozy! A shoulder/calf/foot massage was a nice addition to the facial! My skin feels so refreshed! The pumpkin mask was phenomenal! Thanks ladies!! read more

I've been here twice over the last 6 weeks, both times getting a Brazilian maintenance with Devon and I honestly couldn't be happier with my sugaring results. I was that person who was terrified of getting a Brazilian due to pain and the uncomfortableness of having someone down south, but getting over that fear and just doing it has been one of the best decisions! Plus, I'm pregnant so having someone else maintenance down there for me is easier! Devon is extremely personable with conversation, and makes you feel comfortable while your sugaring is going on. Great bed side manner, professional. She works at a great pace and is super thorough with getting every piece of hair gone that shouldn't be there! I honestly wouldn't go to anyone else after my last two experiences with her. I leave happy with my results and clean (free of sticking sugar) which is always nice. :) On top of that, the facility is relaxing, clean, and has cute decor. This place deserves 5 stars read more

I'll never wax again after sugaring! Taylor was fast, efficient, comfortable to talk to, and assertive in her technique, which I appreciate so much. Oh, and it felt incredibly soothing going on the skin, no pulling or tugging whatsoever! I'm an esthetician and have waxed my own bikini (yes, why would anyone do that to themselves?!), but after this blissful experience I will only EVER do sugaring! It seems like a no brainer when comparing the two: Waxing cons: Painful Sticky Lengthy process Expensive! Sugaring pros: Waaay less painful, just slightly uncomfortable between the cheeks, but everywhere else is a breeze!! And bonus: less expensive than waxing across the board!! $50 with tip vs $75 elsewhere for waxing. Again... why even question it? This is a MUST for any hair removal. read more

I LOVE Sugar Sugar. I have been seeing Abbie now for a couple of years and I have nothing but good things to say. The studio is welcoming and safe. Their COVID-19 precautions are top-notch. I waited outside until Abbie opened the door for me. She took my temperature and I went and washed my hands immediately. Everyone wore a mask and I felt incredibly safe. Sugaring has also been less painful for me than waxing. I've never been burnt and the process is quick and easy. I would recommend Abbie and Sugar Sugar in a heartbeat. read more

I had a Brazilian wax done today at Sugar Sugar and have nothing but good things to say. It was nearly painless-- Abbie Gibson did an amazing job! She made me feel very comfortable even at 38 weeks pregnant. I would recommend this place to anyone. Very clean and taking covid precautions as well. read more

I had gotten my eyebrows sugared before at a different salon. My skin definitely responds better to sugaring. I wanted to get my lady area pampered but I had never gotten one before. I found Sugar Sugar and the owner emailed me personally with answers to my many questions. Taylor helped me with my very first Brazilian sugaring and made me feel so welcome! She and I just chatted while I gave her full trust in what shape/size would fit my needs. I couldn't be happier! My skin was so soft and barely even had any redness or irritation at all after! My new go to pamper place! Happy hoo-ha read more

Collyn did an amazing job! She has great attention for detail and is gentle and sweet as well. I would definitely recommend sugaring over wax, especially with Collyn. Also the studio space is really cute and I wish I could spend all day there. read more

I just got my lashes tinted/lifted by Taylor and let me tell you the whole experience was amazing! It was my first time so I was pretty nervous but she made me feel so relaxed and at ease. We had a great conversation and the hour went by so fast it felt only like 20 minutes. She constantly checked in on me and made sure I was comfortable. It was such a smooth process, I can't recommend this place enough. I will definitely be booking with Taylor again, my lashes look stunning!! I never write reviews but the experience was so great I wanted to give her a shout out. Thank you so much!! read more

I have sensitive skin and was searching for the best hair removal option before my wedding that wouldn't leave me red, bumpy and itchy. I've only ever had hard wax done on my brows, and shaved everything else. I decided to try out sugaring for my bikini area and brows. I'm so thrilled that I did! Taylor was wonderful to work with, she made me feel immediately comfortable. She kept me informed along the way, chatted with me the whole time, and worked very quickly! There are only a few very small areas on my bikini that were sensitive the day after, which I feel like you have to expect when doing hair removal in that area. I imagine if I continue sugaring it will only get better. I'm definitely coming back before my wedding, and probably after that too! Oh, also the table I was on while being waxed was SO comfortable, and the space was super clean without feeling sterile. All in all a very surprisingly easy and comfortable experience! Thanks Taylor! read more

What an easy-breezy experience! NOT what I anticipated as I had a pretty bad waxing experience in the past. I had no idea what to expect so I went in a little nervous. Taylor was phenomenal! She put me at ease right away while she explained the process and kept me distracted the whole time. The process was quick, far less pain than waxing and I couldn't be happier with my results! Not to mention, this place is ADORABLE! It's really well decorated and is super cozy. Don't go anywhere else! read more

I have never been waxed anywhere on my body so I don't have a comparison to a traditional wax versus sugaring. What I do know is for my first time receiving a sugar treatment it was great! I booked an extended bikini with Tessa. She was really wonderful. She talked me through the process, sampled sections to get me comfortable, offered conversation to keep my mind off things, and in my opinion is trauma informed in her process. I have told friends about it and they found it to be more painful than I did but I also had a natural birth 6 months ago so I may be desensitized a bit :) booked my next session before I left and will continue to go for maintenance! The shop is clean, cute and quiet. They also offer a stamp card and refer a friend discounts. read more

I love this place. I especially love this place when Tessa is the one who does my Brazilian. Her touch is gentle and confident. She's smart, personable and doesn't force the small talk. These things are important to me when in the intimate space of hair removal or anytime really. You need look no further for your sugaring needs. If you want to be smooth I highly recommend this place! read more

Had a wonderful facial this weekend with Collyn. I loved the customization for my face. It was extremely relaxing and Collyn was also very easy to talk to. Great massage. I left with glowing skin. I'll be back! read more

I didn't think I'd like lash extensions as much as I did. Devon is thorough and they look so natural. I thought I wanted them off right away before I got used to them and she offered to come in on a holiday to help. read more

I just received my first Sugar Sugar service with Taylor, and it was legitimately the best Brazilian sugar/wax hair removal I've had in 10 years (!!!). I've had a history of hair breakage and some painful hair tugging, but I always thought it was due to my own hair and how it grew. At this visit, it was the least painful experience because Taylor took her time in application but was also quick in completing the service. Since we had a bit more time, Taylor was more than happy to fit in an additional underarm service. For the experience I received, the pricing is so reasonable. Wow, I'm still a little surprised at how quick and painless that was.... I'm going to say it, I may never go anywhere else. It really is all in the skill and technique. read more

First facial experience was 10/10. I was nervous about breaking out, especially since I was getting married 2 weeks later, but my experience was exceptional. I actually fell asleep during the facial as I was so relaxed! read more

I see Devon and she's fantastic. The compliments about my lashes are constant. They are thick but natural looking. People always ask if they're my own. read more

Sugaring studios are few and far between in PDX, this is why I was so happy when one opened in my hood of Sellwood. Jess did a great job. I waited a year in between visits and all things considered it was relatively painless. Unlike waxing, sugaring pulls in direction of hair growth, it's not hot like wax, but luke warm, and no strips. I find sugaring has less irritation, but more importantly it stumps my fur growth. Buy 7 maintenance within your 4-6 week growth period and 7th is free. Sold! read more

As a returning customer, I am upset with the service I received with my last service. Since I was 2 days outside of the 6 week mark (earliest appointment they had), they charged me for a full Brazilian even though they only spent the time it took for a maintenance (30 minutes). I understand they have policies and I respect that but if I am paying for a service then I need to get the FULL service. The extra time could have been spent on the sugaring process instead of ensuring we finish within 30 minutes, which we did. I do NOT think it's fair to charge someone for a service they did not receive and I will not be coming back. read more

Beautiful salon, beautiful people, and great work. It was my first time having any hair removal done and Tessa explained the process and what to expect. She made me feel very comfortable. Will definitely be back! read more

My mom gifted a sugaring prior to labor. This experience was absolutely the best. I expected for it to be painful and long but it was the complete opposite. read more

Abbie was great. She has a pretty studio, clean and bright. She was super thorough, taking more time and care than I'm used to getting and she was really easy and fun to talk to. She uses all natural products, which is so important. I loved the rosewater spray. My super sensitive skin wasn't even red afterward! My favorite thing is that she doesn't mind scheduling via text and I don't have to have a paypal account to get an appointment, unlike the other sugaring service in town. Some of us just like to do things the old fashioned way! read more

I got sugared for the first time yesterday and I am officially obsessed! I have a trip coming up and didn't want to have to deal with shaving or prickly hair growing back since I'll be in a bikini everyday. I sugared my full legs and my bikini line and couldn't be happier! The owner Abbie was my esthetician and she was the sweetest thing ever. She educated me on everything she was doing and answered any questions I had. For the most part the entire sugaring process was very comfortable and didn't even really hurt! This will definitely be my new thing before trips and all summer long, totally worth it! read more

Had a wonderful experience with Abbie. I had a last minute appointment and she made time for me. I needed my lip and a Brazilian sugared. I have really stubborn hair and in the past I've been sugared but hairs were left behind. Abbie was very thorough and was able to get rid of everything! It's been five days and I'm silky smooth! I'll never wax again! Abbie is down to earth, witty and had some great throwback tunes playing in the background. She is located in the heart is Sellwood, so it easy to step out and grab lunch or coffee, take a yoga class or shop a little and then hop in for a treatment. I'm definitely going to Abbie from here on out! read more
