We went on a tour yesterday and our guide was Scott Severance. It, and he, was amazing! Scott was so knowledgeable, and you could tell he really cared about the history, what he was talking about, and was really into it the whole time. I was intrigued and entertained the whole time, never felt boring for a minute, and didn't want it to end honestly. I would definitely recommend this tour, and while I'm sure all your tour guides are great, would 1000% recommend taking it with Scott! read more

We had Jonathan. Have seen a lot of good reviews about other tour guides so was hoping for the best but he missed out a lot of stuff that should've been included which was a bit disappointing! He also asked for tips before the tour started ( to be given at the end) but feels like an end of tour thing rather than start the tour with asking for money without knowing if he's a good guide or not. The first thing he said was the tour pride themselves on never telling a fabrication but there was multiple times something he said was incorrect. Also, when we were at the witch trials memorial, about 7 or 8 of us could not see or hear him, which he knew, and did nothing about. Feels like he should check in with everyone if they can hear but there was no room to even put a hand up in the dark so we actually ended up leaving ( it was the last stop ). This feels like a bad review but it isn't! We did genuinely have a great time and loved learning more and seeing things in real life. Was super rainy so the only other people on the streets were other tours. Really wish we got a different tour guide because there seems to be amazing reviews on other guides! read more

We are very disappointed with this companies customer service. We are on vacation and new to this town but this company confined us to a time limit with out any grace period. We arrive exactly at 9 pm but there was a long line. So it was our mistake to assume that it was the 9 pm group. It wasnt until we ask if it was the 9 pm group to a person in line and we were told it was the 930 pm group. This company is only for profit and not for customer experience. We booked the Salem Night Ghost Tour. The day before our tour, I received an email from the company with a contact phone number letting us know if there's any issues with the booking to contact them. Some other instructions were in there for the booking and that they were excited to see us. I realized that I had made a mistake in my booking, and I called the phone number immediately. No answer. I texted the phone number No reply, I replied to their email. Also no reply. I continued all three forms of communication that night. No reply. The next day, which was the day of our tour, I called and I texted almost every single hour of the day. No reply. I had accidentally booked the 6 p.m. tour when I meant to book the 8 p.m. tour. I was hoping they could accommodate the switch to the 8 p.m., as we had dinner reservations at 6 that I could not change. When it got closer to our scheduled tour time, and I still had no answer, I decided to go back on Viator and rebook the 8 p.m. tour, purchasing the tickets a second time. There was absolutely room for us in the 8 p.m., as I was able to book a new set of tickets. After dinner, we showed up at the tour. I went inside to check in, and an extremely rude person named Charlotte was there to greet me. I walked up to this person with a smile while they asked for my name, which I gave, and then proceeded to mention how I had been trying to contact them for two days via phone, text, and email, and that no one was answering any of my messages. Her response was, Oh, what a shame, And I said, Yeah, I accidentally booked the 6 p.m. tour and was hoping to move to the 8 p.m. She then proceeded to cut me off mid-sentence and say, Well, it's a good thing you're here now. To which I replied, Yeah, only because I had to buy four tickets a second time because no one would answer my phone calls. She cut me off again and said, Well, we don't give refunds, and shoved my tickets toward me. And that was the end of that conversation. She was so incredibly rude, and honestly, it had nothing to do with the money. I just wanted a response from the company. They provided a phone number to be able to reach out to them with any problems, which I'm not sure why, because they won't respond to you anyway. The next day, I decided to go back to the location and ask for a manager, to which I was informed that Charlotte was the manager. I asked if there was anyone above Charlotte, and they said, Yes, Tim, the owner. I asked the girl to please get Tim for me. When she radioed, Charlotte answered the radio and said that Tim was busy and What do you want? I told the girl, Never mind, I do not want to speak to Charlotte. Could you leave my phone number for Tim? The girl had mentioned that she overheard my conversation with Charlotte last night and she apologized for what had happened, though she was a brand new employee herself. She took down my name and number for the owner. That was over a week ago. Still no answer, not even from the owner. Maybe a one-star review will get their attention. The tour itself was good. Our tour guide Johnny was a great tour guide, but the customer service for this company is horrible. I live and work in a tourist city, and where I'm from, we absolutely do not treat our tourists this way. And like I said, before, this was never about the money. This was about how we were treated, and the fact that the company refuses to answer their messages or have any sort of customer service. There are so many other tour groups in Salem, so I suggest finding a different one. read more

He did a great job of humanizing the people he was telling us about so that the history felt alive, which was a perfect compliment to the ghostly stories he shared. It was a waking tour which is fine but only about 5 places were stopped and talked about. I was hoping for more. The thing I found bothersome was that she randomly told a story about a person in her neighborhood who set their baby down in the car seat on the driveway behind the car and then got in the car themselves... I'm sure you guess what happened. Sad and totally irrelevant to what the tour was about and there were kids during this tour. Inappropriate. I recommend saving your money for a different tour. We really enjoyed our Salem Night Tour with Bobby Kerrigan. Our tour was very informative and entertaining. We enjoyed that this was more of a history tour than a ghost tour, although Bobby pointed out a few of the major "haunted" spots in town and explained their back story. We went in February and it was cold and snowy. We enjoyed braving the elements and it also means there are very few tourists around. Penelope was a great tour guide extremely knowledgeable and hilarious! I went on the antivalentine tour bus in February and i was surprised that the trolley was very warm and had all windows up so was comfy! I got a little gift bag and learned a lot of fun things and we even got out for a few minutes to see a courthouse and feel immersed in the adventure. 10/10 would reccomend and lasted a good amount of time. would go again! read more

Talk about the cherry on top of our day in Salem! Elaina was an amazing tour guide, very funny, dry humor and super sarcastic! Her story telling was great and I loved learning more of the history and the possibility of catching a ghost on camera. One recommendation is to get their EARLY. If you go in October get there at least 30 minutes before your tour and any other time during the year I'd try and get there 20 minutes before. We did start our tour early which was fine but a few people were not happy... HOWEVER, Elaina turned it around real quick and everyone was spooked, laughing and interacting by the end! We were able to squeeze into this tour last minute and I'm glad we did because it was informative as it was entertaining. However, there are a few things you need to know before going. They have multiple tour guides all focusing on the same locations but with their own flair. For example, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, but he did not dwell on the details. Instead, he gave more of a historical overview of each location and later tied it to the supernatural, which was great because I'm more about the history than the supernatural stuff. Other guides that I overheard gave more of a dramatic retelling of certain stories tied to certain locations. So, it's a dice roll for what flavor of tour guide you and your group will receive. You can only purchase tickets online and once you do the email will tell you to meet at 127 Essex Street 30 minutes prior to the tour start time. It is crucial that you do just that because they will start early if most people are present. I highly recommend this tour and I recommend you do it early in your visit so that you and your party can truly appreciate Salem throughout your entire trip. Also, so you can pinpoint what locations you want to revisit prior to leaving. Tours and trolleys are truly the best way to get to know the location you're in, especially in the short amount of time you're there. read more

First of all we did enjoy our walking tour of Salem with Penelope. She was both entertaining and knowledgeable. The issue we had was the ticket, we were told if we didn't get them ahead of time they would sell out, so we purchased them for 30 dollars a piece not including taxes and "fees", when we arrived at the pick upspot, they were being sold for 20$ each. That is a crazy difference, when we asked about this they said it was due to online fees... a couple dollars I can understand but over 10$ per ticket was a rip off. My advice is to NOT buy them online. read more

This tour was a little more ghost-oriented than history-oriented, but I still learned a lot about things that happened during the trials and the people of Salem. I appreciated that he didn't sensationalize the events of the trials and that he centered the accused and their experiences. He took time to answer questions and was interested and welcoming to everyone in the group. We only had one afternoon and evening in Salem and didn't have a chance to go to any of the museums, so I'm glad we were able to take this tour and get some of the history and sense of the old city. read more

My fiancé and I didn't get to experience the tour unfortunately although we paid for it. I'm slightly confused as to why tickets are eligible for sell the night of-if there's a strict policy that if you're late, you will miss the tour and not be eligible for a refund (we saw the policy on the tourist stand upon arrival). We purchased 8pm tickets at 8pm. We came up to the tourist stand close to 8:03pm where there was no staff to be found. We were under the impression that if we were "allowed" to purchase tickets at 8pm when the tour starts that there would be a few minutes to spare- a few literally. We were super disappointed. This was our first time in Salem. I would suggest making it to where tickets CANNOT be purchased online once a tour is started, close to starting etc to prevent this from happening to someone else. read more

Our tour guide (Katie) asked us to "stop recording the tour because it makes me feel like I'm in a fishbowl". My wife and I do these tours all over the country & this is the first time we've had this issue. If this is a policy or your company, you should make it known at the time of purchase. This is also the only tour we've ever been on that doesn't actually take you to the place of paranormal activity. Most of the tour was her stopping infront of random buildings and saying "Look across the street at that parking lot, now find the blue dumpster in the back left corner, behind that is a street that leads to a haunted cemetery".... Seriously? And then to ask us to not record, nothing you are showing us is proprietary info or property privately owned by your tour. This was a joke. Do better.  Most of these tours encourage recording and photos. read more
