It is definitely a classic Austin location that I hope will be around forever! I don't drink beer but they had some great drink specials for those who do. One of my friends was able to get a non-alcoholic beer, the other had a beer, and I had a couple of topo chicos. I think you can also order food there, but we didn't order anything. They also have decent parking options if not in their lot, on the street so we didn't have to walk too far. And I appreciated that Jane was playing at an earlier time. Her band's songs were oldies but goodies and they got several people out on the dance floor! I hope to find myself at Carousel Lounge again soon!

Shouldn't be overlooked! Not sure anything has changed in 50 years! One man was bartender, cook, bubbles blower, popcorn maker, and friendly welcomer to all who entered or wanted to chat. Very spacious inside. Drink prices are of a bygone era- they only sell beer and wine for alcohol options. Sound equipment was good I'm told. A classic spot.

We came in yesterday about an hour and a half before a dinner reservation nearby to meet friends for a couple of drinks. I was very upfront with the host that we were a group of six, only planning to have drinks, and had a specific timeframe. She seated us on a couch and chairs right behind the host stand. We waited about 30 minutes before our server came over, which we were okay with. He took our drink order (didn't write anything down, but repeated it back), and the cocktails sounded great, so we were excited. However, after placing the order, we waited nearly another 30 minutes with no drinks. At that point, we were getting close to our dinner reservation and hadn't seen our server at all. I went up to another host (not the one who seated us) to ask about the status. She said she would check, but when she came back, she just smiled and didn't give us any update. Another 10 minutes passed, and my mother-in-law went up to her again and said we would need to cancel the drinks if they hadn't been made, since it had now been over an hour and we had reservations elsewhere. Still, no clear response or communication. At that point, we had to leave and were already running late. As we were walking out, the server finally came over and told us he had been planning to comp the drinks because of the delay, but that someone bumped into him and spilled all of them. Honestly, that explanation didn't feel believable. He was completely dry, and both my husband and I have worked in food and beverage. We understand mistakes happen, but this didn't add up. It felt much more likely that the order was forgotten and no one wanted to be honest about it. The space itself is beautiful, but the lack of communication and accountability was frustrating. Experiences like this make it hard to want to return. That said, if the situation had been handled differently, with honesty or even a simple acknowledgment it would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, as it stands, this visit left a pretty negative impression.

There is a large outdoor space and a very classy indoor area. I tried the burrata appetizer and it was nice! Everyone else's dishes looks great. The Baked Banana Pudding was the perfect sugary finish - we split between us four. Prices are a tad on the expensive side but the quality makes up for it. ($11-$18 for small plates, $22-$42 entree) The staff were lovely.

When I made our reservation a month in advance, I noted that we were celebrating our anniversary and asked for the best seating available. Despite arriving on a packed Thursday evening, we only waited about five minutes before being seated. The service was exceptional from the start, with our first round of drinks personally delivered by the lovely boss lady. We started with the Tomatini and the Solstice. I expected the Tomatini to be similar to a Bloody Mary, but it was surprisingly light, slightly sweet, and the basil gave it more of a fresh caprese-inspired flavor. It was unique and delicious. The staff noticed our initial table wasn't ideal for an anniversary celebration and graciously moved us to a much more intimate booth. While we waited for our food, they surprised us with complimentary bacon-wrapped dates and two glasses of bubbly to celebrate. Those thoughtful touches made us feel genuinely special. Thursday specials were another fun surprise. The $10 martinis were fantastic, and I loved the "Girl Dinner" special--a Caesar salad and fries. Cute, simple, and delicious. My $10 Cosmopolitan was excellent. For dinner, we shared the prawns, chili chicken, and lamb lollipops. My husband was especially impressed by the perfectly cooked lamb, but honestly every dish was outstanding. Between the intimate atmosphere, attentive service, creative cocktails, delicious food, and all the thoughtful anniversary touches, Devil May Care made our 20th anniversary celebration feel truly memorable. We'll absolutely be back.

Since it was new, it wasn't ever too crowded so getting (and keeping!) the attention of the bartender wasn't ever an issue. They have so many cute specials that I hope make a comeback when they do, like... Pass the Porrón everyday at 6pm! As is tradition in Spain (or so they tell me), the porrón (a drinking vessel created long ago as a way to share wine with friends) is passed around with a little white wine for everyone to indulge in (so you don't stain yourself trying to get it in your mouth!). Weekday Happy Hour from 4-6pm, where you can save yourself $2 on all wines by the glass. There's also $5 specialty cocktails that rotate every day of the week and then $5 select tapas. On Mondays, they offer half off wines by the glass after 6pm and on Tuesdays, half off all tapas starting at 6pm. There's a little balcony that wraps around the outside on the 3rd floor (I believe), so you can catch a beautiful sunset or just hang out inside with the velvet accents and library-esque vibe.

My boyfriend and I will go to Bike Farm next door for bike service. We've have a few beers at Little Longhorn etc, but this one time (4:30 pm on a Wednesday) we went in recently. NO ONE was in there and I set my bag on a barstool, of maaaaaany open barstools. An older man walks up and says' "I MADE THIS BAR WITH HOOKS so you can put your purse underneath. It wasn't what he said, it was how he said it with a condescending attitude and tone. I was apparently a menace or "youngin" being rude. I removed my purse from the stool and put it on the way too tiny hook for anyone's bag and then LITERALLY NO ONE sat there the next 40 minutes until we left. I'm always thoughtful, that if it's a crowded place, that I wouldn't take up a stool with my bag . Him, his comment and attitude were unnecessary. Whether he "built" the bar or not. Once during the week when friends brought us to some authentic Austin dive bars and then again on Sunday for bingo; which was really fun. The beer is basic domestic and imports. Again, it was really fun and authentically Austin.
