I have become a loyal GIANT supermarket customer and discovered Harvest markets in Philadelphia extremely high priced limited selection but high quality foods. I now shop at a full service store at N. Broad at Spring Garden. It's an excellent store, wonderful, friendly and helpful employees clean and great selections. Due to excessive travel I rely on deliveries for my weekly groceries, the GIANT Direct delivery is terrible and reaching their customer service is impossible, cold items come warm and most fresh items sent expires in a couple days. They send you money back but don't resolve the issue. I find out that Giant is now owned by #AholdDelhaize a Dutch-Belgian multinational retail and wholesale holding company. Its name comes from the 2016 merger of two companies: Ahold (Dutch) and Delhaize Group (Belgian), which both have origins in the 1800s. Its business format includes supermarkets, convenience stores, hypermarkets, online grocery, online non-food, drugstores, and liquor stores. I've shopped here several times a week for Years. A few days ago, I was stopped by a female employee as I was rolling my cart out and asked for my receipt. I handed it to her while she eyeballed and questioned the contents of my cart. I thought the woman was going to ask me to empty my purse and I was livid. I visit this GIANT location only when I need to pick up a couple of items. There is litter and debris all over the parking lot. The pavement is filthy and needs to be power washed. Overpriced and understaffed. Let start with Giant Stores always have all the items and stock you need but at what cost? A great cost! I find Giant Stores merchandise is cat least 3-5% higher than other stores in the area, Acme is a very close second. If you shop after 8pm it's very hard to find associates to help you locate items or answer questions. On the up side the deli items are reasonably priced and fresh but beware of the seafood as it's not always the freshest. In a pinch I shop here for instance, on the way to work and I need to bring the drinks or dessert. This market would not be the preferred place for my personal or family shopping but it's clean, well lit and stocked. read more

Be careful of the young people asking for donations at the front entrance. I was attacked by the 2 times, was referd by them as white racesist since I refused to give donation. Was threatens to be smacked and been rediculd on my way out. Store manager dismissed my complain, and by that received the cheers of the 3 young man and one woman. They need to get their card readers fixed! They constantly malfunction and you are asked to keep inserting your card until your bank marks your transaction as fraudulent. This is unacceptable and has happened to me multiple times! Get some new card readers and train your cashiers to be nice or at least communicate! You seriously need to check EVERY expiration date here. I just discovered the dip I purchased on 11/21 has been expired since 11/9. This could have gotten my whole family sick for thanksgiving. This has happened every single time I go shopping. I spend so much time checking expiration dates and giving expired products to the cashier just to come home and find that I missed one. This store has becoming a breeding ground for incompetence. It used to be such a nice store. They never have much of anything. But I still go there hoping for a change because its close by. Well today was the last day. The employees are horrible especially in the deli and seafood sections. When u order meats and cheese they cut them however they feel like cutting and then give an attitude when u bring it to their attention. I asked for my cheese and meats to be cut very thin. They cut it thick. I say i need it thin and the lady tells me "well thats how she cut it and we aint cutting it again". Ok. No problem thank you and goodbye. Somehow I always wind up at this Giant when I'm out and about and somehow every time I leave more and more disappointed. Giant has really good deals if you pay attention to their weekly ad and coupons, however this location is lacking. I went a few weeks ago and there were no carts, like none at all. Had to stalk someone unpacking their groceries in their car to get a cart. *Major red flag* On top of that there were barely any items in stock on the shelves. I was mostly looking for snacks for the kids and the mission was a fail. I actually left out with about 3/4 bags and about -$100 out of my pocket. Frustrating to say the least. I usually visit this location early morning. It gets really crowded at night and weekends. The shelves are full and there is plenty to buy at 7am. I like that I am able to pick up salmon even thought the meat dept is closed (prepackaged in the case). The ladies at customer service are really nice and helpful Today I went in and they got rid of hand baskets. I wonder if it's just there or everywhere. If you ask me it's DUMB. My GIANT, as I like to call this supermarket, has quite a few things that keep me coming back: - Location, location, location! It's within walking distance of my apartment! - Great hours! 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. How can you beat that? I've been known to get a sudden urge to bake at ungodly hours of the night, so my GIANT helps with my absurd tendencies! - Great selection: even though I like to shop at Price Rite to save a little money, I go to my GIANT when I can't find certain ingredients or items. They have a great "international" selection, and I can always find what I need! My only complaint would be that they are understaffed when it comes to the folks that work the registers. I'm a self-checkout type of girl myself, but when there aren't enough registers open, people start to flood the self-checkout area. There have also been quite a few times that those pesky "Out of Order" signs have shown up on more than one self-checkout kiosk. Not a fan of those. Check out my GIANT. By far worst Giant in the area and I've shopped at at least a dozen of them via a PT job (I won't mention which company but you could guess). It's habitually dirty. Crowded. Produce selection is lacking. Shopping carts are never gathered and you have to go hunting for one. Seriously, you walk into the front - no carts. Longest lines are on Sundays and you would think it was a concert you're waiting so long to check out. This is my closest local Supermarket meaning I've been here once a week for years. I went to this location for the first time yesterday, (Sunday October 14th), I'm giving this 5 stars due to the young lady in the seafood department, I believe her name is Beth... I don't think she could have been anymore helpful, professional, social, and sweet!!! Don't lose her, she's the best employee of any of the Giant locations I've been to, and I've been to many!!!! After standing in line for at least 20 minutes (the line was down the soup isle, customers were angry, not a pleasant place to be when you're trying to get home and prepare a family Sunday night dinner.. finally, another line opened, 6 people rushed, I waited my turn, time for me to check out, I was frustrated, nervous about how I'm going to get dinner on the table for my family (who's waiting for me)... there was Carl, he was amazing!!! I enjoy this store! They just need a wild caught seafood section & a halal section so I can buy everything from here. Deli has long hours which I do appreciate! This Giant, compared to the others in the area(Oak Ave, Township Line Rd), is a disgrace. The quality and attention to detail pales in comparison to the other locations. The lines are long. The shelves are stocked sloppily in many aisles. The quality of meat and fresh fruit is lacking. But why??? The place is very clean! People are very fast on the registers. I got my coupon member card in no time! I decided to use self checkout instead when I was done shopping. Employee took his time in helping me with items that needed to weighed & were on sale. Place smells great! My kids love Marty the Giant robot! They even have stuffed animal made of him you can purchase. I love the little hover-rounds that you can drive. Very smooth & soft cushioning, can easily drive. Don't hear no crunchy or crackling sounds. I can't barley hear the engine. Very excellent cruise control. Don't take long to charge up if battery running low. I was in the middle of shopping seeing the light change that tells you when it needs to be charged (other stores don't have that feature). They usually take longer. I like their sales & the fact they have 10 for $10 here, but you save more here that you would do with bouge ACME stores. They have large selection of hair stuff & make-up too especially e.l.f. cosmetics! They a lot of fun stuff to make themes & plenty of stuff to craft & create besides with food. Good cookware with reasonable sale prices. Items are very easy to find. You will find items you didn't even know that you want & have a great time saving you might to even buy for a friend or too or family member. Very quiet. A/C feels great! This Store really really needs new management or something. Whose checking the produce ? Why is the lettuce covered with brown lines? Not just one but several. Why are the raspberries molded at the bottom? And what happen to the cold cuts counter ? Why is the ham, bologna, and even cheese jacked up, either to thick or to thin What the hell is going on. Shelves are empty , even some beyond the date milk. The Giant Corporation needs to send someone from corporate to check this out and don't announce that your coming. When you hire a group of young people, a seasoned worker is needed, making sure things are getting done correctly and please trained those who are cutting our cold cuts, we are tired of riding out to Springfield to get it cut correctly. read more

Don't Come For Deli. We Will Be Here All Day Long. No Joke. I Do Instacart And I Avoid This Place At All Cost.

A lot of people complain about this location, and I can understand why, but it does serve my needs. I buy most of my produce and all of my meat from the farmer's market or Philly FoodWorks, so I use the Giant mainly for dry and canned goods, milk and cheese, fruit, and herbs. It has organic milk and cream, a decent selection of real cheeses (i.e. not shredded in a bag), though sadly no local, a more-than-adequate Italian section (mmm, anchovies and olives), and a wide variety of produce, including some interesting kinds I haven't seen at other places outside of HMart. There's only a slim selection of organic produce, but none of the produce I've bought there has rotted within a day, which is more than I can say for Aldi. Plus, they have digestives and Petits Ecoliers. So as far as selection goes, I'm satisfied. As for the state of the store, it's not great. I wouldn't say it's actually dirty, but somehow it doesn't feel clean. There are always a ton of shoppers, and I don't think I've ever not waited in line to check out. There are very few cashiers but many self-checkouts, but the self-checkout technology is so bad that even a control freak like me would rather wait for a cashier. My biggest complaint, though, is the chaos of entry and exit. There's one door that serves as both, and there's always a logjam of shoppers and carts trying to get in and out. Shop here often. The cashiers and staff are very nice.Pretty clean store. However, the produce is never really all nice. Most of the time there is rotten produce, especially in the organics. I often find canned and jarred and packaged stuff like pepperoni that is long long expired. The bathroom is not very clean. There will be a wet floor sign like someone cleaned the bathroom, and it is not clean at all. The baby hanging station is filthy. Marty the robot gets in my way. read more

This is a typical giant. My favorite part is that there is a giant gas outside, so I can use my reward points to get gas after I finish my grocery shopping. The only annoying part of the Giant is that their produce is not always fresh, so sometimes I make a trip to another store to purchase produce. read more

I had went to the 300 E Baltimore Ave, Lansdowne, PA 19050 giants location I been a customer of theirs for years. It's my Neighborhood location. But tonight will be my very last time going there and I will see to it my family , friends and associates will not pretake there. Today at 7:00 pm I want to cash in my coin star receipt. I approached the heavy set light complexion young lady with two buns told me as I walked up with her late on shouted at me saying she "was closed!" I said to her I just wanted to cash in my receipt she said "no" and watched the customer Infront of me bag up his stuff she didn't even help him I then knew she was inexperienced , and unpleasant . I went to another line she then walked up to the skinny fair skin young lady and told her while she was servicing to close her line . The other young lady said no I'm going to keep it open because the team lead or assistant manager was watching . The young lady said why I closed my line I'm not helping nobody for the rest of the night she then said they do this to me and you all the time for her to feel comfortable saying that in front of me shows she doesn't take her job seriously . If you lack customer service skills then why apply for the job nobody made you apply for that position if you not a people person then take your attitude else where that all being said not only is she a brute she's lazy and a tyrant . This is our new favorite grocery store. The prices are decent, and the selection is absolutely insane -- especially where it counts, which, for me, is the produce section. It's annoying as hell for me to drive all the way through West Philly from the Spring Garden District, but it's worth it, since I can't find what I need, affordably, anywhere else closer. I also love the fact that they discount your gas if you have a club card, and once you build up enough points, you can get a ton of money off per gallon. In terms of food and quality, much better than fresh grocer. I have been shopping here for the past 8 years, and customer service is my only complaint. I typically read other reviews prior to posting; to make sure I'm not over reacting nor bias. Reviews are spot on. There has been an increase of obnoxious teens over the years, who don't even want to bother bagging your items, or try to even pretend they want to be there. Give you attitudes or very weird body languages, like I'm wasting their time. I understand they're kids and might not be a dream job. I had my fair share of shitty jobs as a kid, but I worked my ass off and always had the upmost respect for customers and elders. I just turned 26 btw. If you're going to put on a uniform do your job. Eating in at their 'Cafe' will satisfy if Cafeteria food is to your liking.
