This was an amazing tour! We were a group of 6 - half of us were excited to go and the other half begrudgingly tagged along lol. At the end of the tour, the skeptical three loved it and were wishing they had done this along time ago!! This was a fun and interesting experience in Boston! We actually took the tour on Halloween night which added an additional spooky factor. We booked it several weeks ahead through Viator which was an easy process. The meeting place is outside next to the first burying grounds on the tour. It would've been good if the gathering place had been at an office or indoor waiting room so people could access a restroom before starting off. The group was very large but was broken up into two smaller groups. The tour was about 90 minutes and included a variety of stops with associated spooky stories. Our guide was friendly and had a fun personality and a lot of local knowledge. We didn't see any ghosts, and apparently the hotel on the tour doesn't allow the tour to go inside anymore. Even if you don't like ghosts, this is a good tour to see famous Boston sights and learn about the city! read more

I booked this tour with my dad as we had never been to Boston before and I wanted to get a better lay of the city before spending the week there. He had never done a ghost tour before but this is probably the fifth one I've done or so. For only $21/person, I would say this tour is well-worth the price, especially if you've never been to Boston before or just aren't familiar with Boston history. I am not a fan of super gimmicky tours where the guides try to be too theatric or the tour has costumed actors so this tour was perfect for me. Our tour guide, Zach, did wear black and have a battery powered lantern which was just enough and he was such an engaging storyteller. You could tell he was passionate about the tours he gives and has so much historical knowledge of the area, which is what a lot of the tour was. The tales had a spooky flair, of course, by explaining the circumstances around which many of the ghost sightings in Boston could result from. I feel like we also got some historical knowledge that we wouldn't have gotten otherwise. The tour group itself was a nice mix of different age groups, probably about 15 people or so. Since I was pregnant, I kept good company with the older adults and my dad who walked a bit slower but there were lots of breaks after walking and most of the walk was fairly flat. We even finished the tour outside the Omni Parker House Hotel, home of the Boston cream pie, and my dad and I had a great time going inside and exploring. I had my tour with Katie and it was amazing! Our group was pretty big, but Katie did a great job of keeping everyone together and talking loud enough. I love haunted history tours that are cool and don't have jump scares. I just really enjoy darker parts of history so it's lovely to just hear stories without worrying about someone jumping out or screaming. I liked Darren weaving in interesting historical stories too. If you want something a little more spooky, or supernatural, this may not be for you. My first walking tour in Boston. I've lived here 2 years and love soaking up all things Boston. I'm also a HUGE fan of all things spooky. That being said, I've learned that yours are only as good as their tour guides and the knowledge they have. I could tell our tour guide, a man self proclaimed to be in his 50s and has lived in Boston his whole life, was very passionate about Boston; a must for all Boston tour guides. But the stories he told, all at specific locations mainly around the Common were a bit long and drawn out. Details that weren't that important and seemed to take forever to get to the main point. I still learned things I had yet to know, and don't worry, no spoilers here! But it just left me wanting more. There was nothing very spooky AT ALL about it unless you count standing next to a cemetery at night while listening to a really really old tale about that cemetery, spooky. But if you walk around in Boston at night, or really any suburb I've come to realize, you've likely walked right by an extremely old cemetery already. It definitely wasn't worth the "discounted" $36/2 people plus an obligatory tip. I've been on much better Free/tip what you feel it was worth walking tours that lasted even longer and so much more information. Bottom line, not a good value for the money. read more

First things first; this tour was great!!! The tour guide, Erin, was this amazingly witty and funny woman who really brought Boston to life (pun intended!!!) With that said, there are just a few points that needed to be mentioned to make this review helpful to other people; 1-There is a ghost hunting tour offered in Boston, but this isn't it. I repeat: THIS IS NOT A GHOST HUNTING TOUR. It is a historical tour taking you to sites that many people considered to be haunted. You will not be walking around with ghost hunting equipment, but instead you will be going around to real sights, hearing about the real people who lived there, and hearng really accounts of hauntings (not stories made up for drama). 2-If you do not like history or hearing people talk, you won't like this tour. Our tour guide was hilarious, and that alone brought life to the evening, however, it is still grounded in historical events; very interesting and odd events, but history all the same. The sights themselves aren't spectacular, it is the stories behind the sights. If you just want to see impressive things then this isn't the tour for you. 3-It is not scary. It may be a little creepy depending on what creeps you out. It starts in a graveyard and your obviously are standing on places where people have died, but nothing is going to jump out at you, and no one is going to be trying to scare you. Like I said, I LOVED this tour, but I did my research first. My friends didn't particularly enjoy themselves because they wanted something more adventurous but that is not how this is advertised. Highly recommend! My husband and I had a really great time on this tour! We've never done a tour like this so we weren't sure what to expect. We got an evening stroll through the common and in to beacon hill AND we learned really interesting things! Our tour guide was Erin and she was knowledgeable and very animated. A GREAT story teller. Coming from California, we were ready for a Haunted Tour that wrapped up our day in an exceptional way. Brice set the scene as the sunset he was creative, interesting and a well spoken tour guide. I would recommend him as a worthy guide. We enjoyed many of his tales but especially those culminating with the Parker Hotel which seemed to correspond to our experience with the Haunted Mansion. The meeting place was in the Central Burying Ground by Boston Commons. Our tour guide Jeff was very friendly and entertaining. He wasn't wearing any costumes, but his stories made up for it. Based on historical facts he gave us a tour of the people that have died in the Central Burying Ground and in the park itself. From the witches that were hanged in the park to the children that still roams "supposedly" where they were buried. Was it scary in a "it makes you scream kind of way"? No. But it definitely makes you think about ghosts and the people that have died in Boston Commons. read more

Highly recommend, even if you have taken tours of the city before. This tour is sure to show/ tell you some things you that you haven't already discovered. I took the tour with Meaghan and she was an awesome guide. The entire hour and a half was very captivating. Although this is a walking tour, you don't do a lot of walking and you definitely aren't walking for the entire time so don't worry about that. I've done a few of the more popular tours in Boston, and I have to say this is one of my favorite ones. Generally, the history should speak for itself with no gimmicks needed, and that's exactly the way Kurt approached the tour. He put on a wonderful performance that brought a great balance of humor and scares to the tour.
