I had a great time on my ghost tour with Sam. It was a little awkward as I was the only one on the tour. In a way, I'm thankful they still ran the tour, but on the other hand, I wouldn't have minded if they had re-scheduled. Being the only one on it made it a little awkward. That said, Sam was great and theatric and was a blast, you can tell he really likes what he does. I didn't seem to catch any ghosts in the pictures I took, but overall, I still enjoyed myself and had a better time on this tour than I did on another I took with a different company earlier in the year. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. We had the worst tour experience you can imagine in Salem, MA. Here's just a sample: We received a text from our tour guide, Jon, at 5PM reminding us of our meet up spot and time - 210 Essex Street at 5:45pm for the 6pm tour. He said he'd be wearing a tan cap and black hoodie, which was not what the email confirmation said he'd be wearing (a marked US Ghost Adventures shirt and holding a lantern). When we arrived at the meetup spot at 5:45pm, Jon was there as described in his text, and smoking a cigarette. We were apprehensive to approach due to him not looking like a professional tour guide, until we saw him talking to another couple that was on the tour. When we approached him to check in for the tour and ask if he needed to see our tickets, he joked around saying that he trusted us and never asked to see ID, scan our tickets, or any indication that we were supposed to be on this tour. He did the same thing with another couple that approached him for the tour - never asked for their tickets or checked them in. From the beginning of the tour, nothing was as expected: - At the start of the tour he asked US what tour this was... he should probably have that information. He also asked us where we wanted to go and see - shouldn't he be telling us that? - Nothing about his stories described the historic nature of the time - His stories were confusing and long-winded, never hitting any historical facts - We barely walked anywhere in the town. At one point we were in a parking lot looking at a new construction building 300 feet away and at another point we were looking into people's windows at an apartment complex where the prison once stood. We were not shown any main attractions that were advertised on the website The tour was supposed to end at 7pm and by 7:15pm we were down near the subway station with no end in sight. The final straw was when he told us all to walk ahead to Howard Street so he could hang back and have a cigarette. My sister is pregnant and our entire family did not appreciate the lack of respect and professionalism and at that point decided to leave the tour. Traveling all the way from California, we had one day to spend in Salem. We planned our entire day around this tour and it completely wasted our time and was not what we expected at all. We left feeling like we were taken on a tour by a random local scam artist. Do not take the risk with this company when there are so many other reputable tour companies out there. Also, when I notified the company of this horrible experience all they did was give a 50% refund and offer to send us on another one of their horrible tours. Terrible customer service on top of a terrible tour. Disappointment all around. read more

I am not going to add pictures here so I do not spoil anything about the tour, but I thought this was a fun and interactive way of exploring Salem and learning more about its haunted history. PRO TIP: If you're doing an evening tour, PLEASE bring thick sweaters, scarves, etc. I am from California and I was struggling throughout the entire trip because of the cold and windy breeze. This walking tour takes you to a variety of places and buildings that are also top tourist attractions of the town. You get to learn more about its history, fun facts, and a snippet of a ghost-haunting experience that occurred in each building. We also added the EMF meters for our trip, but somehow everyone also got it. The tour guide was passing it around without checking if the person paid for it or not. Maybe everyone in the group added it for their tour? I'm not sure what happened, but the EMF meter did not go off at all during the entire tour. The tour guide did mention in the beginning that not all tours will have ghosts detected. That would be so cool though! Nonetheless, our tour guide was phenomenal. He was very lively and vibrant with his stories. I really learned a lot about Salem, its haunted past, and the Salem Witch Trials. read more

This is the second tour that we have been on with this location. First one was great. This one however failed us on soo many levels. First thing was when our tour guide arrived, he stated that he didn't have time to look over what kind of tour it was be cause he was called in on his day off. The whole tour seemed rushed . He said our usual tour takes about 1 hour 30 minutes and we travel about 1.5-2 miles, but I'm not in the mood for that so we will do the 1 miles for 1 hour. We visited 4 locations and on our last location he told us that we had 9 minutes left of the tour and we could ask questions if not we were free to go, total time after starting late was 47minutes. We inquired if he was doing the extended tour which was an would have been an additional 4 locations and 30 minutes be ignored us ( by the way we paid of it ) but he did not forget to mention on multiple occasions that they make their living off of tips. Overall not happy and not impressed especially since we paid for 5 people and 5 extended tours when we only got1/3 of what we paid for . And it has been a week and customer service has not contacted me back read more

I just found the loud motorcycles and loud music from cars unfortunate with this sort of experience. Laina was a great story teller and quite knowledgeable and well spoken. We went on the tour back in the Summer of 2022, so hopefully things have changed since then. I'll start out by saying that the tour itself was nice and we did enjoy it! The tour guide did seem pretty knowledgeable about stories, events, history, and landmarks. I would even go as far as to say we probably would go on this tour again. However, we were extremely disappointed with the business' lack of organization. One of the main selling points for us, the reason we chose this tour as opposed to the number of others was because of the add on options. We paid extra to rent some "ghost hunting" equipment, we paid extra to go to 4 additional locations, and we paid extra for some mini ghost plush souvenirs. The reasons we say the business had lack of organization follows: 1- The tour guide was late, like close to thirty minutes late. Then she had to check us all in. 2- A lot of the Ghost hunting equipment was broken, missing pieces, and we were told to let her know if it wasn't working right. (How are we to know if it's working or not working accordingly? Shouldn't that be something you test before a tour starts?) 3- She did not have the correct amount of Ghost plushies for everyone who purchased them (online in advance) so she randomly chose who to give the ones she did have on hand. I will say we got a few of the ones we ordered (We had multiple people in our party) and we did get a refund for the ones we didn't receive. However, again to us that was highly disappointing. That all took place the first ten or so minutes of the tour (after the thirty minute delay). So to say the least, we started out on a bad foot. The tour was great and it made up for it. I just hope that since then the business has gotten better about being more organized and on top of things. read more

This was the first thing we did in Salem and we could not have asked for a better introduction. Sam (our tour guide) was incredible; fun, friendly, and a master storyteller. Perusing through such a historic city at night is special in its own right, but Sam made it even better with his high level of enthusiasm and excitement for the subject matter. The intro was great - our guide mentioned the fires in the town, the under ground catacombs, and that the town's history was so much more than the witch trials. And then proceeded to tell stories about ghost experiences that could have been filler story (an event planner encountered the original owner of the building, a hotel guest had a ghost run through him), not the main stories. I didn't learn anything new, or hear anything about what made Salem special, spooky, witchy or ghost-y. I understand that tours like this are all about the tour guide, but this guide didn't seem to understand that we wanted a spooky story, not a long story. Super disappointed. read more

We have lived in the area our whole lives. My husband and I also lived in Salem for years and this was the first time we've done any ghost tours in Salem. We thought for fun we'd be tourists in our own backyard. Our tour guide, Simone was lovely and invited the guests to ask questions. She did a great job sharing history and haunts of Salem with a lot of facts woven in related to the witch trials. The tour lasted an hour and the route looped around to a variety of Salem landmarks. It was a beautiful night for a walk around Salem and fun for the whole family. This was not a cheesy, theatrical tour, even Salem natives might learn a few new, fun spooky facts about the city we know and love. read more

Booking & paying for the tour was easy. We enjoyed our tour guide (Bri) and the tour itself. Bri did a great job on the busiest day of the year (Friday, Oct. 13). I encourage anyone visiting Salem to take tours that interest you and learn more about the history, the culture, the people, etc. in addition to self-guided tours. We learned alot from our guide that we wouldn't have known otherwise. Seeing the places as you learn is such a bonus. I hope to visit again and again...... read more

I've been on many ghost tours in many different cities around the world, including other Salem tours. I prefer the ghost tours because night time offers a different perspective and the guides usually tell you more about real life in the city, both past an present. I thought this one was excellent. Our guide, Lexi, was great. She showed us the historical sites and explained the history without any phony theatrics that sometimes come with these kinds of tours. She spoke very clearly and everyone could understand her. Hearing the guide is often a problem on these tours due to city noise and crowd size. She did great without the need for headsets or anything like that. The other factor that made this a great tour was that she was very patient with my kids. They have recently gotten into ghost hunting and they were very excited to do this. They weren't disruptive on the tour, but between sites they talked her ear off about ghosts and experiences. I would have stopped them, but she didn't seem to mind. The kids absolutely loved the night walk they "saw" every ghost mentioned in the tour, and a few extra. She was really good with them. I hope they didn't annoy her too much. read more

Andy was very knowledgeable and shared so many interesting facts about Salem. We really enjoyed learning about the history of Salem and of course the possible haunted spots. The only downside of the tour was visiting the actual bars as they were often very crowded and it was difficult to get a drink. One of the bar owners indicated he wasn't aware of the tour stopping in. Not sure how to make that part of the tour better, and we managed, it was just a bit stressful at times. Our group was nice and small (about 10 people), we could ask questions without it being broadcasted over the loud speaker as some other tours have. Bring water if it is hot out and wear comfortable shoes as you do need to walk from place to place. go the bathroom before the tour starts the stores will not let you use their restrooms but the national park service center has restrooms but close at 4pm. read more

We came to visit Salem for Halloween and scheduled a tour with Salem Ghosts. Our tour guide texted us beforehand and was very communicative prior to the tour. Our tour guide, Simone, was excellent. She told stories in a very relatable way, and was careful about keeping her mask fully on and following COVID-19 guidelines. All of the stops were very exciting. Virtual tours were offered during the Covid-19 pandemic for ten bucks. While I thought Lexi was fantastic, there were quite a few technical difficulties, without much communication with the participants on the zoom app. At one point the zoom tour just ended and came back after about 10 minutes. No explanation or apology, although this is forgivable, as sometimes technology can be tricky. But I would probably have acknowledged the glitch. It was hard to hear Lexi at times and I commented to see if they could perhaps correct that. They did fix the volume issue for a little while, but then it became difficult to hear again shortly after the fix. Salem is such a cool place and I'm sure this tour is great in person. But there were some kinks to work out with the virtual version of it. Lexi did add a couple of bonus stories/stops, but the tour was still on the short side, being just under an hour when you factor in the glitches. They did ask if we had any questions at the end. I did have a question, but they ended the tour before answering it. I think there could simply be better communication between the guide and the person operating the camera to improve this tour. Otherwise, interesting stuff. Salem is a cool town. read more
