1 star. Absolutely terrible experience. I brought my BMW here thinking I would save money compared to the dealership. Big mistake. They quoted me around $2,950 for an oil housing replacement, while the dealership quoted $3,000. So there is basically no price advantage at all. Then it got worse. On the first day, they gave me my car back without the underbody cover at all. When I came to pick it up, I clearly told them that I would take the cover myself and they didn't need to install anything, but instead they handed me someone else's cover, which does not even fit my car. On top of that, I had insurance that was supposed to cover specific damage, but they opened a claim for everything they possibly could, creating unnecessary complications. With each visit over the next seven years, it became abundantly clear that GAG was the right place to take my vehicle for annual maintenance or specific repairs. The GAG Team was responsive, qualified and fair to the point where there was nowhere else I would've rather gone. Each repair or maintenance job was done well, in a timely fashion and at a fair price. The GAG Team Counselors were top notch and honest with me at every turn. I kept my 2004 for 17 years. I was told that diagnostic fee would be applied toward the repair. I was quoted $969 for spark plugs and ignition coils, and I authorized the work based on that quote. After the car was already at your shop, I realized I had intended to go to the Springfield location, which quoted the same repair at $658. I highly recommend . I have an older Audi 200 a window regulator replaced. I took it to the dealer and they quoted me a price that I thought was pretty high so I took it to for an estimate. They were considerably less than the dealer charged and they used OEM part which explained for some of the higher cost. They were able to do the work in one day and everything worked fine after that. I have a diesel bmw that needed a new oxygen sensor, the bmw dealer gave me a ridiculous quote to replace far more than what I really needed, over $5k, Adrian got me just a new sensor and installed it for less than $600. Even more a few weeks later when check engine light came on (which ended up being nothing and not related to the sensor) Adrian did the scan for me to check out what was wrong free of charge. Abysmal. Took my 2017 BMW M4 to German Auto Group on Saturday. I'm familiar with the location, and have referred friends in the past. I dropped my car off late afternoon for diagnostic and servicing to begin Monday. I was notified that my fuel line needed to be replaced, as expected since my vehicle was brought in for a fuel leak, along with some other minor work. After I picked up my car today, I tried to park my car and found that the Park function will not engage, remaining in Neutral and making a clicking sound. I returned to the shop and asked for them to take a look. Adrian Mungiu insisted that any difference in function must have been due to damage as a result of being brought in on a tow truck. Fascinating, because I drove my car to the shop myself, it was never towed in. Then he decided to pivot, and say he never put the car in park, that it was always left in neutral. When I explained that there is a procedure for engaging Park (sequencing with the break/e-break/engine shut off), he explained he didn't know, and that's what he always does. When left in Neutral, the car will have an indicator sound and indicator light on the dash, which he ignored. After running a diagnostic test, Adrian returned to tell me that my transmission (newly replaced earlier this year by BMW directly) was having a problem, and the problem was found to have started 'within 3/10 of a mile from the shop'. Perhaps if he said, the issue was found to have originated ~100 miles before drop off, I could understand, but 3/10 of a mile is about from the shop to the nearest stop light. I explained to him that the vehicle should always be put in park, that I never leave it in Neutral, and it's likely the cause of the new issue. After much persistence, Adrian reluctantly agreed to keep my car overnight, however when I asked him to show me how he would park the car, so that I could see his procedure and verify it for correctness, he refused. He would not let me ride in the vehicle with him, nor would he put the car in Park even with me on the outside so that I could watch. I'm incredibly disappointed, and will continue to escalate the issue until an adequate resolution is agreed upon. Came in looking for a quote to have a repair done on my car was recommended to come here based on them being European car specialists. I should have walked out once the first red flag went off when the gentleman stated he had never heard of a pendulum mount or a dog bone mount seeing as almost all if not all European cars have them. But he said he would look into it and reached back out stating that he spoke with his Audi guys and they also have never heard of said mount and proceeded to send me a picture of the exact Mount I was referring to and called it an engine mount even though the mount is in the subframe and does not connect to the engine. never the less I proceeded with just looking for an estimate which I was then quoted $2,550 for the mount replacement and alignment which is double the amount I was quoted from the Audi dealership. Found this group looking for a quality service shop nearby as an alternative to the local dealership after hearing about a recent decline in the dealer's quality of service. Had a coolant leak in my older Mini Cooper S and figured I'd take it here instead and give them a shot. Staff are very friendly, courteous, and make it a point to be personable. They identified my leak and seem to have fixed the issue as well (no leaks so far) and identified another two (legitimate) issues which I also had them repair. Some aspects seemed a little pricey, but considering costs of everything in the surrounding area (cost of living and competitor pricing) and time that was likely involved for the specific repairs from competent mechanics, I think they're reasonably priced and an overall good value. Surprisingly, they guaranteed their work with a one year warranty which was explained to me at checkout. I believe that covered both parts and labor but I suspect labor at least. Wasn't expecting that as most shops, once you roll out of the parking lot, it's going to be a battle to get the shop to cover their work if something wasn't correctly fixed. To me, this says they stand by thequality of their work and actually did the repairs they said they did. I'll be returning here for any future repairs that are beyond my novice maintenance skills. read more

The waiting room was comfy and spacious with free Wi-Fi. The mechanic, who I unfortunately didn't get the name of, was very kind and explained everything to me thoroughly. I was looking around for alternatives to the dealership, so I decided to try out German Auto Group for some maintenance services, since they claim to beat dealership prices. I was due for some regular maintenance which involved a trans fluid/filter, engine oil, and rear diff axle oil change on my 2016 C63. I got to chat up the mechanic who was a cool, knowledgeable guy and he answered all the questions I had. He also didn't try to upsell me on any unnecessary services - a big plus in my book. So I got quoted on the prices, left the car with them around noon and had it back by 5:30pm which is right around their closing time. Quality and timing of service was solid. Since I was a walk-in, I was pleasantly surprised they were able to get everything done in one day. Compared to the dealership who probably would've kept my car for days, the guys at GAGA work fast. I don't think the pricing beat the dealership as they claimed. I don't have dealership quotes for the trans and diff service, so I can't compare there. But the engine oil change at GAGA was $140 whereas I've gotten it done at the dealership for $118 in the past. In the end, this was the only gripe I've had. TL;DR Overall, the technicians at GAGA seemed competent and I felt comfortable handing over my car to the shop and the service was completed very fast considering that I was a walk-in. Pricing-wise - not sure if it makes sense to go back for oil changes. And the cost of a trans/diff service seemed a bit on the higher end (AMG tax is real). But the guys here seem honest and good at what they do, so it might be worth coming back. read more

I took my BMW to the German Auto Group for an oil change, and tune up. I got there two hours before they closed, they were able to change the oil but no tune up because of the time. However since they knew I wanted a tune up they checked the car out and found some things wrong and will provide me with a quote. They were very professional, great customer service and have a nice guest lounge with coffee, tea and a fridge full of bottle waters. I took my Porsche in for an oil change. Upon reviewing my car, the expert mechanics at German Auto Group found an issue with my car which was caused during my last oil change at another shop. Luis took lots of time, photos and explained in detailed the issue. He also outlined the proper protocol for changing oil for my type of vehicle. I am very thankful I took my car here, otherwise I potentially could have had to replace my engine in the near future. I drive everywhere and rely upon my car to be safe. Luis and the team at German Auto group is interested in safety first with your car. They didn't charge me for the diagnosis of this problem rather they offered to have my car towed back to the last mechanic to fix the problem. They also want to re-check my car after the work has been performed to make sure the other mechanic performed the work correctly. I did some research before bringing my 2016 328xi to them for an estimate on replacing the tailpipe clip or the entire exhaust acctuator if needed. This was simply a nuisance repair to eliminate the rattling noise. German Auto Group of Alexandria quoted me $715 to which of course I said even the dealer told me the cost would be $400 if the acctuator needed replacing. I ended up taking it to the dealer and paying $175 (parts and labor and taxes) to replace the clip. Still too much money for this repair but at least NOT $715. I would have been ripped off had I not done my homework. I would have paid $600 more to GAG. I won't be going back to German Auto Group for ANYTHING. I don't trust them. The service rep, Lui, showed me the rattling exhaust clip as we stood under my car and said without batting an eye as he pointed to his written estimate that he could not just replace the clip that he checked and would have to replace the entire acctuator for a total parts and labor cost of $715. What a ______________!!! You fill in the blank. Again, the high priced BMW dealership charged me $175! Problem solved. Even if the acctuator needed replacing Lui was grossly overcharging me. DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE dealing with the dealer or these other so-called mechanics. If you don't, they will surely rip you off! read more
