His estimate was 10% higher than I was budgeting for, but his level of communication and email response time was awesome and I liked his demeanor and professionalism more than the other builders that I got quotes from- so that sealed the deal. Obie built everything faster than expected with no compromise to quality. Our house was built in 1915 and many of the walls aren't plumb which makes installing builtins a bit tricky. Obie worked tirelessly on the install and came back an additional day to make sure it was done right. Very happy with how it all turned out!

In one case, this meant covering an office closet with a bookshelf and enlarging the MBR closet, which sat behind the office. We also wanted a hutch built in to match the look of our dining room. Altogether about four projects. Obie uses software to design and spec his jobs. It gave us confidence in the final look and feel and gave him confidence in his bid. He communicated frequently and well. We had been introduced by a mutual friend who runs a painting business, so he handled the painting, which was a big job. We would not hesitate to give Obie a call again.

My home is an upper unit of a 2 unit, 115 year old building in the Castro. You can see from the photos below that Gregory did a beautiful professional job on my project, working with the architect/designer who had suggested the built-ins, and responding to my particular requests. Fitting new cabinetry into an old wooden building required a lot of customization during installation, and Gregory was definitely up to the task - as mentioned by other reviewers he is easy to work with, creative, flexible, with an "incredible eye." He did all the installation and finishing himself (with a helper). To be fair, it took Gregory longer than he had estimated to make and install the cabinetry, but it was definitely worth the wait and he was very responsive and obliging throughout the process. The quality and value were top notch; the cost was about 50-60% that of the estimates I received from online cabinetry firms I contacted. Definitely a 5 star experience - thank you Gregory!

He is so incredibly easy to work with, creative, flexible, and has an incredible eye. He got a feel for our taste and made the benches fit aesthetically in our space seamlessly. It was not an easy thing to install either with the angles of the apartment. We could could tell it required a lot of skill and patience. We cannot imagine our space without them now. The bookcases on each side of the center chest piece was his idea too and it was such a clever use of space and it looks great. Truly, we cannot recommend him enough for his skill, taste, and he's really just the nicest guy. If we could get ten stars we would!! And his partner is awesome. They are the greatest team.

In addition, the door was worn and needed refinishing. Jeff did a fantastic job fixing all issues, and he did it in about two weeks! I was a little worried about security when he had to take the door to his shop for work, but he used plywood to cover the front door opening for those two weeks. It felt very secure. I had to enter the house from the back door, during that time, but it was a small inconvenience. The door is really beautiful now with the refinishing and darker stain. And it fits snugly and perfectly in the frame. The door now opens and closes very smoothly with no struggle or effort at all. I recommend Jeff highly. He was the perfect person for the job!

Greg Mullin turned our boring, rotting T1-11-clad house into the neighborhood showpiece in 60 days…read more To say Greg has an eye for detail is an understatement. He is a master carpenter and it shows in everything he does, just like one of the prior reviewers mentioned. And once he was done with the exterior, he designed and built a beautiful built-in bench in our front room with bookcase. (Photos to be posted shortly) He also painstaking ensured that the exterior would be properly waterproofed and was an excellent communicator for the duration of the project. Kudos to Greg for also working with us as we kept changing our mind and adding detail to the front. The results speak for themselves. Other reasons why Greg is amazing and you should hire him without a second thought (or even a second estimate): - Provided an accurate estimate for the work and stayed on budget. Extra work we wanted was done with our advance approval on a time and materials basis. - He does not impose any upcharge on materials he supplies. The materials were all direct billed to me at cost. - His guys (especially Justin) were fabulous. Not only great at carpentry, but just nice people who you don't mind lurking around scaffolding at your house. - He's not happy unless you are. Absolutely critical in someone you trust your home to. - He'll stand by his work and repair anything that fails due to workmanship. I don't know that I could recommend him more highly. You can't go wrong hiring him.

The…read morework included foundation anchorage, three stories of framing, window installation, and siding. I was thrilled with the quality of their work. They are master carpenters, and also strong communicators. As an architect I prepared the plans and HC Structural Engineers prepared the structural design which included a few specific connection details for large openings and two terrace decks. Greg and Scott are very competent with plans and were quick to resolve any constructability issues that arose. They prepared carefully for the necessary Department of Building Inspections, which passed, and also thought ahead to the eventual drywall and stucco work. Greg, Scott, and I had clear budget discussions before the project began and I am very pleased that they completed the scope of work exactly within the billable hours they had estimated. Working within a quoted budget and maintaining high quality craftsmanship are desirable qualities in carpenters and contractors. I would certainly hire Greg and Scott again as a homeowner, and I now frequently recommend them to clients.
