Hello tourist! What I got the applestruddel with vanilla sauce and a weiner melange. I was so surprised on the amount of applesauce that was in it and was also very worried that it would be super sweet.. but to my surprise it was not as sweet as I thought it would be and it was actually very good! What I thought was a lot of sauce is also enough and needed! This was very good overall, different. I was happy that I was able to get the coffee with almond milk! Overall it was good Environment You cannot miss the storefront! It is pink! There is a downstairs and outside seating and there is upstairs where is wait to be seated. There looks to be quite some chairs, but it can be very tight together. I think some of the tables are too close together... but it works for the busy place it is Niceness of the staff it was quite busy and they were all running around. I am not as familiar on the etiquette in Austria but overall I had a good experience, I was able to flag my waiter down. I like that they don't constantly come check on me. Let me start by saying I wanted to love it. The main thing I wanted to have during my visit was Applestrudel. I was told by many people to try Aida. I was really sad to find that the Applestrudel was super dry and lacked any real flavor profile. A huge letdown. All four of us in our party had it, so I can't speak to any of the other treats there. The hot cocoa was ok, but nothing exciting. A sad experience that I had hoped would have been better. Next visit I will be trying somewhere else in my quest for a good Applestrudel. read more

I went twice, the first time I got a Mozart latte, and it was so good! The cream was so thick I couldn't get to the coffee without a straw, it had such delectable layers of flavor. The second time we did a sit down lunch and had amazing sandwiches, Aperol spritzes, and an amazing brownie desert with chocolate and cream. Aida Cafe caught my eye with it's bright pink colors as I was walking through the historical center of Vienna. Apparently they have multiple locations, including one at the airport. They offer pastries, breakfast, cakes and various coffee drinks. Coffee culture is such a big part of Vienna so I thought I would see how this place fared with the others I had visited. Cheese strudel - $3 euros - This was one of the better tasting strudels that I tried on my visit to Vienna. The pastry was soft and slight crispy on the outside and had a great tasting cream cheese filling. Capuccino - $4.40 euros - The cappuccino here was just ok taste wise. Not as smooth as the ones I had in Italy, and a little on the pricey side. Tasty Morsel Sacher - $3.60 euros - This consisted of a slightly dry chocolate cake with some apricot jam. However the chocolate surrounding the cake helped to make up for some of the dryness. Overall, this is a good spot to stop by to enjoy some pastries and coffee. It's better than most of the Viennese cafes that I visited. And with several locations in the city and at the airport, it's easy to find. read more

Aida cafes used to be good, but during my last visit to Vienna, it was just terrible. This particular location was overrun by tourists, as expected. But besides the amount of people, the coffee and cakes themselves were just ok. I ordered an einspänner and it had way too much whipped cream (think tall glass with 3/4 whipped cream). The next time I ordered it with just a little cream, which they did not do. To my waiters credit, I could tell that he tOld the barista about the order. And when he picked it up from the counter and saw that it had way too much cream, he told the guy. The barista just said take it out with a spoon (useful being Asian and them thinking you can't understand German). I was handed my drink and literally scooped out 1/3 cup of whipped cream. read more

This was the third - and probably last - time we have patronized this restaurant in our visits to Vienna. This time, there were NO hard-copy menus, only the scanned-with-the-QR code kind. When I asked in German for a menu, the server pointed to the QR code and indicated that that is the only kind of menu they have. I had an awful time pulling up their QR menu and, after my husband chose his items, I lost the menu and couldn't pull it back up. The server offered absolutely no help. Although I wanted to try one of their specialties, I was so frustrated with trying to pull up their menu that I just ordered an ordinary croissant. The service our server provided was barely acceptable. Yes, they were busy because it's Saturday, but this server was tough, unhelpful, and almost rude in her interaction with us. New York City has a reputation for people being rude, which I have seen on only one or two occasions - they've been very helpful on all other occasions. When we were in Aida today - and had I not known better - I would have thought that we were in New York, considering the way they treated us. As to ambiance, it was okay but nothing special. It's a typical old-world bakery and coffee shop. The servers are dressed like U. S. high school girls from the 1950s. In sum, the cost, lack of hard-copy menus, and borderline rude treatment will keep us away from this place indefinitely. Learn from our experience ... don't waste your time and money. I mostly bought cake here because I needed to use the restroom. There's a public one upstairs. Like most places, you have to pay for it. I didn't realize that at first though, thinking it was part of the pastry shop, so I said I'd BRB to "order." Then I felt guilty about my little white lie, so I decided not to lie after all and ordered cake to go. It was okay guilt-cake. Not exceptional by any means. Chocolate with a raspberry-chocolate coating on it. A bit dry, unfortunately, but the coating was good! The shop itself is really cute. Its right in the center of the action near Stephansplatz and is surrounded by lots of souvenir shops and international department stores. There are seats for eating in. Seems to appeal to one-time visitors based on its location and mediocre offerings. read more

Great corner location with lots of windows overlooking Stephansplatz square. A local suggested that we skip the tourist crowd on the main floor and venture to the upstairs dining area for a bit more space and less noise. During our first visit, we scored a table near the window and enjoyed the view along with our coffee and pastry. We returned for a quick breakfast, and then again for late night coffee and cake. I got a Pear Strudel and Aphfelstrudel to go here since there were so many people and tourists. The pear strudel was great, it had very good crispy crust (would have been much better right out of the oven of course, but I've heated it up in the oven so it's close). The filling is not too sweet and a little tangy. There's a faint star anise flavor (not what I would chose as the spice of choice for pears). Perfect tenderness of the pear baked with the perfect thickness of crust. The aphfelstrudel fell just a little short on the crust side since there's a lot more apples in the filling than pears, it's stacked up about an inch high. Plenty of apples and all baked to the perfect apple tenderness. The filling wasn't too sweet with plenty of cinnamon and also a little tangy-ness from either the natural acidity of apples itself or lemons. There's raisins in the filling though, I'm not a fan of plumped rehydrated raisins, it just doesn't taste the same. Also the perfect thickness of the crust. Great combination. I can eat this all day! No cream or ice cream needed. Usually when bakeries or restaurants get into opening more than 2-3 branches the quality starts going downhill so I usually try and avoid these places but Aida is different. Whatever it is they are doing it, keep doing it, it's great! The only thing that's keeping the full 5 stars is the way their ordering system is "set up" is not ideal. You go in there and it's just chaotic .. or maybe it's only because this location is in the dead central tourist location. Otherwise I would give them a 5 star! read more

This is a reasonably priced, high quality pastry shop with respectful and efficient service. So sweet in all pink with white ribbons! I love their wrapping paper and paper bags - pink tissue with drawings of the Stephensdom and the prater riesenrad in white. I highly recommend the golatsche, flaky pastry with a soft cheese filling, and open-faced sandwiches, especially bacon and hot pepper, ham and horseradish, and cheese and chives. The maronicremeschnitte is also good. Aida is a franchise chain with 34 shops, some in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Croatia, Canada, and Bosnia. I would go to this place for their pastries only. They have an endless variety of all sorts of reasonably priced sweets for Vienna. Ice-cream was not bad either. However, I did not like Aida's coffee at all especially Viennese famous melange , which they served me without whipped cream. It was bitter , burned and watery. Service can be very slow because this place is very crowded. Waiters are friendly and speak some English. Menu is translated in English and has pictures of all cakes and coffee they serve. In my opinion this coffee shop is worth trying, but Vienna has a lot more and a lot better coffee houses with a less hectic environment. Also for first time American tourists, you do not need to wait to be seated at any of these coffee shops. All you need to do is grab a table and wait for a waiter. Read as 3.49. We wanted to have a pastry and tea on our penultimate day in Vienna. I ordered three small treats, a tiny sacher torte, a Klimpte mint/dark chocolate confection and another chocolate something or other. Alan ordered a poppy seed pastry and an apple strudel. I received the Klimpt and the sacher torte. I couldn't taste any mint in the Klimpt and the sacher torte was sweeter than I liked. I was glad they were both small. I liked the poppy seed best of any of the pastries because it wasn't very sweet. The apple strudel was also good and not too sweet. Tables are fairly close together and you have to wait at a stand up table until a sit down table is vacated and grab it.. Stools at the tables are low. The decor is white and black marble w/ pink accents and the staff wear pink shirts and blouses. We spend almost no time in bakeries, so this was a departure and I was sorry that what I ordered was disappointing to me. It's hard when you don't like cakes on the sweet side to know what you're going to get. Alan's ordering was more successful this time than mine. We're leaving tomorrow but if we weren't I doubt we would return. read more

It is said that Aida is the Starbucks of Vienna, if the person is being generous, McDonalds if they are not. I give this location and Aida in general "5 stars" for most tourists. First of all, it is adorable. Old fashioned, yes, but much of Vienna's service and decor is. Being served by girls in pink uniforms with silver trays is a part of the charm. I would say that Aida has the best parts of Starbucks; a known entity with consistent quality and service that makes you feel as if you belong. It is better than Starbucks in every other way for me. It has fantastically beautiful drinks and pastries with a girly interior. The location at Stephansplatz has is in the bustling pedestrian center. There is outdoor seating and an upstairs salon with seats overlooking the area. Just go and find an empty place, the server will come over shortly. You will certainly find better Viennese coffee salons, but Aida is a great introduction. read more

The desserts here are alright... I had this hazelnut pastry, and it was really hard, but the flavors were phenomenal. They also suggested this chocolate cake with apricot jam, and it was yummy for the first 3 bites or so. Afterwards, each bite is a mouthful of sugar. If you see an Aida when you are walking around in Vienna and you are from America, make sure you go in. You'll be glad you did. Decor is very unique - everything is pink and their cakes are so pretty and satisfying. A coffee would cost around 2-3 euros and cake 3 euros. The service at this location is really good, and you can always order more than you can finish and take it home. My introduction to the Aida chain took place at the Stephansplatz branch. It's great that they seem to have a never-ending supply of just about every cake they offer -- they just don't run out, unlike other shops. They have plenty of different kinds of cakes to choose from. And I believe this particular branch stays open just a little bit later than many of the other pastry shops. Plus, their prices are lower than much of the competition's. The downside is that most of Aida's cakes just aren't all that good. Fine for squenching a sugar-withdrawal episode, but nothing to have a craving after when you're away from Vienna. There are better pastries to be had across the square at Cafe Weinwurm. read more

Rudest service so far in Vienna. The cashier kept screwing up our orders insisting I order and pay for a child at a time and when we tried two kids orders . Ordering a bottle of still water was met with a disgusted sigh to the co worker. Portions were small and expensive.
