My friend and I are in Boston for the week and decided to do a freedom trail tour. We were absolutely blown away by our experience. To begin, our tour guide Jeremiah Poope was one of the most brilliant and funny tour guides I have ever had. He could recite so many historical facts while keeping it very engaging. We went to very cool places. The graves of people like Sam Adams and Paul Revere, and saw places like the building where the Boston massacre happened. If you are visiting Boston, I 100% recommend coming here and taking this tour. Thank you Jeremiah!

Our guide, Francis Treate Paine was great. He kept my teens entertained and engaged for the whole tour. He was lively, interesting, and full of knowledge. Definitely a great way to get a Freedom Trail overview.

Captain Daniel Malcolm at the end of the tour. Kids loved it! Thanks again!

Capt. Daniel Malcolm? Thank you. This was, by a long shot, the best tour I've ever been on, and let me say, it wouldn't even be close to as good without our wonderful tour guide, Captain Daniel Malcolm (otherwise known as Josh Rudy). His humor and knowledge made him the best tour guide I've ever had. This tour was the highlight of my trip to Boston. If you're ever visiting Boston, and have the time, take a tour, and REQUEST DANIEL MALCOLM. Trust me, you will NOT forget it. The history combined with Cap. Malcolm's humor makes this a journey you won't forget. Thank you, Captain! Tour Taken 12/30/24

My family had a Sunday tour for the Freedom Trail, and it was a great way to kick off our Boston trip. This was one of the three tours we had in Boston, and unfortunately it wasn't the best one by quite a margin. While the price was fair, we were in a group of at least 60 (probably closer to 80) others and this weakened the quality of the experience. It became very hard to follow the group leader in such a crowd, and it was also hard to hear our tour guide for a decent proportion of the tour. I would have rather paid a bit more for a smaller-not necessarily small, but smaller-group. Our tour in Salem was much more enjoyable and this was one of the reasons why. I learned several interesting facts. Most notably, I learned that Italian immigrants had taken the tombstones of others to use as a pizza baking plate! I would have enjoyed to walk on my own and read up ahead of time, though. Our speaker was a high school history teacher who brought the subject alive, but her microphone broke very early in the tour. This further finished the quality of our tour.

So so much history in this city. Every corner, every building tells a story. Boston is just so historic and magical to me

Just a little glimpse of history right before your eyes! The Freedom Trail is the perfect testament to where we've been and to how far we've come. The trail itself is only about 2.5 miles long, but it stops along several significant historical landmarks that you'll naturally want to delve deeper into. The trail begins in the bustling Boston Commons park and ends at the striking Bunker Hill Monument. I started on the trail around noon and ended just before the sun went down around 6 pm. If you really want to explore each site in depth, you may want to split the trail over a couple days or go back to visit some of the landmarks on a different day. Since I was short on time, I decided to spend one whole day on the trail. But honestly, that was enough for me to really get a feel for the significance of this trail. The Freedom Trail passes through 16 prominent historical landmarks, but there are so many more stops that can easily be included too. I'd say the most compelling sites for me were Boston Common, Granary Burying Ground, Boston Massacre Site, Faneuil Hall, and Bunker Hill Monument. Although it's not implicitly listed as one of the sites along the trail, I also found the Holocaust Memorial to be very powerful, moving, and informative. As you walk down this path, you'll be met with some of the most gorgeous scenery in the city. Beautifully manicured gardens, bright city views, striking statutes, and stunning old buildings are just some of the lovely attractions that will grace your eyes as you walk along the trail. There's a wealth of information included here too as you can literally stop just about anywhere on the trail and find a placard detailing the history of the landmark that you're near. Best of all, a stroll along The Freedom Trail is absolutely free (as it should be)! Self guided tours are most popular as you can tour at your own pace, but you can also book a guided tour here as well (this information can easily be found online). Walking along the Freedom Trail was honestly a very humbling experience for me. I feel so honored and grateful to be able to experience this great piece of history that we as Americans so often take for granted. A walk along the Freedom Trail should be at the top of your list when touring Boston.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO EXPERIENCE THE FREEDOM TRAIL AND WANT TO TAKE A TOUR, YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE! This is the company you want to do the freedom tour with. I'm writing this review because I want to give a major shout out to our tour guide Jeremiah Poope. This man was INCREDIBLE! It was obvious he loves his job and is passionate about the history he was teaching. His tour was very interactive and spent the perfect amount of time at each location. We felt comfortable asking him questions and we truly enjoyed ourselves. I wouldn't do this tour with anyone else. If you want Jeremiah as your tour guide, he usually knows his schedule a week in advance. You can reach out to him on Instagram and ask his schedule. He's very kind and will let you know what dates and times he is doing his tours. Truly a great experience. This is the company to do the tour with. And make sure you go with Jeremiah !!!!!!!! Information about the tour: There are two main tours that cover the Freedom Trail. The most popular and the one I took was "Walk Into History". This covers the beginning 2/3 of the trail. The second tour is the "North End" tour, which covers the last 1/3. Unfortunately the North End tour is/was? seasonal so we couldn't do both. You can buy the tour online or in person. Online guarantees your place in case it sells out the day of, which I believe doesn't happen often? !!!!!!! VERY IMPORTANT !!!!!!! PLEASE READ Tickets MUST BE PRINTED in order to be accepted tickets are NOT VALID via mobile devices Tickets are non-refundable Tours depart rain or shine. During our tour it was raining and we still did the tour. No question about weather. They will depart on time

It's a dynamite experience from a guy who is not only a local, but I am pretty convinced he's the unofficial mayor of the neighborhood based on the number of people who said hello (and other stuff unsuitable for small children or church) to him as we walked the narrow streets. Now this tour may not be for everyone, as the title of the tour alludes to.. but if you don't mind the random swear word and aren't easily offended, you'll be like me... cracking up for 3 hours straight. And there was one thing I noticed about Anthony that he doesn't advertise, and may try to track me down for saying on here.... But beneath the gruff exterior was the sweetest guy that seemed genuinely interested in sharing his culture, stories, and amazing food with everyone! We started off at a pizza joint where we got a slice of pizza and an arancini ball. I expected the pizza to be good... and it was fantastic. But I am not a huge fan of arancini and this one had peas in it... also something I am not a huge fan.... But hey, I was on a food tour so I was going to try everything! Thank goodness I did, because this arancini was the stuff of dreams. How in the world could something be THAT much better than what high end Italian restaurants advertise? The last time I had an arancini ball was at a restaurant in Hawaii that won "best Italian food in Hawaii".... And it was only so-so. This arancini ball would make me fly 5,000 just to eat it again! Next up was a deli sub, a coffee shop, ravioli, a pastry shop and lastly an affogato (or gelato if you didn't want coffee that late in the day). Based on the food I received, before factoring in all the stories that Anthony shared, I feel the tour was really underpriced. I wish I hadn't done this the tour on my last day, I would have gone back for another round of everything we tried, as well as everything that was recommended. Heck I may have signed up for the tour again just to experience it all over again!

Our guide, Jake, met us a bit early in the appointed spot. He handed us the ghost plushies we bought (a nice souvenir) and the EMF meters we rented, and since there were only four of us on the tour, he began early. I didn't find him very engaging and felt he was going for "jump scares" when telling the stories. Since it was evening, we could only stop outside or across the street from places we visited (except for the Boston Common, where we met). I did like the three extra stories on the extended tour. I recommend not renting the EMF meters, as we weren't really encouraged to use them. It seems Jake forgot about them as soon as he gave them to us. I turned them on a few times, but didn't get much of a result. It is a fairly short tour; we began around 7:45 and were done by 9:15. Wear comfortable shoes. You will be doing quite a bit of walking, including up a hill (that Jake joked was the scariest part of the tour). Whether or not you take the extended tour, you end up in a different location, so be mindful of that. It's not a must-do, but if it works with your schedule, it's a nice way to spend an evening.

The tour is inexpensive ($5) and the house is gorgeous, with period furnishings mixed in with modern recreations. I would presume that the tour groups are typically small because it's not one of those "must-see" locations. Even so, it's right next to the Common (across from the Frog Pond), just a couple hundred feet from the State House so the location is very easy to find. Take the T to Park Street, for example, or park in the garage under the Common. The tour itself was led by a very friendly guide. Most of the tour seemed to focus on architecture or, more specifically, how the home changed over the years. I was not entirely interested; what usually drives me to visit a historic house is the person (or people) connected to it. In this case, I heard very little about William Hickling Prescott (a well-respected historian who was nearly blind) - up until the end. Inexplicably, there also was a focus on the American Revolution and how Boston was made up of landfill (neither aspects were relevant to this house). My guess is they were catering to the out-of-towners. Ultimately, I wouldn't call the Prescott House a hidden gem. But, it's worth a visit for folks that don't mind taking a few steps off the Freedom Trail (after all, there's more to Boston than a red line).

We were even allowed to alter the start time to facilitate additional commitments later in the day. Flexibility! Thank you!! They consider themselves a "community", and act as such. There are NO lines for anything at the WLP. The women are served their meals at their tables by volunteers, and their materials are bussed for them once they are done, unless they choose to self-bus. The food. Oh heavens! WLP prides itself on serving nourishing, FRESH food. Each meal will have all nutritional requirements met, and there is always a veggie option. We're not talking canned goods or sandwiches here, folks. No, this is chopped and diced fresh veggies, prime cut meats, the finest ingredients. If you're a good cook and after you've volunteered a few times, they are happy to let you get in the kitchen and help whip up stuff. The resident chef there, Gina, is wonderfully creative in the kitchen (and very nice), and from time to time, other professional chefs from local restaurants come in to put together a meal. The WLP isn't jsut a food place, although that's the highlight of the day. It also provides the women with full time advocacy support to help with finding housing, food, or other services. There is a computer room/resource room that the ladies may use. There is also a nap room where women can go to get sometimes some much needed rest, and also a quiet room for just some peace, solitude, and maybe reading or reflecting. Women are also able to get various toiletries and clothing that they may need. They may do their laundry and take showers. The Program Manager, Heather (also very, very nice and competent) has done a great job of making sure that there are interesting activities for guests if they choose to participate: yoga, painting, field trips, knitting, etc. Since the WLP is run as a "community", the staff are INCREDIBLY patient with the women, and if a guest is being disorderly or breaking a rule, she is not immediately tossed out, but is counseled and given more than one opportunity to redeem herself by correcting her behavior. Throwing someone out is a last option at the WLP. WLP treats its volunteers as the valuable commodity we are. We are appreciated, thanked, and made to feel a part of the "team". Added Perk: They also have really incredible volunteer thank you events! I enjoy volunteering here. I learn something new and meet new people each time I go. I don't have a lot of spare time to volunteer, but when I do, the WLP gets me all the time, every time. It's important to know that this place could not be so great without us- the community at large supporting it through donations, volunteering, contributions, etc. The staff, Regina, Linda, Joanna, Lauren, Linnie, and Cheryl are terrific- go meet them!
