My boyfriend and I were in Boston for a couple of nights and since we're always up for a ghost/haunted history tour, we chose to do this. Our guide, Jake, met us a bit early in the appointed spot. He handed us the ghost plushies we bought (a nice souvenir) and the EMF meters we rented, and since there were only four of us on the tour, he began early. I didn't find him very engaging and felt he was going for "jump scares" when telling the stories. Since it was evening, we could only stop outside or across the street from places we visited (except for the Boston Common, where we met). I did like the three extra stories on the extended tour. I recommend not renting the EMF meters, as we weren't really encouraged to use them. It seems Jake forgot about them as soon as he gave them to us. I turned them on a few times, but didn't get much of a result. It is a fairly short tour; we began around 7:45 and were done by 9:15. Wear comfortable shoes. You will be doing quite a bit of walking, including up a hill (that Jake joked was the scariest part of the tour). Whether or not you take the extended tour, you end up in a different location, so be mindful of that. It's not a must-do, but if it works with your schedule, it's a nice way to spend an evening. read more

Jarrod was our guide on Halloween night, and what a fun time we had! He's a terrific storyteller - the tour melded real history with spooky stories in a really entertaining way. I think it's important to note that I am not in the greatest shape, but I was still able to manage the walking just fine - the tour route has some slight uphill grades in a few places, but nothing unmanageable, and there are a few spots where you can sit and rest along the way. We got lost, and was late for our tour, but luckily, it was just us on this tour, so we didn't miss out! Lily was our guide, and she was fantastic. My wife and I went on this tour about a week ago to ring in spooky month after exploring the history of Boston during the day. Our tour guide Lily was amazing, despite some equipment trouble, and kept us engaged with the creepy stories and history of each location. The standard tour felt a little short (though perfect if you're not up for walking or have younger party members) but the extended tour was well worth the added price. The Ghost guide was great. It was a walking tour. We walked around a few blocks and stopped at spots and heard stories of deaths and ghost stories. They were so interesting. The story's where pretty scary I enjoyed that a lot. Our guide took us to many different areas in Boston by the end of the tour I walked about a mile. Definitely should wear comfortable shoes I would not recommend anything with a heel or flip-flops. The only thing I have to say is our tour guide could've done a better job of telling the stories historically he did a great job but it was a ghost tour expected a little bit more dramatic to make it a little bit more creepy or scary he stuttered a lot and seemed a bit nervous besides that it was pretty good. read more

While there were some good ghosts stories, the effect was somewhat ruined by pop culture slang that did not fit with 100+ years dead ghosts and political views. I tend to enjoy politics and had similar viewpoints to the tour guide, it's just not what I want to on my ghost tour. Let me start with the host! Jarrod, is a member of the Boston Historical Society. He knows sooo much. A great story teller. Talks about each location and it's historical facts then moves on to speak about the mysterious spooky legends. He narrates it all so well with perfect pauses and some acting to further your imagination. He carries his voice loud too over the Boston traffic which is much needed.
