    The trolley

My adult daughter and I took this tour on the night of the full moon this week. The tour guides, we had 2, were so cool, personable and knowledgeable. They liked questions especially if you knew a bit about some of the history of Boston. Even the loading of the trolley was fun with the 'two more' being called out as we boarded. They have keys to the locked graveyards so you get to go in when no one else is there! It was spooky but fun. Would highly recommend.

What a fun tour! My teenage boys and I loved it. Fun facts, lots of history, our guide Jonathan was funny and informative. Had a great time.

Fun tour - and we loved Petunia! She had great stories and even sang us songs. It was cool to actually go in the cemeteries after dark (other tours had to stay out). Some money from your ticket actually goes to support the upkeep of the cemeteries. Pro tip: if you are tall, get there early to load onto the bus - there are a few seats with extra legroom in the middle and in the back.

Booked this tour same day & last minute, we have 0 regrets. 1. Make sure you use the restroom before heading to check in. 2. KID FRIENDLY 3. if you can ask for a specific tour guide ask for...Lyle. She makes it 100% worth it. Informative, theatrical, fun! And she's so easy on the eyes...(sorry not sorry girl) Also, you can ask to have the curtains up during the drive, so don't be shy.

I was able to snag the last 2 tickets of the night for Saturday October 28th and I'm so glad I did! Our tour guide was an absolute delight! The night was quite warm for late October so it was a super comfortable tour. It really doesn't matter where you end up on the bus as the tour happens in the graveyards, but if you want to check out the streets, make sure your partner/friend/whomever lets you have the window side. (I say this because a lady threw a full tantrum about wanting a different bus with different windows, but it legit makes no difference). The seats are comfortable. We hopped on our bus, sat down, and began the tour a few minutes early. You drive through downtown Boston and stop at 2 burial grounds. Both of which are very old and have torrid histories. We had just visited one earlier that day, but we got a different perspective after dark as well as stories about it's history and those buried within. There is very minimal walking involved, and could probably easily accommodate those with certain mobility concerns. The tour lasts about 90 minutes, and they are very good about staying on track. I was thoroughly impressed with our guide, the tour, and the ticket purchasing experience. I have spent lots of time in Boston and I highly recommend doing this!

Even on a cold rainy night the tour was a blast. No stopping the adventure and ghost stories

Our main guide was Patty and she was good. Very engaged and knowledgeable. However, the real star was Evelyn, who led us through a graveyard visit. She was incredible! Very fun, and you see a lot of sights without all the walking.

I was a bit wary when I saw the guides dressed up in ghoulish costumes, but the second our guide Bernard started the tour I was sold. He was an extremely good storyteller, hilarious with the crowd, quick, and an overall delight. He told some great stories and kept everyone invested the whole time. Also apparently the only tour company that has nighttime graveyard access which was half the fun. 10/10 would do this again!

I would have to say this was such a fun tour. Betty was absolutely great! We loved her personality and humor. We learned some fun facts. Would definitely do it again.

Do you actually get to tour the graveyards?

I went to 2 graveyards on this trip. One of the graveyard was cool, went to 2-3 different ends of the graveyard but the other one we just stood in one location while the guide talked.

They even throw in some Pirate stories as well like Sam Bellamy & The Widdah. The crew is all dressed in Pirate attire so you really get the whole Pirate experience. We had Captain Mckinnon & Captain Mead. Both Kids & Adults will like this nautical adventure in the 7 Seas. They even let the kids help hoist the sails. This is Great to put on a future resume - Yup I helped sail a Pirate Ship. LOL! It gets chilly on the seas so bring an extra jacket. They also have Free Blankets they pass out if you're cold. You'll pass by The TD Garden, The Zakim Bridge, The Old North Church, The Seaport Area, Legal Seafood, The Rebook Headquarters, Logan Airport, The Charleston Navy Yard, The USS Constitution & many other sites. You'll definitely get heads a turning cruising in the Pirate Ship by other boaters along the route who will give you a wave. There is a rest room below the deck. Our guide, Jake, met us a bit early in the appointed spot. He handed us the ghost plushies we bought (a nice souvenir) and the EMF meters we rented, and since there were only four of us on the tour, he began early. I didn't find him very engaging and felt he was going for "jump scares" when telling the stories. Since it was evening, we could only stop outside or across the street from places we visited (except for the Boston Common, where we met). I did like the three extra stories on the extended tour. I recommend not renting the EMF meters, as we weren't really encouraged to use them. It seems Jake forgot about them as soon as he gave them to us. I turned them on a few times, but didn't get much of a result. It is a fairly short tour; we began around 7:45 and were done by 9:15. Wear comfortable shoes. You will be doing quite a bit of walking, including up a hill (that Jake joked was the scariest part of the tour). Whether or not you take the extended tour, you end up in a different location, so be mindful of that. It's not a must-do, but if it works with your schedule, it's a nice way to spend an evening.

Now this tour may not be for everyone, as the title of the tour alludes to.. but if you don't mind the random swear word and aren't easily offended, you'll be like me... cracking up for 3 hours straight. And there was one thing I noticed about Anthony that he doesn't advertise, and may try to track me down for saying on here.... But beneath the gruff exterior was the sweetest guy that seemed genuinely interested in sharing his culture, stories, and amazing food with everyone! We started off at a pizza joint where we got a slice of pizza and an arancini ball. I expected the pizza to be good... and it was fantastic. But I am not a huge fan of arancini and this one had peas in it... also something I am not a huge fan.... But hey, I was on a food tour so I was going to try everything! Thank goodness I did, because this arancini was the stuff of dreams. How in the world could something be THAT much better than what high end Italian restaurants advertise? The last time I had an arancini ball was at a restaurant in Hawaii that won "best Italian food in Hawaii".... And it was only so-so. This arancini ball would make me fly 5,000 just to eat it again! Next up was a deli sub, a coffee shop, ravioli, a pastry shop and lastly an affogato (or gelato if you didn't want coffee that late in the day). Based on the food I received, before factoring in all the stories that Anthony shared, I feel the tour was really underpriced. I wish I hadn't done this the tour on my last day, I would have gone back for another round of everything we tried, as well as everything that was recommended. Heck I may have signed up for the tour again just to experience it all over again!

Apparently COVID-19 has suspended all Freedom Trail Foundation led tours at the moment (summer 2021) so was looking for something to engage our kids' interest while we walked Boston's Freedom Trail. Let's face it... just walking and looking at the Freedom Trail will be absolutely boring to most kids. Tour guides in normal clothes & just talking to us... PASS! Donning historically accurate clothing and talking with an accent, and website claims of "good at engaging young people"... HUZZAHHH! Winner, WINNER! Setting up the tour over the phone was not difficult at all. Phone calls were returned promptly. Donald Watson was the point man for organizing the details of our jaunt on The Trail. We were even allowed to alter the start time to facilitate additional commitments later in the day. Flexibility! Thank you!! When the Freedom Trail day arrived, we finally met Mr. Watson in person, and he was quite the cheery chap! Donned in clothing that was circa 1776 and sportin' an accent that was easily understood. He took the role of Sons Of Liberty member James Otis. Allowed us some time to finish our on the run breakfast too, before starting our tour at the Boston Common Visitor Center. We confirmed everyone was COVID-19 vaccinated, so... Everyone ready?!? YES! And off we went! Good pace to the walking tour, never felt rushed, always waited for everyone to catch up before talking, answered all questions with an obvious depth of knowledge! Had us all yelling "FIE!" And "HUZZAH!" throughout the tour as we hit 11 of the Freedom Trail sites. We finished at Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market, all VERY happy our experience, all exuberantly saying "FIE!" when Mr. Watson announced "We've reached the end our tour." HAH! All the families wanted to get pictures with Mr. Watson, cuz we "kinda" enjoyed our jaunt with him way too much ;) VERY EASY RECOMMENDATION!
