He has helped me resolve every mechanical problem with 4 different cars over these years. Because this is a very busy shop, I always try to make an appointment in advance and show up with a printed list of concerns, a completion time request, and a further request that he call before working on anything that is significant in time and cost. I always go through my list with Nick or his son, Kevin. If there are expensive repairs, Nick usually gives me alternatives that meet my budget. Much to my surprise when I got there I saw they had a auto collision portion of the shop, as well as offering a free hand wash upon Yelp Check In. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who had me complete paperwork for the service and one of the mechanic's took me right away. They conducted the inspection of air pressure etc confirming that I definitely need new tires and I was done in about 15 minutes tops. Fastest oil change of my life. Usually I'm sitting for hours at the dealership just to get the free deal but I was in a hurry and didn't want to put it off any longer. The mechanics were kind and explained everything and even offered free Self Serve water and coffee at their mini bar. I got the feel of visiting the dealership without having to sit for hours.

I was told the engine was…read morestrong, that the car would get me back and forth to work every day on the Northern State Parkway safely, that I could put another 100,000 miles on it, and that Sam had already put a lot of new parts into the car. That is not what happened. I only got about 15,000 miles out of it. After the purchase I still had to pay Sam about $2,000 more to replace the catalytic converter, an engine mount, and the right front control arm. In August 2026 I brought the car back. I asked for an oil change, pointed out a strap hanging down in the front of the car (Sam said he saw it), and asked him to do the inspection because it expires in September 2026. I was then told the car needed a list of repairs, including new struts and shocks -- work Sam had said was already done when I bought the car a year earlier. Three days after I got the car back, the check engine light came on. I took it to AutoZone across the street. Their free test said the exhaust failed, the oxygen sensor needed to be replaced, and the air filter was no good. I took the paperwork and the same repair bills to Tony, another mechanic down the street. He said the car needed about another $3,000 in repairs to be safe to drive, and that this was more than the car was worth. I ended up donating the car to charity. I cannot recommend buying a used car from this shop based on this experience. I was told it was a solid daily driver with a lot of life left and recent work already done. I spent more money after the sale, the same items came up again a year later, and within days of the last visit the check engine light was on and two other shops said it still was not safe or worth fixing.
