Utilizing the outdoor gym in Bolton Park.
Corey S.

The outdoor gym caught my eye driving past one day and was the main reason why I wanted to visit this particular park, however it is quite disappointing since the resistance on the equipment is close to nonexistent. The park, in itself, as a whole is nice and clean as far as the actual grounds and pool is concerned (which is still closed, unfortunately, due to the pandemic), but I can't say that the outdoor gym is even worth utilizing since you won't truly get any noticeable results out of it.

Went over Fourth of July weekend with family. Lifeguards are on it! The pool is huge so plenty of room. At least 3 diving boards in use. Concession stand, eh, is what it is. Cheap to get in. Only drawback was not a lot of shade, actually hardly any. But we had a fun day!

This is our first visit to Bolton Park/Pool. Me and my family have really been able to enjoy our time here. Very inexpensive, friendly staff and cool surroundings. Awesome diving boards for all ages! The kiddie pool area is a great setup for all the kids wanting to swim without being intimidated by older ones.

My child loves this park because it is a giant sandbox!!! A sand filled playground is an absolute rarity and we love it!

They have a separate kid pool that is about 1 foot deep and huge with lots of water sprayers.

Fantastic diving boards (super bouncy), amazing high dive, lap area, fun kid's area, and not too crowded at all!

Great trail for walking, running, walking the dogs or riding a bike. The Old Salem section of the Strollway is a 5 star. The trail takes you right past Old Salem. You will pass right by the Old Salem Visitors Center and the Heritage Bridge. You can cross over the street using the bridge and visit Old Salem if you like. The trail in this section is wide enough for all people coming and going. If you follow the Strollway south you will end up at the Greenway, which you can take to Winston-Salem State or Salem Lake to the west, or Washington Park to the east, but that is another review. You do have to cross over a busy street (Salem Avenue) but there is a nice wine shop on the other side. The northern route past Old Salem takes you to downtown and ends at 4th Street. This takes you under Business 40 and past Corpening Plaza park. Nice part of this section is you end up right into the heart of all of the downtown restaurants on 4th Street. This section requires crossing 3 streets in downtown. The only reason I don't have the Strollway rated 5 stars is the section running under Business 40 can be a little sketchy. This will change after the Business 40 renovations are completed.

A pleasant 1.2 mile trek from downtown Winston-Salem to Old Salem/Salem Ave. it's a leisurely walk…read moredown tree lined sidewalks passing residential areas, cafes, and historical Old Salem which is where the Moravians settled in the early 1800's. Whether leisurely, or for hard core exercise, this is a magnificent adventure!
