The Bakery is just okay. I don't care for the bread choices and the in my opinion, many of the sweet breads are pasty. My biggest Criticism is the Prepared Food area. The foods in the case are generally brown and dried out on top. They are filled with preservatives and seem to sit, unattended for long periods of time. Again, this is my opinion. Fresh Market Prepared Foods can not compare with Giant Eagle Market District. I hope the powers that be at TFM consider this review!

It was so unorganized, people getting irritated and shoppers unable to move around the store because of the winding line out the door. Maybe next year have 2 or 3 people taking names for pickup. There is both an International Grocery Store and a Restaurant at this location. I stopped at the restaurant first, ordered lunch (they told me it would be ready in 15-20 minutes), and then walked around the store perusing the shelves. There is a little bit of everything in this store, including a very nice produce section, various groceries, toys, lottery, and even clothing. For my lunch, I had the Jhol Momo (Vegetarian), and it was served in a plastic microwave style bowl with a plastic lid. It was also served with plastic cutlery. The food was tasty (Momos are like little dumplings and this dish served them in a spicy sauce). I am not sure if it was made fresh, or if it was just microwaved from frozen, but I thought it had a good overall taste. I suppose I would come back again if I found myself in the area . . . Cheers!

There is definitely not enough parking and it borders with a busy Chick Fil A, so that makes it even more challenging. That is why I deducted a star. Otherwise, this is a wonderful location. It is well maintained and well stocked. If one of your favorites isn't there, they can and will look up the status of the product. They can check if it was discontinued, if they have it on order (and when they should have it in stock again) or when they are able to order it again. It is really helpful! They will also let you sample something if you have a question about it. I've only done this once (and it was because they offered). They also often have samples of a product they are trying to promote that week or month. Food quality is fresh and there is a really nice variety of items. I especially like perusing the frozen aisle because there are so many unique international food options like Korean, French, Italian and Greek options just to name a few. The inside of the location is clean, well lit and full of vibrant color. This is a great location (if you are able to actually find a place to park)

Generally a good grocery experience, but lately there have been some issues that have caused me…read moresome grief. The big one, and one of our staples is Organic Pasteurized Milk. Unfortunately, they no longer offer it. They only carry Ultra-Pasteurized Organic Milk, which doesn't taste as good as plain pasteurized. The only benefit to Ultra-Pasteurization is to increase shelf life. Secondly, the freezers have been down for weeks and some frozen items that I use a lot have been hard to get. Sometimes, you have to ask the staff to go in the back freezer and see if they can find it. It the beginning though, they said the back freezer was so full that they couldn't get anything out of it. Lastly, another staple for me, San Francisco Sourdough bread, has been in and out of inventory occasionally over the past few weeks. All of these things are first world problems, and generally TJ's is still an O.K. place . . . Cheers!

It's not my preferred place to go, but when you need it, it's your savior. It's usually very clean and always dimly lit so make sure your phone has enough battery to keep the flashlight on throughout the duration of your visit. The smell changes frequently based upon the time of day and who was there before you. Upon entering, you might be treated with a nice scent of flowers but you could also get a pungent whiff of urine if the motorized carts haven't been hosed off recently. On rare occasions, it might smell like sewage although that issue has been recitified thankfully. Nevertheless, it's a great place and has everything you need. Staff is very friendly. Cat food is typically $1 less per can than Giant Eagle, so stock up when you can. Ultimately, I love this place. They don't make them like this anymore.

If I had a lot of bags I'd take the T home. I recall many a day getting a good aerobic workout lugging a 50 lb. backpack plus extra bags of food in both hands up that huge hill! I loved walking through picturesque Dormont Park. Our mother used to live near the top of McFarland Rd. so I'd often walk to Kuhn's for her and then walk back. Kuhn's is much smaller than some of the gargantuan supermarkets like the Brentwood Giant Eagle (which is now our home store) or Costco, but they have just about everything you need. Their seafood is fresh. I love their homemade specialty hoagies, so fresh and delicious. Shop 'n Save used to carry similar hoagies but stopped making them. At least the Carrick one did. Kuhn's deli is excellent. They are one of the few stores to carry the delicious Boar's Head brand deli meats. I like Giant Eagle's brand Dietz & Watson, but I prefer Boar's Head. Their aged provolone (picante - slightly sharp flavor) is wonderful. I must also mention Kuhn's ready-made fried chicken. It is my favorite out of all the various stores chicken. I have fond memories of shopping at Kuhn's. We still go there once or twice a month. Give them a try!

Maybe I am tiring of the…read moresuper large stores with gigantic parking lots where the first 10 spaces or so are reserved, and where the market is so large you need to ensure you're wearing track shoes. I needed just a few items, and didn't want to drive across town to where I normally shop, so decided to stop here since it was so close to where I was already. I was able to park so close to the front door, which was nice. Inside, there is no doubt the store is small and one part nearest Baptist road is actually a foot or so lower than the rest of the store. You kind of go down hill to enter that part (which is where the hotdogs are.) The ceiling is also lower in that part of the store so its a bit of a throw back to the 1990's and earlier. But inside they've got everything you need just like other Giant Eagles. The deli counter ladies were also nice. Another throwback, they didn't act like people with a job but instead acted like neighbors who wanted to help you out. No self check-out here, but no complaints from me about that. The checker actually talked to me rather than ignoring my presence while continuing a conversation with other employees. Nice!
