After a nice afternoon discovering the grounds of Schonbrunn Palace, we decided to stop at this lovely little cafe just off the main palace entrance for an early dinner before heading back to the subway and our hotel.
Service was a bit of a mixed bag with a wonderful host guiding us to a table but then an odd handoff with our server in the middle of the meal. Thankfully the food was quite good and the ambiance was lovely, which helped make up for some of the service shortcomings.
I had the Hungarian Chicken, served with a gnocchi-like pasta and it was quite delicious. I really didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. I finished it with a traditional Apple Strudel and while good, it could have been better, perhaps served warm. I was also a bit disappointed that the whipped cream and sauce were not included and were quite expensive, though maybe that was better for me in the end, calorically! read more
