This place is divine! So many choices and everything looks spectacular! This is the kind of spot that will have you coming back again and again. Beautiful, fresh, delicious fare and a friendly attitude.

The selection of desserts, coupled with the friendliness of the staff would be enough to recommend this place. The taste and reasonable prices make it a gem. I had one of the best apple strudels ever, along with a Wiener Eiskaffee (Vienna iced coffee) with ice cream and whipped cream that was amazing. A cozy, quiet oasis in the middle of downtown Vienna. Perfect for a quick bite of something sweet.

This is a lovely cafe in central Vienna. It's not far from several other notable cafes but this one deserves its high rating IMO. Sipping good coffee and eating delicious pastries are a common indulgence in this city and this place does the trick just fine. I had the cappucino and cream pastry and both were absolutely delightful. The pastry was fresh, flaky and very tasty. I'd definitely recommend this place simply for the edibles .. but the atmosphere is also wonderful. There are plenty of outdoor seats and the view of the square is rather lovely. The service is polite and there's also wifi here, which is a nice plus. Based on my experience this place definitely delivers and is a worthwhile place to chill and relax when you're in the area.

This was our first sacher torte and Viennese ice cream coffee stop during our trip to Vienna. I did not know what to expect and after my first bite I thought this cake is dry... Fortunately after trying sacher tortes at other cafes around Vienna, not all of them are dry. Service and ambiance were okay here. Nothing special.

Read about this place in a guidebook so we were leery it would be too touristy but not to worry. It was thanksgiving day at home so we decided to go for the 3 course lunch. Started with broth 'soup' with bread in it. Then came main dish with salad as well. Final course was small piece of chocolate layer cake. My main dish was fried cauliflower which was good but a bit unusual. It was served with tartar sauce. The other 3 with me got the pasta dish with ham. It was fairly good too. Our waitress was superb. She even wished us happy thanksgiving which you do not expect to hear in Vienna. The display of desserts when you walk in the door is mouth watering.

I think this is the less touristy cafe (not like demel or sacher) and I do like the torte here better I got Oberlaa kurbad torte. ---Juicy nut and nougat cake which was delicious. Kinda similar to demel tart but tasted much better And Sacher torte --- which in my opinion tastes better than the ones at demel or at the hotel sacher cafe. The texture is better less grainy and not too sweet. They used apricot jam in the middle to contrast the two chocolate cake layer.

This was one of the few cafes in Vienna where I had an enjoyable experience. I didn't have the cake of my life here - that would be in Venice, Paris, and good ol' New York - but the service was polite and professional here, there is no cigarette smoke inside, prices are fair, and the toilets are clean. Don't get me wrong - service is not friendly here - the ladies will not smile, but they are polite and respectful, which is good enough for Vienna. I had the Himbeer-Royal-Torte - raspberry tart/cake. I recommend coming very early, as the cafe gets very busy. Very nice, classy decor rather than fake and condescending.

i stumbled upon this cute cafe while walking around stephansplatz one evening when i was in vienna. while i didn't know it at the time, apparently this is one of many famous cafes in vienna, known for their coffee and their cakes/confectioneries. i sat outside because it was a gorgeous day, although i almost wanted to sit inside so i could stare at all their beautiful cakes on display. since i was hungry and looking for real food, i ordered the following: sacher sausages, black coffee, and apple strudel. i was most impressed with their sacher sausages. it comes with strips of horseradish (that's right, strips.. not as a cream sauce) and the combination meat + horseradish is tantalizing in flavor. sacher sausages, of course, are not unique to oberlaa and are served in most restaurants throughout vienna. but suffice to say, it was very good here. i'm not a big coffee drinker, nor do i claim to know anything about how good coffee is or should taste. all i will say is that even though i asked for black coffee, it still came with some creamer inside. but since it was a darker roast anyways, it didn't really mask the flavor of the coffee. excellent aroma, but pricey for a small cup of coffee (to be expected here). sadly, i was not impressed with the apple strudel at all. it was dry, it was cold, and it could've used more sugar or butter. or both. now, this is the first time i've ever had apple strudel overseas, and i understand it's different from what we have in the states. so if this is how apple strudel is supposed to taste, then good for them. however, in my eyes, this cafe doesn't live up to its claim to fame as a viennese coffee and cake house. perhaps i should've given their other cakes a try? maybe next time, oberlaa.

The best cakes I have ever eaten. There is always a place, sometimes you have to wait few minutes. The prices are higher, but worth it.

The restaurant is located in a round glass building. We entered and got seated immediately. It is a good spot for watching people and traffic outside, as the walls are all windows and it is located on a sort of corner between 2 semi-converging streets. They had a varied menu which included burgers, Asian soup, breakfast all day, etc. I got a salad which I enjoyed. I think both of the others got noodle soups which they also seemed to like. Service was good and prices seemed in-line with other local places. After lunch, there were convenient trams across the street to get us back to the vicinity of the Hofburg. I'd consider returning here for a meal if we were in the area.

There was a spread that included with an assortment of an egg, cheese, bread, spreads, meats and fruit. As a typical Viennese breakfast, nothing was lacking! The fruit was seasonably ripe and fresh. Everything looks gorgeous and breathtakingly beautiful, BUT the taste is not there. It is overall too sweet. The pistacchio dacquoise has benzaldehyde flavoring which I detest. The cream was real pistachio but was pretty heavy and sweet - didn't sit well with me. The Ribisel-Cremeschnitte was good, tart and sweet, but still, the cream too heavy. The vanilla cake was heavy and sweet. I mean heavy regarding double fat cream, the mouthfeel is light but you feel the fat content afterwards. Breakfast was ok - a slice of bread and brioche with jam (a little off tasting) and spread. Breakfast with coffee and pastry was 20€ which in my mind is too expensive for what it is. I wouldn't complain if the taste is as amazing as the looks. I really had high hopes for this place.
