Very nice candy shop at San Francisco. We didn't even plan to visit but we were talking about candy shop around San Francisco and found it. We came on the weekend and it was not that busy. The shop is not that big but full of candies. So many variant of candies. There are so many choices. If you are candy lover, this is a must visit place. it has sweet, sour, hard, soft, fruit flavor type of candy. The price is by weigh. If I am not mistaken you can mix and match for some. When you are in the store, you will feel like you are kid again. just make you you don't eat too much candy :-).

Friendly staff & amazing selection of candy--especially gummies!! Defo stop by if you're a chewy candy lover. This little store is so well stocked with all sorts of Swedish and other imported candy. We took our time looking through the individual selections they offer and never felt rushed. Love that we can get as many (or as little) pieces as we want, since it's self service. Perfect if you want to try everything!! They have so many fun flavor options--it's wonderful. Defo something for everyone. We stocked up on our favorites, grabbed a few pieces of everything we wanted to try, and happily left with a hefty bag for $33 (':

Awesome candy store with variety of gummies, licorice, marshmallow, and sours! There are premade bags or make your assortment and pay by weight. Staff was friendly when i asked for recommendations and sour scale! My bag came to $10, got one of many flavors to try - my favorites are the sour bottle fizz shaped ones!

This is a cute little candy shop with a variety of Swedish candy and more! I love how you're able to build your own bag - I got different flavors of Bubs, skulls and more. They have so much variety - they also have many vegan options too! The staff was very friendly - I will definitely be back!

We stumbled upon this place after eating and were excited to discover they have Swedish and other countries (e.g. Holland, UK, Spain) candies. It was a typical busy Saturday afternoon. It's really a small store so please be mindful of how crowded it can be. You pick up a tong and bag and go through all the different selections until you are done. You take it up to the counter where they will weigh it. You pay per lb. There were six of us and I paid $60 for all six bags. These are high quality candies and you can taste the natural flavors and sourness. Didn't have much interaction with the owner or the worker. Ofc, you will have to find street parking in Castro District to get to it.

Such a cute little store with great selection of candies! I got to try every single one i've wanted to try as i've seen them online and never found any other stores that sold them without buying bulk. However I was able to find them all here on top of some other new finds! Good price for the amount I got but you'll definitely find yourself getting a lot!

Walked in, greeted warmly by workers, and the shop itself was small and adorable! Parking can be inconvenient since it's on a busy main street but came on a Sunday afternoon and got lucky! Typical candy store experience: you get tongs, put candies of your choice in a bag from their varying selections, and pay by weight. Came here to try the viral Swedish candies and other kinds from countries like Spain, etc. I was being mindful of how much I was putting in my bag because you pay by weight but I ended up paying less than $10, which surprised me! Would come here again and try more sweets!

I found a new spot I plan to frequent!! I heard about this place for their Swedish Candy so I by and was treated by an expansive selection of all the classic Swedish candies as well as many other brands and types!! It was an easy process, you just pick any candy you like and put it in a bag to be weighed. And for being so amazing and having such an array of product, this place is extremely reasonably priced!! I really got a lot for what I paid.

    Assorted including Bubs!

I've been wanting to try Swedish candy like Bubs since I saw some videos earlier this year. Cue Giddy candy! They have a rotating selection of gummies including Bubs and it's fun because you create your own assortment. They also have pre-made bags if you'd prefer. Friendly service and always prefer to support local when possible. The Swedish candy gummies were unique, fresh and had good chew. Priced per pound. Lots to do in the nearby neighborhood as well. I will be back.

my girlfriend and i stumbled upon giddy while waiting for our friend at barrys the candy there was awesome, so many choices the ambiance was a walk in candy store with tongs and a scale to weigh the candy you got the service was helpful also

Dizzy Skull Bubs (9/10) My favorite!!! Has a very slight bubble gum after taste and was like a firm soft marshmallow bite

Oh man, as much as I wish there was a location closer to where I live, it's a good thing that there isn't because I would be going here very often. This place has the yummy trending Swedish and European gummies (Spain, Britain, etc.) and other yummy candies from around the world. Little did I know, this place existed way before the Swedish Candy trend and has been open for 10 years! I am so freaking happy my sister and I decided to go today. Surprisingly, San Francisco was peaceful and very empty today and when we visited the store, it was empty! **Overview: Candy selection: 9/10 Price/worth: 9/10 Service: 9/10 Ambiance: 8/10 Parking: 6/10 (doesn't count toward rating) CANDY SELECTION: 9/10 I came here with one goal in mind and it was to get the Bubs gummies. They have a great selection!!!! Caramel/Banana, Raspberry/Blueberry, Tutti Frutti, Dizzy Skull (MY FAVORITE), and SO much more. PRICE/WORTH: 9/10 I think the price was great. You pay per pound and we filled up our candy bag a little below half and paid $11. Compared to the prices you see online for these trending candies and we were able to customize what we want and get a lot, is worth it. SERVICE: 9/10 Very friendly lady who ran the store on her own. You grab a tong from the staff member, which I think is great and seems more hygienic that way. AMBIANCE: 8/10 A small store and there are candy selections all around the store, high and low, including the register counter. PARKING: 6/10 Located few steps away from Market St, there is a lot of 90-degree parking which is convenient than parking on the hectic main street of Market. However, it also seems the parking gets filled up as well so you may have to find residential parking in the alleys. I would LOVE to go back again for sure!!!!

This place is a local gem. I come in here a few times a week. The owner will let you do your thing. But, she's also very knowledgeable if you have any questions. Giddy adds childhood wonder to our cold world. It can cheer up the worst of days.

One of the only self serve international candy shops I've found in SF! It's quite pricey, but these things are treats so I try my best to stay away haha. It's about $17-18 per pound, and the candies available swap out pretty often.

For me, it's always a shame when a longtime business shutters, but even more so when it's a spot I used to frequent when I was a kid! So, you can imagine how stoked I was when I heard that not only was a new owner going to be coming in to take on the space, but that they were going to keep just about everything about this place the same! If you ever visited the original Shaws, this place will look and feel more than a little familiar. From their signage, to their decor, to their range of offerings, so much of this place is just like its predecessor. Most importantly, of course, their offerings are no different from before either. While most folks, like me, mainly stop in for a scoop (or three) of their Mitchell's ice cream, Shaws is actually a candy shop, selling a variety of housemade fudges, chocolates, and confections along with candies from both well-known and lesser-known brands, like Tootsie Roll Pops, PEZ, and Nerds. -- GRASSHOPPER PIE ICE CREAM Despite how there are so many newer ice cream creations and flavors out there, this continues to rank as one of my favorites anywhere. The mint chocolate chip, Oreo, and fudge complement each other very well and the ice cream itself is so smooth and creamy - DELICIOUS! -- ESPRESSO TOFFEE CRUNCH ICE CREAM On the rare, RARE occasion that I don't get the Grasshopper Pie, this is what I typically get instead. The ice cream has a nice espresso taste to it with a good amount of toffee bits thrown in. Yet, much like the Grasshopper Pie, it's still not overly sweet either. -- DARK CHOCOLATE CARAMEL WITH SEA SALT...about $1 for my piece ($32 per pound) A worker mentioned this is her favorite candy here and I get it. While it was initially tough to bite (cold), it was perfect once it warmed up. The caramel was rich, smooth, not too sweet, and well complemented by the chocolate's bitterness and the bits of sea salt. -- ENGLISH TOFFEE WITH DARK CHOCOLATE - $3 for my piece ($32 per pound) This was terrific! The toffee had a nice, buttery flavor to it and a really good consistency - slightly thick, but not impossibly hard to crack. The nuts on the outside were great as well, but I do wonder if this might've been better with milk chocolate for some added sweetness. -- DUBAI CHOCOLATE...$7 Ehh. My least favorite thing I've tried, but the best Dubai chocolate I've had (I'm just not a fan of it/fudge). The chocolate portion was decent, albeit very stiff, while the chopped filo added some texture. That said, the pistachio portion felt really subtle. Along with how great their sweet treats are, the workers are just as awesome. Each time I've been here, they've always been super welcoming and it's cool how they'll chat it up with regulars and their kids, which adds to Shaws' small town/local charm (and that of West Portal at-large). Plus, it's awesome how they have a backroom space that you can rent for parties and to do activities, like candy making! Looking back at my review for the original Shaws, I'm surprised that I only gave it four stars. Not that it matters at this point, but if I had to guess, I would've bet good money I gave five. Also, I know some of my fellow Yelpers have dinged Shaws for not making their own ice cream, but I'm fine with it since A) they're a CANDY shop and B) coming here is far more convenient than heading to Mitchell's, unless I'm looking for a flavor they don't offer here (they usually have 15-20 of them). Not to mention the fact that I can also pick up some other sweets while supporting the newest iteration of one of my childhood favorites! FOUR AND A HALF STARS rounded up.

Finally popped in after walking my dogs around the Haight. If you ever find yourself wandering the Haight with a sweet tooth, Candy's is the kind of place that reels you in with its polka-dot storefront and keeps you there with its sheer wall-to-wall candy magic. I popped in during an evening dog walk & it was game over. Inside, the shop bursts with color, rows of gummies, chocolates, and nostalgic treats that make you feel like you've stepped into a real-life candy playground. The selection is seriously impressive. Think sour watermelon slices, Swedish-style raspberry gummies, cola bottles, peach rings, rainbow belts, giant marshmallow twists, Haribo classics, and even fun themed candies like frogs, sharks, and gummy strawberries. Everything is neatly packaged and easy to browse, which makes it extremely dangerous for anyone prone to impulse snacking. Even my pup tried to "shop" the lower shelves -- apparently the scent of sugar is universally appealing. The staff is as sweet as the inventory. They greeted me right away, offered recommendations, and seemed genuinely excited about their collection. Prices feel reasonable for the neighborhood, especially given the variety and the care clearly put into stocking the shelves. Plus, the vibe is just delightful -- bright, cheerful, and very Haight Street. She acknowledged that my reaction was understandable and apologized to me, and when she saw how upset I was, she kindly processed a refund, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, a big, tanned male employee handled this situation extremely poorly. I had already purchased two coffees and bakery items before continuing to browse. While looking around, I picked up a bag of chips but had no free hands, so I placed it on top of my very full bag, clearly visible at all times -- not inside it. At checkout, this employee aggressively accused me of putting the item in my bag and repeatedly insisted that he "saw it," despite the fact that it was never hidden and I was fully willing to pay. I calmly explained the situation multiple times, but he refused to listen and continued to accuse me of stealing. He never apologized and continued to push the accusation. Ultimately, I was so upset by how I was being treated that I requested a refund, which was handled politely by the female employee, not by him. Being accused of theft without evidence, especially after already making purchases, was humiliating. The way I was treated felt racially biased, discriminatory, and deeply disrespectful. Loss prevention does not justify treating a paying customer this way. This experience left me extremely uncomfortable and disappointed.
