This was a fun and interesting experience in Boston! We actually took the tour on Halloween night which added an additional spooky factor. We booked it several weeks ahead through Viator which was an easy process. The meeting place is outside next to the first burying grounds on the tour. It would've been good if the gathering place had been at an office or indoor waiting room so people could access a restroom before starting off. The group was very large but was broken up into two smaller groups. The tour was about 90 minutes and included a variety of stops with associated spooky stories. Our guide was friendly and had a fun personality and a lot of local knowledge. We didn't see any ghosts, and apparently the hotel on the tour doesn't allow the tour to go inside anymore. Even if you don't like ghosts, this is a good tour to see famous Boston sights and learn about the city! read more

Put your guide was Rachel, she was excellent. She was well informed and engaging! She kept a nice pace, if you would like to stroll, she's not the door guide for you. read more

I'm literally scared of everything so I almost didn't come but I'm so glad I did. It isn't actually horror scary. It just has a spooky theme but the experience itself is still like a historical tour. For whoever is out there deciding whether or not to go because you don't know if you'll be scared, I say do it. The tour guides are awesome and it's cool to go around the city and learn fun history (some on the spooky side and some on). read more

Jarrod gave our group a great ghost tour of Boston. Across a dozen or so stops we heard about haunted subway lines, hanging trees, a witch, a banshee, and a gruesome highwayman. Excellent evening! read more

It was so cool- and although it was a walking tour it wasn't strenuous. Our guide was Zach(I think) it was the 8:00pm May 2nd tour. He was informative and creative. I would do this tour again. read more

Haunted Boston Ghost Tours - Our guide - Tours Near Me

I booked this tour with my dad as we had never been to Boston before and I wanted to get a better lay of the city before spending the week there. He had never done a ghost tour before but this is probably the fifth one I've done or so. For only $21/person, I would say this tour is well-worth the price, especially if you've never been to Boston before or just aren't familiar with Boston history. I am not a fan of super gimmicky tours where the guides try to be too theatric or the tour has costumed actors so this tour was perfect for me. Our tour guide, Zach, did wear black and have a battery powered lantern which was just enough and he was such an engaging storyteller. You could tell he was passionate about the tours he gives and has so much historical knowledge of the area, which is what a lot of the tour was. The tales had a spooky flair, of course, by explaining the circumstances around which many of the ghost sightings in Boston could result from. I feel like we also got some historical knowledge that we wouldn't have gotten otherwise. The tour group itself was a nice mix of different age groups, probably about 15 people or so. Since I was pregnant, I kept good company with the older adults and my dad who walked a bit slower but there were lots of breaks after walking and most of the walk was fairly flat. We even finished the tour outside the Omni Parker House Hotel, home of the Boston cream pie, and my dad and I had a great time going inside and exploring. Plus, we each got a piece of pie and my dad got a Boston cream pie martini. Overall, a wonderful tour and exactly what I was hoping it would read more

I had my tour with Katie and it was amazing! Our group was pretty big, but Katie did a great job of keeping everyone together and talking loud enough. I love haunted history tours that are cool and don't have jump scares. I just really enjoy darker parts of history so it's lovely to just hear stories without worrying about someone jumping out or screaming. I won't spoil any sites or stories, but so fun to learn about Boston in this way. The walk was a great pace and the stops along the way are perfectly spaced. I would recommend whether you are living here or just visiting! read more

I am on a school trip for the week, and could not wait for this Ghost Tour in Boston! Josh our guide for the tour was really good! Josh made things interesting and fun, without making you really tired from walking. Not to mention his perfect outfit for the occasion and cool haircut! I really do recommend having Josh as your tour guide for the Ghost Tours in Boston! read more

A very fun experience! Well worth the money ! The actors made it a wonderful experience. They are great story tellers, engaging with a perfect mix of humor with history! Highly recommend ! A special nod to the drivers as the worked the Boston traffic perfectly! If you are looking for a fun tour this is it! read more

Our family really enjoyed the tour. It wasn't all fantastic stories of orbs and silliness. It was a well researched presentation of interesting facts about some of Boston's macabre past. I liked Darren weaving in interesting historical stories too. If you want something a little more spooky, or supernatural, this may not be for you. If you want a nice laid back tour with some interesting facts about the area and some dark history, this tour was very good. read more

My first walking tour in Boston. I've lived here 2 years and love soaking up all things Boston. I'm also a HUGE fan of all things spooky. That being said, I've learned that yours are only as good as their tour guides and the knowledge they have. I could tell our tour guide, a man self proclaimed to be in his 50s and has lived in Boston his whole life, was very passionate about Boston; a must for all Boston tour guides. But the stories he told, all at specific locations mainly around the Common were a bit long and drawn out. Details that weren't that important and seemed to take forever to get to the main point. I still learned things I had yet to know, and don't worry, no spoilers here! But it just left me wanting more. There was nothing very spooky AT ALL about it unless you count standing next to a cemetery at night while listening to a really really old tale about that cemetery, spooky. But if you walk around in Boston at night, or really any suburb I've come to realize, you've likely walked right by an extremely old cemetery already. It definitely wasn't worth the "discounted" $36/2 people plus an obligatory tip. I've been on much better Free/tip what you feel it was worth walking tours that lasted even longer and so much more information. Bottom line, not a good value for the money. read more

First things first; this tour was great!!! The tour guide, Erin, was this amazingly witty and funny woman who really brought Boston to life (pun intended!!!) With that said, there are just a few points that needed to be mentioned to make this review helpful to other people; 1-There is a ghost hunting tour offered in Boston, but this isn't it. I repeat: THIS IS NOT A GHOST HUNTING TOUR. It is a historical tour taking you to sites that many people considered to be haunted. You will not be walking around with ghost hunting equipment, but instead you will be going around to real sights, hearing about the real people who lived there, and hearng really accounts of hauntings (not stories made up for drama). 2-If you do not like history or hearing people talk, you won't like this tour. Our tour guide was hilarious, and that alone brought life to the evening, however, it is still grounded in historical events; very interesting and odd events, but history all the same. The sights themselves aren't spectacular, it is the stories behind the sights. If you just want to see impressive things then this isn't the tour for you. 3-It is not scary. It may be a little creepy depending on what creeps you out. It starts in a graveyard and your obviously are standing on places where people have died, but nothing is going to jump out at you, and no one is going to be trying to scare you. Like I said, I LOVED this tour, but I did my research first. My friends didn't particularly enjoy themselves because they wanted something more adventurous but that is not how this is advertised. It delivers what it promises though, and after reading the description you think it sounds good I promise you'll enjoy yourself. read more

This is definitely not a scary tour, however, it did include enough mentions of death and ghosts to keep me interested. Our tour guide was Harry, he wore a jaunty hat and was very knowledgeable. I would not recommend for young children or elderly who are not apt to walk and stand for 90 mins+ read more

Highly recommend! My husband and I had a really great time on this tour! We've never done a tour like this so we weren't sure what to expect. We got an evening stroll through the common and in to beacon hill AND we learned really interesting things! Our tour guide was Erin and she was knowledgeable and very animated. A GREAT story teller. It's definitely kid friendly but my husband and I did this as a date night and couldn't have been more pleased. Pro tip - order a Boston cream pie at the last stop! read more

This was an amazing tour! We were a group of 6 - half of us were excited to go and the other half begrudgingly tagged along lol. At the end of the tour, the skeptical three loved it and were wishing they had done this along time ago!! Our guide gave us historical context with each story he told me I knew fascinating details about Boston and the surround areas. From mass soldier graves to witch hangings and true crime stories - this tour has it all!! We even researched some of the stories after the tour - and they were all true!!! Spooky!!! we all highly recommend this adventure for you and your friends!! read more

The meeting place was in the Central Burying Ground by Boston Commons. Our tour guide Jeff was very friendly and entertaining. He wasn't wearing any costumes, but his stories made up for it. Based on historical facts he gave us a tour of the people that have died in the Central Burying Ground and in the park itself. From the witches that were hanged in the park to the children that still roams "supposedly" where they were buried. Was it scary in a "it makes you scream kind of way"? No. But it definitely makes you think about ghosts and the people that have died in Boston Commons. read more

I loved this tour! Our guide was Meghan and she was amazing! We walked all over the Boston Common into places I wouldn't think to get into. The stories she told were part history lesson and chilling at times. It was about 90 minutes altogether and took us from the Common to the Omni Parkland hotel (which also has a rich history of the Kennedys; check out Table 40 in the restaurant where Jack proposed to Jackie). read more

This was ok. It was more history than ghosty. Just depends what you're in the mood for.

Darren was our guide for this tour and we had a blast! We really enjoyed ourselves on our 5/21/2018 tour. We saw the big highlights of Boston; Boston common, Beacon Hill, Omni Hotel, the hanging tree... Darren was very engaging and quite a wealth of knowledge. If you can get on his tour, I recommend it! This was a fun night excursion and I recommend it to anyone visiting Boston. read more

Coming from California, we were ready for a Haunted Tour that wrapped up our day in an exceptional way. Brice set the scene as the sunset he was creative, interesting and a well spoken tour guide. I would recommend him as a worthy guide. We enjoyed many of his tales but especially those culminating with the Parker Hotel which seemed to correspond to our experience with the Haunted Mansion. And what could have been more exceptional than encountering the fourth generation descendent of Dyer walking up with her family just as Brice was explaining what an Anniversary Ghost was in the middle of the tour. All involved looked at each other surprised, as she walked down the road and disappeared into a further lane. read more

Our guide, Katie, was exceptionally knowledgeable and fun. She did a great job of making her spiel feel un-memorized but not un-rehearsed. Katie has a great sense of irreverent humor. Tour Guide: Darren- awesome storyteller I LOVEEEEEE going on tours and no lie but I am fascinated by ghost stories so with the best of both worlds, I bought a Groupon Deal for The Haunted Boston Ghost Tour. It is a hour and a half walking tour ( about less than a mile) through Boston Common. I know Boston has a lot of rich history and though I am from here, everything I learned was new. The tour is a combination of a history lesson and the ghostly encounters that has been documented in the news and researched/confirmed. We were so into it that RIGHT after the tour, we both wiki/googled more background information about the things we just learned. Now whenever I walk by Boston Common, it doesn't look the same to me anymore. read more

This was too cool. Too bad i didnt bring any of my ghost hunting equipment. Learned a ton of history about the city. I wanna say i got an orb at the cemetery. But not quite sure. Our Tour guide was super cool. Unfortunately I cant remember his name(lost the card and I was there about a month ago). But if I didnt live in California... i'd totally come back. read more

Katie was my tour guide and she was such a delight. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the haunting history that plagues Boston. My favorite story was that of Edgar Allen Poe. Very good tour! Katie was a great story teller and kept everyone engaged and intrigued as we walked. She is a wonderful speaker and has a fun sense of humor that brought quite a few giggles and belly laughs out of everyone. When she said we were heading to our last stop, I couldn't believe nearly an hour and a half had gone by! I personally didn't see or feel any ghostly presence, for those of you worried this will be too scary, rest assured it will not be. Thank you for taking us around Boston and telling us about the ghouly, gross, and grizzly history of this wonderful city, Katie! read more

This tour was amazing, so worth the money! Our guide was a great story teller, and very knowledgeable. I unfortunately can't remember her name but she did a great job! I just wish the tour was longer!! read more

Highly recommend, even if you have taken tours of the city before. This tour is sure to show/ tell you some things you that you haven't already discovered. I took the tour with Meaghan and she was an awesome guide. The entire hour and a half was very captivating. Although this is a walking tour, you don't do a lot of walking and you definitely aren't walking for the entire time so don't worry about that. I've done a few of the more popular tours in Boston, and I have to say this is one of my favorite ones. It's great to see the night view of the city and the common, the tour also uncovers a lot of the famous murders that happened in Boston, which are the types of things you would not get to learn on a typical city tour. read more

Being a very picky ghost tourist, I can safely say this is one of the best "haunted" tours I've been on. Generally, the history should speak for itself with no gimmicks needed, and that's exactly the way Kurt approached the tour. He put on a wonderful performance that brought a great balance of humor and scares to the tour. I've been on quite a few ghost tours, a few of the repeats with the same companies, and the tour guide makes all the difference. Great content but a cheesy guide ruins the whole experience. That was absolutely not the case here and I would 100% go on the tour again if Kurt was hosting. read more

The tour guide never showed up for our tour. I contacted them via their website and never heard anything back.

essentially, you're taken on a 90-minute walking tour to different areas of boston common and told stories of the past in the dark of night. the tour ended at the omni parker hotel. don't worry, our guide took us to areas which allowed us to sit during the tour as we listened to his stories. we picked this over the ghost and gravestones tour because that one looked cheesey. haunted boston didn't have any theatrics or cheese. our tour guide, jeff, was a great story teller. oh, yeah, it's half the price of the other tour so be sure to tip your guide generously. :) definitely worth $15 (with the $3 discount) to be spooked. :) read more

I'm sad to leave such a negative review, but when it's deserved it's deserved. Went on a tour last night with Harry and it was quite literally THE WORST ghost tour I've ever been on. I'm a ghost tour junkie so go in every city and country I visit. If I visit a place multiple times I'll do a different tour or if I really loved the tour (I'm looking at you York and Savannah) I'll do the same one again. This one *shudder*, this one was a train wreck. When your guide keeps telling you to go look up the stories yourself you know there's a problem. 90min of listening to Harry yammer and not one ghost story was told. NOT ONE STORY. I'm not kidding. The scariest thing I heard that night was a homeless lady with Tourettes. The best thing to happen was I discovered a cool exhibit on Lafayette at the Boston Athenæum, a place we stopped to hear that they had a book made of skin and then left. That's the kind of story you'll hear btw. A book made of skin...oooooh so scary. And that was pretty much the same delivery. "There was a book. It was made of skin. The end. Let's move along." I've heard other tour guides are good. In fact the one I was told we were supposed to have is supposed to be good. But Harry was a piece crap. Even his history was suspect. He can't tell a story and has no idea how to do this tour. Which really is on the owner of this companies fault. Who hires a guy like poor, incompetent, Harry? All in all I've taken 15 ghost tours in 9 countries and one was in broken English. And still, this one was the worst. read more
