They do have a few trails but it's not fancy like many big state parks. If you're looking for a clean, well taken care of park this is your place. Its quiet and not crowded most of the time…read more The first thing you see after parking is the recreation area suitable for children and adults alike. It has kids play area, for adults there is a big field for sports and courts for pickle ball and tennis. Across the street are short trails that run by a creek and goes about a mile. The trail goes straight with a few ways to branch off. There is a short bridge that goes over the creek and ends near the Silas Creek area. Along that trail is an open field and a small stand of bamboo trees to seek a little shade. The main trail ends at a busy road and there is another trail on the other side of this road. If you get tired there are a few benches scattered in different parts of the trail for resting, reading or enjoying the surroundings. The benches have plaques dedicated to family loved ones but my fave is the bench plaque that simply says "Pay it Forward"..... Food for thought while sitting there.

This park has a walking trail that is paved and stroller friendly, and a couple of playgrounds intersect this on either side. Looks like one playground also contains a splash pad, but this was closed off when we went. Not sure if because it was still early in the season or if it's still shut down due to the pandemic. On the other side of the parking lot is a unique outside gym area with several pieces of equipment. Elliptical, stepper, pull-up bars, resistance trainers, and signage accompanying with instructions. This is under a canopy and looks well maintained. Adjacent to this is also a court area for playing horseshoes and pétanque. They also host a friendly and free pétanque league here! I had to look up what pétanque was, and seems like it's very similar to bocce ball. I might join up this summer! They gather on Sunday afternoons.

My biggest disappointment here is all the rules and signage in place that I feel takes away from kids being able to be kids, especially at a playground! The landscaping set up was a poor choice when it comes to the location and expectation for it to be kept in order. It's not set up with children in mind. Definitely can't play hide and seek behind the bushes or pick flowers for your mom or you'll get yelled at by the property and grounds staff. If your child is fascinated by nature I wouldn't recommend coming here. You'll get the side eye just for looking at the trees. You'll just have to see for yourself and it will make more sense. And not being able to bring your bikes or scooter or sidewalk chalk?? I've never seen these kinds of rules at a park. There is so much sidewalk and smooth paved areas, it would be perfect for all of those things!! But they seem to care more about looks than functionality and it being a safe space for kids to be free. Anyways like I said nice features but I don't think this place was designed from a child's perspective and them being able to have fun.

There's a nicely sized play structure for the kids which is completely fenced in, which is nice for peace of mind. A bench, a water fountain that doubles as a mister (which all the kids LOVE on hot summer days). There are tennis courts next to the play structure, as well as a decently sized free parking lot. If you walk behind the parking lot, there's a small path that goes down a hill to a small bridge, which my kids love visiting. We took some informal fall pictures at this park last year -- the leaves were gorgeous! I get compliments on this photos all the time. If you're looking for a quiet park where it's incredibly easy to keep an eye on your kiddos, this is a great choice.

My experiences with Bur-Mil over the years have been mainly to use the golf practice facilities,…read morebut I always see a lot of people enjoying the aquatic center and pool, lake, walking the trails, or using the event center. This is truly a full service park! That said, my review will focus mainly on the golf portions, with the park overall being a solid 5, and a must use for anyone in the Greensboro area. The driving range is just what you want and nothing more. A big open field to hit balls into, no frills, and also at a cheaper price than average. This is all I need, and all just about anyone would need at an amateur level. Distances are marked, and since it is pretty flat, you'll get a good idea for how far and straight you are hitting what. It's a popular place to practice, especially after typical work hours. The par 3 course... wellllll... it is less of a golf course, more of a hilly open area with some cutouts that would indicate a "green." There are 9 holes, the longest of which is about 130 yards, so no need to bring many clubs with you. The greens are about as rough as they get. There really isn't much of a putting surface. Too many weeds, and it's cut too long to get a realistic roll, I actually don't bother putting, because it isn't going to be good practice. There is also usually goose poop landmined around the course, the greens are no exception. The greens are also very small, none of which would be more than 25 feet in diameter, if that. The way I usually play, sticking the green from the tee is a birdie. Chipping up within about 5-8 feet is par. Anything outside of that, bogey. All this critique given, it was less than 10 bucks to play, really as much as you'd like. It does help you work on your short irons and wedges, and for that, I enjoy it and will return. Also, cheap beers in the clubhouse are just 2 bucks!

Disappointing to say the least. Now the water feature with the large rocks is very nice. Great place to chill out.
