This place is all view, no substance. The waterfront setting is genuinely nice, but unfortunately that's where the positives end. The service was terrible from start to finish. Slow, inattentive, and disorganized, with long stretches of waiting and little communication. To make matters worse, there's an automatic 25% gratuity, which feels completely unjustified given the level of service. I'm fine tipping well when it's earned, but forcing it at that rate while delivering poor service is ridiculous. As for the food, it was fine. Not bad, but nothing memorable or worth the price. Everything felt average at best, and definitely not enough to make up for the service or the inflated expectations. If you're just looking for a nice view by the water and don't care much about service or standout food, maybe this works. Otherwise, there are far better places in the city that respect both your time and your wallet. read more

Incredible ambiance, one of the best in the city hands down. If you want a place for decent drinks and a view, this is it! The staff are nice and the cost check was pleasant. The food, however, left a bit to be desired. The inconsistency in temperature of the chicken franceses its side dishes, the way the mozzarella stuck to the tomatoes, and as well as the lack of customizability of menus items when requested makes me wonder if the food comes frozen and warmed up. Cool spot on one of the busiest locations in BK. Drive slow or you'll miss the entrance because at first glance all you see is a black wrought iron fence and you immediately think it's gotta be an empty lot but look just beyond into it and you see a huge Giando sign on the side of the building. Valet parking only and you walk towards some unassuming glass doors into a beautifully appointed "lobby" where you're asked what party you're here for and they take you upstairs or into the main room and I think they have a party room downstairs too. Event I was here for was a small wedding reception set up in the back area of the main dining room. Gorgeous view of the BK bridge, sunset and downtown city skyline. Room was packed half with the wedding guests and the other half with diners with reservations but the noise level was never intrusive to our party. Meal was your basic Italian catering items... You got a delicious dressed salad, a penne ala vodka pasta, your choice of steak, chicken marsala or salmon fracaise and for dessert they served the wedding cake, coffee/espresso and a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream, that immediately became affogato for me. There are not enough words to express how blown away and grateful we are for Giando on the Water - the gem of all wedding venues in New York City, hidden and somewhat under the radar, this venue is bold and refined and we're so glad we found it by simply walking in Domino Park in July of 2024. From the very first day we met with Joe and Liz at Giando, we knew we were in good hands - literally, as we shook his hand and confirmed booking our date - New Year's Eve 2025. From July 2024 until the very last song of our wedding, working with Giando was nothing but a joy. Joe and Liz are true working professionals - they know how to run an event and run it well. Their operational aptitude is unmatched and with every request, idea or vision we had to bring our dream wedding to life - they listened, responded and provided real feedback on how we can make what we want to happen, happen in a way that was operationally sound and would be successful for us. Joe is a MASTER operator - he laid our every minute of our wedding with perfection and Liz is a TOP notch seasoned organizer, reviewing every detail (which we had lots of) with precision and assuring no stone was unturned in bringing these details to life on wedding day. We met with them in-person multiple times leading to the wedding and their ability to work with us on everything we wanted to do was so appreciated. Now when it came to wedding day, we were even more blown away and our expectations were not met they were exceeded. Every single vendor involved (and we had many) we welcomed in and helped set-up and produce this dream wedding of ours. We had our ceremony inside the ballroom since it was New Year's Eve and they did an incredible transformation to flip the room from dreamy white pipe & drape ceremony to moody black/gold reception in less than an hour. We also had a STELLAR cocktail hour - the food was insane (especially the tortellini alfredo, eggplant rollatini & fried calamari) and the drinks were strong (which everyone appreciated). The cocktail room looked gorgeous because of Giando's wonderful holiday decor matched with the amazing NYC skyline views and our design. Then the reception was our dream event - the salad and pasta course set the tone for food and then the generous entrees (steak, salmon, chicken marsala) were even better than expected with tasty vegetables, potatoes & bread - more than plenty of food for any wedding and some of the most I've ever seen at an event! The bartenders did an amazing job during the reception too and the servers were incredible keeping champagne flutes full, wine bottles on every table, beer buckets on tables who wanted them and meeting every need of every guest. Theresa, our bridal attendant was the STAR of the show - she assured my gown was kept white even when a few guests spilled or food got on my dress (she literally cleaned my dress with a tide pen/club soda multiple times throughout the night), she set us up with a plate of every cocktail hour bite to eat, brought out every entree for us to try and never left my champagne glass empty or my husbands hand empty of a beer. She also helped me change from my wedding gown to reception look and made sure my veil during the ceremony was perfect walking down the aisle. The service team at Giando are best of the best, know what they're doing and do it well and with charm. They even allowed us to have a late night snack L&B Spumoni gardens vendor pop-up and helped with laying out hats to give away at the end of the night, special rock candy to go into our champagne, custom matches for our cigar vendor and assured our custom napkins, signage, etc. were where we asked for it to be. They made it so easy to bring in the vendors we wanted and perfected the wedding night in working so well together with each of them. I've been incredibly fortunate to attend a number of weddings / parties at Giando on the Water and each was a blast. The gorgeous views of the Brooklyn bridge and the lower Manhattan skyline is a sight for sore eyes. Overall, the venue is a lovely place and a good option for those who want picturesque views of the city within a fairly central locale. I can't speak to working with them directly for any events, but as a visitor I look forward to any opportunity to come here. Their space is versatile, with dedicated indoor and outdoor areas. The main reception hall looks like it can fit several hundred people at a time and the patio area seems customizable for all occasions. Giando's also doubles as a restaurant, where they specialize in Italian fine dining. There is an aspect where it feels a little dated, but it's clean and spacious no less. If the regular restaurant is anything like their catering then I'd be impressed. I wouldn't say the food I've had from Giando's kitchen is mind blowing, but it's been good for all celebrations. I've always been impressed with their catering. If I'm lucky enough to score a pig roast, they do an incredible porchetta platter and their shrimp cocktails, lobster tails, and crab claws are always a fabulous treat. While the staff varies across the board, I've been fortunate to only have had good service all throughout my adventures here. My husband and I got married at Giando's on Dec 28 2024 and it was utter perfection. Before we were even engaged I had a vision of a stunning nighttime ceremony, lit by tons candles, and a cityscape backdrop, and the space at Giando's as well as Joe and his staff truly made my vision come to life with all of that and more with not one but two bridges to light up our photos PERFECTLY! Even though it was one of the cloudiest days (and rained a ton), the skyline came through and painted the most beautiful background for our night and our guests were truly in awe. We got SO many compliments on stunning room, views, and the amazing food which was so important to us (people particularly loved how they got not one but two filets!). They have a hugeee, bright, and beautiful bridal suite complete with a bar and more of that city skyline, where I took my getting ready photos with all my girls and family (I'm one of nine just to show you how much room there was), and I particularly loved the awesome elevator photos we got, SO CUTE! It was better than my pintrest board could have ever predicted! The staff was also incredible! I'm a bit type A and got married right around the holidays so extra stress but Joe and his team were more than patient, accommodating working with our many DIYs, flipping the ceremony space so fast despite all my little details, and they truly treated us like family. We could not be happier! Everyone says you won't eat and at least one thing will go wrong but we ATE and we had zero regrets all night! It was perfection. I recently had my retirement/birthday party at this location and I must say it was a great place to have my event. The space was perfect and the ambience was beautiful especially when looking out the window you see the bridge, water and the city lights. My guests loved it and I am still getting great feedback on my party. The only complaint my guests had was that the parking space was filled up. I don't know if it's because I had that many people (210). Otherwise everything went perfect. The food was delicious and the staff was very attentive and made me feel very important. Elizabeth and Lucy was very helpful with the organization and decorating. Joe was very professional and kept his word on everything. Food is okay but not worth the $125 per person prefixed price for valentines day dinner menu. Nothing special on the menu, food is similar to what you get when attending a wedding or something. A very classy restaurant that offers more than just food. I came here with 7 of my friends. We made reservations to make sure we'd find a seat when we came in. As soon as you walk in, you are welcomed by a person and they ask you if you'd like to put your coat in the coat storage room where they'd keep your belongings safe and hassle free. Once you walk in to the door after, you're welcomed with the most beautiful view of the city and the bridge with huge windows that can show you the river and the sky. The waiters are very nice and welcoming. The bathroom itself is another amazing treatment. They have mens cologne, deodorant, towels, mints in the bathroom to make sure you're fresh and ready. Theres a person there too who will grab you paper towels after you wash your hand. The food itself is very pricey but the experience makes up for it. They have different types of pasta, steak and chicken as well. I decided to eat Steak medium rare. The searing was perfect but it was a bit chewy to me. I hosted my baby shower here in May 2021, and Giando's exceeded our expectations! Joe was most helpful, responsive, and accommodating during the planning stages. He also gave helpful suggestions to help guide me along the way. The staff, including the maître d', were phenomenal. Although I can not remember my maître d' name, he was attentive. I remember several times throughout the shower, he tapped me gently and handed me a Shirley temple while my guests enjoyed alcoholic beverages. Most importantly the food was superb! Everything was well prepared and flavorful. I am still dreaming about the salmon which was cooked to perfection. We had to go to the second floor they have an elevator the only issue is the bathroom is back on the first floor. I believe the restaurant is on the third floor that you must be awesome. THIEVES!!!! DOT NOT USE THE VALET I went to this establishment Saturday night for my sister-in-law's bachelorette party. I left a bag in my car and used the valet. At the end of the night as I got my car back, I noticed somebody had opened my bag and my wallet was spread open. My credit cards were all over the place and $500 were missing from my wallet. Excellent service, thank you guys for being my daughters' night and my excellent. Very attentive to all our orders. Very grateful and happy, despite the fact that reading the previous comments I would have a terrible impression, however it was the opposite. Second: The food; the pork was a little salty, if they took care of a little more that detail would be super perfect, from there in everything it was excellent, and the sauces a little tasteless. If they took care of the seasoning a little, it would be very excellent. I would like to go another time to talk to the chef and teach him a little, with all due respect. Dessert: excellent. Terrible service, all waiters ignore when asking to bring something over. The bar didn't have a drink menu, bar tender just laughed when I asked and said, this is a bar we have everything. Food is terrible, baked clams are over baked. Ordered medium steak, came out rare, (the steak was MOO'ING) that's how raw it was. Brought me another steak and this time it was well done with charred on top which tasted bitter and burned and the steak was rubbery now. Told waiter, they didn't care and took it away. The restaurant is ok but not fantastic. Definitely not enough to warrant what I felt was overly inflated prices for menu items that were not very good quality.. For example, I have posted their mixed green salad with a large brown/ old piece of lettuce that I feel clearly shows a lack of quality control. The entree side dishes said to come with baked potatoes, yet as shown in pics- appears to be about a half of a red potato cubed. And lastly, the salmon dinner entree portion did not satisfy me, and seemed more like a lunch menu item due to its small portion size as shown compared to the lemon slice (for comparison). My complaint is only that their prices reflect entree sizes as they show on their dinner menu- yet I felt the portion sizes were ridiculous. The steak with shrimp is $68 (yikes!) With a half cubed red potato and 4 shrimp? Really? $200.00 for a dinner for 2 wasn't worth it in my opinion. read more

They bill themselves as "fine dining" but what I got were two skinny "take-out restaurant" chops, not a thick, juicy chop that one would expect at a "fine dining" establishment. The caprese was ok. The service - smart a** waiter had no interest in listening to me. I said, "Hmmm I like salmon and I like pork chops; what do you reccomend?" He said "The steak is good." Dude, if I wanted a steak, i would have ordered a steak! My girlfriend just wanted penne a la vodka. I asked her, "do you want that as a first course?". She said, "no, just pasta." and the waiter said, "Do you want chicken with that?" Chicken with penne a la vodka???? I'm thinkin' "where am I, Olive Garden!!!" I asked for wine by the glass and he said, "we have cabernet, merlot...." (Again, I was back in Olive Garden.) GEEZ, I had to beg him for a menu. The wine was cheap but.... well, the wine was cheap. I ended up getting a bottle of Prosecco because that is hard to screw up. After the first glass, of course, we had to serve ourselves. Then came the check. OK, the place is not expensive but be careful, they pad. At the beginning of the meal, he said "do you want sparkling water?" I said, "no, just tap water" (which, if you are from out of town, is great here) but there was a charge of $10 for bottled water which we didn't want and didn't drink (we had a bottle of prosecco). I normally wouldn't have bothered but I was so annoyed at this guy, I did, so he took it off the bill. THEN, the coup de grace. He generously gave himself a 23.5% tip. He obviously liked himself better than we did. In that neighborhood, there are so many little places with authentic Italian food (and everything else). OK, no view and maybe a little more expensive, but worth it. read more
