It offers a ton of parking, a pool, gazebos and kayaks for rent, and activities for kids. City Lake hosts community events from time to time, and it can get quite crowded on those days, but go during an off-hour and its fairly serene. For walkers, there's a view of the lake and some interesting wildlife (Muscovy ducks, anyone?). The trails also connect to the Piedmont Environmental Center, which is worth remembering should PEC parking ever fill up. Whether you want to swim, fish, paddle, or stroll, City Lake Park has what you need to be able to enjoy the outdoors.

Just make sure you upkeep and don't let the integrity fade or die. Great public water access park…read more Easy peasy boat ramp, inexpensive usage fees and a friendly marina. Good for canoeing and kayaking. Picnic areas and even a couple overnight spots to camp make this an easy getaway for an afternoon or a weekend. The marina store has basic tackle and bait for purchase. Can't vouch for the golf course, haven't tried that yet. Ps the fishing is pretty good too.

Creekside Park is located off of 311 on the Archdale/High Point border. It's very nice, kept clean…read moreand organized (lots of signs explaining where things are etc). There are a few playgrounds, bathrooms, a covered shelter for picnics, a pretty gazebo, ball field, disc golf and walking trails. I like to come here in the morning when it's not too cold out to get an outside workout in when I want to switch things up, rather than going to the gym and walking on the treadmill. The walking trails at Creekside Park are fantastic; lots of greenery or autumn foliage depending on the season. There's great lighting and usually a number of maintenance men on the property during the morning hours, so I always feel safe walking here. It's also a great place for shooting photography or a photo shoot if you are planning on having pictures taken.

If Greensboro and High Point can claim somewhere as a "central park" it would have to be the parks…read moreand rec complex created by the fusion of City Lake Park, Jamestown Park and Golf Course, the High Point Greenway, and the Piedmont Environmental Center converging together on this point. If you can't figure out a way to spend a day outside somewhere in all that, you might just not like the outdoors! The Piedmont Environmental Center serves as kind of a trailhead for the High Point Greenway, as well as a system of lakeside trails that run along city lake and the golf course. The welcome center is attractive on the outside, though decisively could use a facelift indoors. Still, it has what you need. Restrooms, vending, information and brochures, and even a small exhibit featuring native snakes and amphibians from the Piedmont. I never pass up a chance to check out some snakes, preferably behind glass like these. The trails make a great place for a light intensity hike, a simple nature walk, or just a place to walk the dog. On my visit, it was an overcast and cool day in early spring, so it's not quite time for peak visitors yet. I prefer this time of year, things are quiet and serene, and the trees are just starting to bloom. There is no shortage of signage along the trails, and ample places to make sure you clean up after your dog. Another note, if you're a Pokemon Go player, there are no less than 12(!) easy to access gyms at both the major hub around the visitor center, and then several along the trails, not to mention a litany of Pokestops. Please only read this information and follow it if you're on team Mystic. The rest of you can feel free to forget you read it. All of this is free, so get out and enjoy nature as North Carolina provides in abundance!

From the external amenities, like the tennis courts, amazing playground, three ball fields, and additional spaces, to the entire inside of the rec center, this center is an asset to High Point. Boasting nice external bathrooms, this is a great place to bring littles on the weekend. The ball fields can be reserved for different user groups. I am so glad that a nice, clean, enjoyable space like this exists.

They eased my sister, my nephew, and my niece's father's burden with their caring support.

And the arboretum may as well be the central Jewel in the crown. This space is an endless amble filling the otherwise unused, hilly gaps of in-between. There are gravel, mulch, dirt and paved pathways intermingled with themed spaces, specialty gardens, groves of large native trees, plenty of benches, shaded and sunny spaces alike, and an assortment of artistic installations. It connects neighborhoods to baseball diamonds and wide open multi-use fields. There are places to picnic the day away or watch the kids burn energy on the playground. And best of all, it's completely free and easily accessible from multiple points along the perimeter. If you are looking to spend a quiet Sunday de-stressing before a new work week, I can't recommend this place more!

People were fishing, riding bikes, letting the kids play at the park, saw a few birthday parties. Cute little office with fish tanks, snakes enclosed in glass and a small taxidermy bear !
