I, prior to picking up a used VW Beetle Convertible, call "GAS" and spoke to Tony asking whether I could bring the car right in to have it completely checked. He agreed and we talked with the mechanic, which I appreciated, so he could understand this was a "toy" and would appreciate he check it completely. Within 2 hours Tony called to advise me it had passed Emissions check and would call later with the overview condition. He called and he covered all the items I understood would need attention. The car is perfect and I am going to keep Adam in my glove compartment so he is there to fix whenever I need help. I am very pleased with the fix, cost and throughness. Also, the coffee cup. Thank you. read more

I learned several years ago to stop going to Chapman BWM and use German Auto Service. This place is fantastic and has saved me a great deal of $$$ and aggravation. Their service techs take the time to go over everything with you and have always been able to answer all of my questions. read more

I went in here for my 2001 Bmw 330ci because i knew i had a few issues that needed resolved. They diagnosed each of the issues separately and explained them to me clearly. I did get a pricy quote for one of the items but it was HALF what the dealer wanted for the same job saving me $1000s. I'll be back to knock out the remaining items. plus I can walk to work while they fix my car since they are conveniently close to me. :) read more

Took great care of my VW. Great customer service. They got me right in and the service was great. Would definitely recommend!

These guys are saints! I took my Rover to them and found a garage filled with Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar and Range Rovers. Not only did they educate me as to what the problems with my Rover were, they offered to pick up and deliver my car whenever I needed it. They rescued me from a major out of pocket expense that the dealership cooked up and I am eternally grateful for their help. Don't take your Rover to the dealership until you use these guys, they are half the price and probably the only honest mechanics in phoenix az read more

The folks here are the Cream of the Crop. They do work on my Range Rover. I had them change out my brembo brakes and they, not even the dealership figured out that the disks and pads need to be seated in prior to use. The last brake change cycle I had to deal with screaming brakes for the entire time, and was told by Land Rover that this was probably normal for performance brakes. My father Herb has been going here since I was knee high to a grasshopper and only trusts them to work on his Mercedes's. read more

I unfortunately had to experience my BMW shutting down on the freeway, but was fortunate when, after a quick yelp search, I found my way to German Auto Service. I had AAA tow my car right up to their lot after hours, filled out a quick service form, dropped the keys, and was on my way. I called in the next morning and was greeted by a very friendly staff. I spoke with Eric, who was very thorough and explained that I needed a new fuel pump. After quoting me the price, I gave the OK and just a few days later my car was back and good to go! I am extremely impressed with German Auto Service's professionalism and dedication to customer service. I will definitely be back for any future repairs and have told all of my friends with German cars to do the same. read more

Had a great first experience here! It is with a tremendous amount of regret that I have to say "goodbye" to German Auto. I have done business with them for the past four years, and they have always treated me exceptionally well. They have always treated my car exceptionally well, too. Alas, the time has come to trade in my beloved MINI Cooper, and I elected to buy a Nissan this time around. If you have a German automobile, I highly recommend German Auto Service. They are always very up front on their pricing, and those prices tend to be, on average, about 30 to 40% less than what one would pay at a dealer. The one very major thing that swayed me over to them was when they recommended that I have my front brake pads replaced. That's not a cheap task on a MINI Cooper, so I asked if we should go ahead and do the back brakes at the same time. Most service centers would be all over that, trying to make an extra buck. German Auto simply told me that they weren't needed yet, and that earned a considerable amount of my respect. The only negative thing I can say about them is that they don't do any service on weekends. They do, however, offer shuttle service. read more

Great service! Got my oil changed from there and was about to call for a ride and found out they had a driver as well. He took me where I needed to go and my car was done much quicker than expected! Would definitely recommend!! read more

My family and friends have been taking their vehicles to this shop from years and i had been there once before so I decided to give them my work. I took my ML350 in due to rats chewing on wiring and interior. Damage was extensive but the vehicle was in the shop for 6 weeks. Service was lax at best in keeping me updated as to the status of the repair or if there were problems with insurance claims. It seems to me that 6 weeks is an excessive period to hold the vehicle even with the coronavirus issue which I was told didn't really affect their service. I finally got my vehicle back but to add to the issue, I was told that they missed a part that needed to be replaced so they had to submit a supplemental claim to insurance. A week and a half passed with no response from the shop, (I waited on purpose just to see if they would bother to get back in touch with me) so I called my insurance company. They had no record of an additional request for work on the vehicle. I called the shop back to ask them if they heard anything from the insurance company and was told no. Apparently they didn't bother checking either. I won't be taking my vehicle back to them. i was told the company was purchased recently and is under new management but am not sure so this might explain why things are not as they once were. I would not recommend this place unless you don't need a car. Good luck. read more

I have had my car serviced here for the past year or so. We have been well taken care of with service and support at German Auto. Richard and the entire team are focused on customer service and have treated me, my husband and my daughter with utmost professionalism and courtesy. The estimate has always been right-on or higher than what the actual bill comes out to be, so we haven't had any surprises. The service and repairs have been exceptional and I'm so happy to have found such a great place to take care of our BMWs. read more

Very knowledgeable and descriptive when explaining the work I needed done. Services were completed super fast...and they gave me a free bmw mug! I will be back to complete additional recommended services! read more

I took my Porsche 911 in to have the oil changed and a light bulb replaced. Although the oil change was fine, the service guy never wrote down the light bulb that needed to be replaced and when I got my vehicle back the light was not replaced. When I told him it wasn't fixed, he told me they replaced a different light (that wasn't out when I brought the car in). I asked if they would still fix the light that was out and they said it would take a long while because they needed to remove the front bumper to get the light that was out. I indicated that I saw videos that showed the light could be removed by simply disengaging the front light compartment sliding a credit card through the grove. The service guy continued to tell me the front end needed to be removed. I explained my disappointment and that I didn't have additional time to leave the car (I had already been there for 2 hours) and left. When I got home I looked the procedure of how to replace on youtube. I went and got the light from AutoZone and replaced it by myself in about 15 minutes. What's amazing to me is that the service guy works at "German" Auto Service company, yet I had to tell him how the front light was to be replaced. Needless to say, I lost all confidence in them and will never return. read more

They are polite and very helpful. I've always brought my mercedes to them and they were cost competitive in comparison to the dealership and other shops. Plus they really do understand German cars and how to fix them. There is no issue that they can't tackle!!! read more

These guys know their stuff, and the prices are fair. I feel super-comfortable taking my C320 there, after only having taken it to the dealer for the first 9 years I had it. I just got a new C240, and I will probably have services done here on the new one, too, instead of the dealer. read more

Great customer service, decent prices and reliable outcomes. I bring my '01 MB E320 in for regularly scheduled maintenance and they keep it running smooth safe and efficiently for a lot less than the dealerships and most other mechanics. I get a ride to and from the service appointments, and my car gets cleaned well too. I do recommend German Auto! read more

I've been taking my BMW to German Auto since I bought it 4 years ago. They do great work at actually reasonable prices. Highly recommend!

I had always taken my Audi to the dealer for repairs and maintenance, but I had a bad experience the last time I needed a repair. I thought I would try German Auto Service. These people know German automobiles I'm so glad I tried them I will always bring my Audi to them from now on. Knowledgeable, they fixed a minor problem that the dealer couldn't figure out while I waited at no charge! No, I'm not kidding. Service, the major repair, a transmission problem, was diagnoisted and I was given an estimate and time to repair. All was done on time, at the estimated cost and they made a case for a recall with Audi. By the way the cost was $200 less than the dealer estimate. Great place! read more

I own a 96 BMW 540 and a 06 Mini Cooper S - have used German Auto to service both of these vehicles and they are the best in town. Their service technicians can figure out what the trouble is and they don't start with the most expensive solution. Their labor rates are very competitive and much less than any dealer service department, but their work is equal to the big guys. They have the diagnostic software and access to the same parts as dealers too, so I'm not missing a thing other than $100's of extra cost when I use German Auto. Very friendly and trustworthy - highly recommended. read more

Outstanding service, more affordable than dealer. These guys know their stuff. My Mercedes continued to stall after replacing the battery. Took it to another independent service shop and engine light continued to come on, took it to the dealership who wanted triple for diagnosis. Friend recommended German Auto. They solved all my problems, showed me the problem. Quick diagnosis, affordable service, car drives like a dream, even told me tips about my car I never knew! I won't go anywhere else from now on. People always comment how expensive BMW's are to maintain. After owing two (each for about 10 years) I have no complaints. I found German Auto because it's been in my neighborhood for over 30 years. It's easy to get an appointment, they are very thorough, and very reasonably priced. They never try to upsell you - in fact just the opposite. I have a couple of things that weren't necessary to have fixed and they told me just that. They gave me quote for new breaks and I thought I could get a better deal at one of the franchise break retailers. By the time I got done having my breaks redone at "Just Breaks" it would have been cheaper to have German Auto do the work and I would have been more confident that they had done it right. REALLY bad decision on my part. This is a great place, same ownership forever, professional, they drive me home and pick me up, and wash my car and I've never felt they've added on extra work, and they provide firm, reasonable quotes. I also appreciate their expertise with German cars so I know it's always done right. read more

I have a 2008 VW Beetle and needed to have it checked out before I sell it. I have been taken to the cleaners by my VW dealer, so decided to check into German Auto. They were amazing. It was inexpensive to have the car diagnosed; and the repairs they found were minimal and affordable. I would recommend them to anyone interested in quality service from someone other than the dealer. They even washed my car before I picked it up. No surprises, no hinky deals, just really nice people and really good service! Jacki O read more

I've been driving my 1982 SD 300 for over 20 years, and most of that time I've had it serviced at German Auto. Eric and the guys in Service are VERY well known to me. They are not pushy and have looked for less expensive options when possible. My good experiences keep me coming back for oil changes and repairs, even though I live miles away. I think they can do most anything, because they have done most everything on my car, except for the engine and transmission, which are still Mercedes strong after more than 400K miles. Call and talk to Eric before you go. He is honest and will explore options. I'm picking up my car there today after its latest round of work. I don't like spending money on my car, but when I do, I know these guys will give me value. read more

I keep coming back because they do great work, quickly and at a very reasonable price. My 1991 Mercedes SL300 had a throttle that I thought might be a fuel pump. Took my car (BMW 528i) in for the first time for brake service and potential new rims. BMW dealer stated my brakes were good but rims were warped because of run flat tires. The guys at German Auto got me in quickly. Confirmed my rims were not warped and got my rear brakes and rotors changed for $300-400 less than the dealer. Car was ready and washed on time and shuttle took me to/from my office with little wait. So happy to find an honest repair shop. Highly recommended to anyone for BMW repairs. read more

Best service ..!!!! Unbeatable mechanics and I love mikes detailing all together why I keep on going back

Yesterday was my second time taking my 2013 VW in for regular maintenance. The staff is uber friendly and knowledgeable. They suggested some additional repairs, were upfront about the cost and honest in regards to whether they could be put off for a later date or not. Also, loved my drivers that took me home after I dropped my car off and picked me up when it was ready. I HIGHLY recommend German Auto Service, I really feel like they care about me and my car. read more

I spent $98 to find out that I would get ripped off for over $1,000! I brougt my '86 BMW in for a quote to troubleshoot a rolling idle issue and to replace all belts, including the timing belt. It was determined that the idle controll valve was "out of range" and needed to be replaced. I was quoted $958! This valve can be found on-line for about $200 and can be installed in less than 1/2 hour. I was going to be ripped-off for over $700! I was quoted $1,098 for the belts; timing, water pump, fan clutch and fan. Now I realize that this is a messy and time consuming job but a skilled auto shop, as I though this was, could conceivably complete a job like this in about 4-5 hours. If you take thier shop rate of $98 X 5 hours = $490. That leaves $608 for parts! Again, I found a complete replacement belt kit from a reputable on-line parts company, Pelican Parts, for about $250. I was going to get ripped-off for over $350. I would not recommend this shop for service work on any of my vehicles. It's quite possible that they cater to wealthy Mercedes or BMW owners who either don't care how much it costs or don't know enough to realize that they may be over charged for parts or labor. read more

My fiance and I have been coming to German Auto for a couple of years now. We both drive VW's and these guys know their stuff. Everyone has been very friendly and helpful each time we have to take our cars in. Earlier this year they performed a complete checkup of my 2004 Jetta and let me know all the things that I could do to keep this baby running for (hopefully!) another 100,000 miles. I currently have it in their shop working on it bit by bit as money allows and they have been great about working with me in getting things done over time. GREAT service with honest people...I will never go back to a dealership. read more

Richard and the folks at German Auto Service exceeded my expectation on my first visit. I brought out 2012 Audi Q7 TDI in for a regular service (oil change, etc.), and the work was done quicker than I expected. The cost of the services was very reasonable, and they even washed the Audi inside and out! read more

We were driving to Phoenix when our VW Jetta started to overheat and the gas pedal intermittently stopped responding. We barely made it to German Auto and they were very friendly in assisting us. The VW guy was from San Francisco area (where we are from) and made us feel at home. They had to rush order our parts and when they didn't work initially, they asked the VW dealer in Scottsdale for help. The other dealer offered to fix our car that day for 3x the normal labor cost! German Auto knows this is illegal and filed a complaint with VW. Instead of taking advantage of us, they worked overtime to get our car fixed and even picked us up from our hotel. German Auto helped turn around a potentially devastating situation and we are so grateful for their help! read more

I am the original owner of my 1989 Mercedes 190E. I do a lot of maintenance and repairs myself so I am familiar with this car. On occasion there are some things that are better off being repaired at a professional shop with the proper equipment. I needed to have the drive shaft rebuilt with new flex discs etc. They did a great job and only replaced parts that were needed. I thought they were very knowledgeable, honest and fair. I was impressed. I am glad to have found this shop because I plan on keeping my car and using them again. They also provided a free shuttle service with a very friendly driver (Bernie). Chuck (our service advisor) kept me in the loop during the repair process. If you care about your car this is a good shop to use. read more
